Crosbys attitude as a player reminds me of Gretzkys attitude as a coach.

Ultimate Playoff Matchup Thread - Who Ya Want?
YoungGuns1340 replied to rick zombo's topic in General
IMO, the biggest thing we have over the Flames that we didnt have over them in 2004 is the REFFING. Call me crazy, but the Flames were so slow and goony in 2004, that if the new way of calling the game had been implemented then, we probably wouldve won. Unfortunately, the Flames are faster, just as physical, and have found their scoring touch. Detroit matches up just fine with Dallas, Minnesota and Nashville. Hell, I think we match up with Anaheim (IMO, they arent as meat and potatoes physical as they are willing to drop the gloves) and even with Vancouver. But Calgary and San Jose have something on Detroit and the Wings know that too. -
This is so funny to me. So the two people (that we know of for sure) that didnt like Babcock were Shanahan and Lang. Correct me if Im wrong, but are these not the two biggest names you can think of in terms of "not doing that which you are capable of"??? Sorry, but if Babcock is making a career out of running the lazy floaters who wont do the dirty work out of town, then I have no problem with Babcock staying on for as long as hes successful. Give me a team with a bunch of hardworkers and skilled guys who come to play everyday and Im happy enough with that.

I found this interesting coming right after an article in the Freep about how much Datsyuk appreciated getting the "A" when the other guys were out. Thats a lot of respect flowing from the coach to the player in a situation where Maltby, Homer, Schneider, and Lang are by far the more veteran, experienced players. I mean, Babs doesnt seem to be messing with Datsyuk at all so who knows? Then again, what do we know exactly?? Either way, if Datsyuk leaves, you can be sure Illitch and Kenny will fill that hole with just as big a name - Smyth, Drury, Forsberg, etc.
-
They also said Datsyuk would want to play in Washington because Datsyuks "best friend" is AO. That right there tells you they are full of hot air because Datsyuks "other best friend" is his linemate Henrik Zetterberg.

Im kind of disappoint in you Wings fans. Thats Dan Cleary's body language all the way. There are certain players you can just tell who they are without looking at anything else but their shot, body language, skating stride etc.
-
Yup its Cleary. Cleary always gets down close to the puck when hes on a breakaway/shootout.

Door Number 5 or Calgary in First Round of Playoffs
YoungGuns1340 replied to livediehockey80's topic in General
Dallas, Minnesota, and Nashville are the teams I would most prefer to face. Therefore, Im either hoping for Nashville to take first overall or Anaheim to take first overall which means wed either face Dallas or Minny. Minnesotas been playing awesome lately, but I really think Detroits defense can lock Gaborik, Demitra, and Rolsoton down. None of their other forwards worry me, they arent overly physical, and I think Detroits defensive game is better than theirs anyways. Goaltending may be an issue, but Backstrom is a rookie...and theres no goaltender that can stop Datsyuk and Zetterberg when they want to score, so.. -
Why the Red Wings need the Presidents Trophy
YoungGuns1340 replied to timothy1997's topic in General
Dallas looks like the Oilers?!??!?!??? HAHA. The only way they beat the Red Wings this year was in the last 10 minutes when Detroit stopped playing...with only 5 defenseman. Had that been a playoff game, Detroit wouldnt have let up and probably wouldnt have gotten so tired to boot. Dallas is the ONLY team that doesnt look like the Oilers of last year. Me too. Wings will get more trouble from the Flames than any other team. Granted, the other 5 teams (not including Dallas) will be tough too, but I think we can take everyone else if we play our top game. -
Ok...GO CALGARY!!! If Detroit doesnt get the 4th seed and face Dallas, I want them to get the 1st seed and face Minnesota. If Calgary wins tonight, theyre only two points back of Minnesota for the 7th seed. (I know Minnesota has been playing great hockey, with Gabroik and Backstrom and all, but for some reason I think we can neutralize their main scoring threats...the 3 guys that they have...and take care of the rookie Backstrom rather than having to deal with Langkow, Huselius, Tanguay, and Iginla along with all that grit, physicality and experience. )

Is Lebda back?? God, I hope so. Our defense is so slow without Kronner and Lebda Markov-Schneider Lebda-Lilja Chlios-Quincey ??? I hope to GOD Lebda plays with Lilja. Lilja seems to be ok when he has Lebdas speed to cover for him.
-
I hate to say it, but Lilja was probably outplaying Kronner lately. And Kronner on the PK makes me more scared than anyone else...except for maybe Schneider. As long as we get Lebda back, Ill be satisfied with our defense.

Hoping Dallas beats Nashville in OT. That puts Detroit at #4 and keeps Dallas at #5
-
This game tonight could be a blessing in disguise. The Wings own the Preds and they know what they have to do to beat them. HOWEVER, tonight they sat back after a 3-0 score and probably were all thinking to themselves "We own Dallas. We can beat Dallas with one hand tied behind our backs and down a defenseman. Blase blase." This shows them that, although they know how to beat Dallas and are right to play with a ton of confidence against them, Dallas is still a good team that can bite you in the ass if you slack off. So heres my bold prediction: The Red Wings end up with the 4th seed, face Dallas in the first round, and because of this game, they dont take Dallas lightly and steamroll right over them playing great playoff hockey like they did in the first 50 minutes tonight.
-
I think Buffalo might face the same sort of fate that Detroit did in 03. If their opponent has the defensive skills - which not many teams in the East do - Buffalo could have some serious problems. Ryan Miller hasnt been as stellar this year as he was last, and I wouldnt be surprised to see a bottomfeeder box out the Sabres til theyre bored to death and take their goals from there.

Dumbest thing you've ever heard another teams fans say
YoungGuns1340 replied to theman19's topic in General
Yeah, I was just going to say that. The RED WINGS have a ton of stupid fans too. I heard a Wings fan the other day talking about how intimidating and hard-hitting Mathieu Schneider is. MATHIEU SCHNEIDER for god's sake! Unfortunately, all teams have some real dumb fans, including us. -
Id take Dallas over Calgary every day of the week and twice on Sundays. We simply cannot handle Calgarys physicality and Dallas has nobody as potent as the Tanguay-Huselius-Iginla line. That could tear us a new *******. As for Dallas, we own Turco, and we dominated the game tonight until playing an entire game with 5 D caught up with us and the boys all around stopped playing. Plus us missing Zetterberg and them missing Robidas doesnt even compare. Not to mention, if we play Dallas, this blown 3 goal lead will be fresh in our minds. Hopefully all things pan out and Detroit ends up 4 vs Dallas at 5.

Handzus wants 4 Million Bucks...uhm, no. CHRIS DRURY is the guy we should pick up if that what Wings management feels we need.
-
Anyone know if the Vancouver-LA game is on sopcast? I wanna see Jack Johnson
-
Hardly. The Preds were all over us with the hits in the first, but we matched their physicality in the 2nd and 3rd. Franzen had 3 or 4 really nice hits though.

Classless Pred fans

WHAT THE f*** SCHNEIDER
-
That sucks. The NHL needs Toronto to make the playoffs.
-
Side note: The Columbus Blue Jackets pulled their goaltender when they were down two goals and Anaheim (surprise) scored the empty netter. Call me crazy, but Im pretty sure them winning the game wouldnt have done much.
-
Man. Anybody else see that interview with Zetterberg?? That did NOT sound comforting. "So...is it just conditioning you need to do or is the back still hurting" Hank: "Oooohhh, uhhhhh, ummmm......its its the conditioning, yeah."
