Can we just forgo the last game, hope Anaheim wins all their games, and face Minny in the playoffs? Please?
-
Crosby is a whiney (very talented) punk ass. Go Sens.
-
eww Ozzy that goal looked like a stinker.

You guys are handing it over to Kessel too quickly CURTIS BROWN should win it. Im all for perserverance after losing one of your balls, but ld much rather lose a ******** than lose my daughter to SIDS. IMO, thats harder to overcome. And not to take anything away from testicular cancer, but it has a very high survival rate.

Believe it or not, but if LA was a contender and won the cup, that would be huge for the popularity of hockey as well. So would Chicago...but thats a whole 'nother story.

TSN's Gord Miller: Datsyuk close to extension?
YoungGuns1340 replied to HELLDOGSbmx's topic in General
There are two swedes named Backstrom. I think the difference in name is Niklas and NiCklas. One is a near-30 goaltender, the other is a near-20 center. One is on the Wild, one will be on the Caps next year. -
People were heartbroken when Fedorov left. Its not about him sucking or his morals, etc - although people will use those excuses for booing him. Its about him being a standout son of Detroit and then leaving Detroit for another team. Is it immature to boo him? Yeah. Personally, I think its getting pretty old, but its one of those things that will probably never go away and in some ways could be taken as a compliment. He wouldnt be booed in people didnt care about him so much in the first place.

I think him dominating in the playoffs in terms of a requisite for being re-signed is a little ridiculous. The guy missed nearly 2 full seasons of hockey back to back and is expected to be a leading scorer in order to be re-signed? I know there were conditions in his deal about how his playoff performance would impact his being re-signed, but I think its safe to say that if he has a decent showing re-signing should far and away be the #1 option. Regardless of whether hes scoring, hes a presence that Detroit hasnt seen since the late 90s. A talented, skilled, huge, physical winger should be the last thing Detroit lets walk in the off-season considering hell undoubtedly only become more and more comfortable in his own skin between now and the next season.

TSN's Gord Miller: Datsyuk close to extension?

Kenny might as well lock up Datsyuk now. Hes played well in every playoff-type game weve had so far, hes become a leader, a go-to guy, and a player who can take over games. Hes also become a beast defensively all the while still remaining one of the most exciting players to watch in the NHL. I see this guy getting on the board in the Wings first or second playoff game and not slowing down from his regular season pace. I wouldnt be surprised if Babs, Kenny, and Mike can sense Datsyuk's playoff outbreak just around the corner and because of that, are getting him locked up soon. Im pretty sure Backstrom is around 28 years old. Not exactly a youngster -
I second that.

Lidstrom and Chelios of course! At any rate, I agree with whoever else said it: Quincey has not stood out, which is a good thing. Youd never know he was a rookie if you weren't a fan of the Wings. He plays with poise and confidence. While he doesnt have much of a shot, hes doing all the other things right and his defensive positioning has left nothing wanting so far.

The only bright side of this game is that the BJs are running all over us and the score is still 0-0.

Lang whiffed
-
No wonder Nash is such a fatass.....cherry picker.
-
This game SUCKS. Somebody kick a BJ's ass.
-
Sammy on the point is a joke....especially when the guys hes replacing is Schneider.
-
HAHA Bertuzzi is just layin em down!
-
When Hank comes back, Lang should be demoted to the third line, and Datsyuk-Bert/Hank-Homer should take over as the top dogs for the first two lines.
-
"In addition to Schneider, the film also features special appearances by Brendan Shanahan, Joe Thornton, Scott Niedermayer, Scott Gomez, Jeremy Roenick, Glen Murray, Brian Rolston, Mike Comrie, Martin Havlat, Craig Conroy, Mike Knuble, RJ Umberger, Derian Hatcher, and retired great Al MacInnis." Holy Crap!

I hate to break it to you guys, but he was still a decent player when he turned it up a notch in the playoffs. Hes no longer a decent player. The only thing we can hope for is a respectable showing from him in the playoffs. His post-season superb performances are over. Nobody with the crappy work ethic and forever reliance on skill is going to go from night to day in the playoffs.

AHHHH Lang blows a chance! Sammy blows a chance! This game is BRUTAL!!!

what a joke this team is tonight.

Ultimate Playoff Matchup Thread - Who Ya Want?

Lids, Cheli, Homer, Hank, Datsyuk, Schneider, Draper, Malts.....yeah I think thats enough for them to have a collective memory of what happened in Calgary last time. So weve pointed out how the Wings are 1) Hungrier 2) Grittier 3) Have better goaltending, but I didnt see anybody mention how we arent so god damned reliant on our PP as we have been in years past. Thats definitely a plus as well. -
