Just in case anyone is taking a look at the Art Ross Race, Thornton and Crosby are both playing tonight. Thornton has 2pts tonight, so hes up to 101. Crosby still at 108 as of now.

Good thing our first period is always our worst. But Im pissed we didnt get ANYTHING threatening on net. Homers looked out of it. Calder, Datsyuk, and Lidstrom have looked pretty good to me.

...but thats all thats expected of him. Hes not here to make pretty plays. Hes not here to score all the goals. That was his role on Vancouver. Hes not a primary scorer on Detroit - thats reserved for Dats, Hank, Schneider, and Lids. His job will now be secondary scoring, but more importantly playing physical. Back on topic, Vancouver has looked unstoppable lately, but so has Anaheim, Detroit, Nashville, San Jose, Dallas, Minnesota, Ottawa, Pittsburg, Buffalo, and New Jersey at varying points. (And I still feel like Im missing some.) Those were teams throughout the season that for a long stretch were considered unbeatable, dominant, rolling all four lines, sick chemistry, etc. Hell, even St. Louis had a mini-series version of being unbeatable.

Even Buffalo fans use Vanek as an example of whats wrong with the +/- stat. He is not even close to being a defensive player, but pure offense.

He seems like a great guy. He reminds me a little of Maltby in his prime...back when Maltby actually remembered his job was to agitate and hit in the late 90s. I wish the Wings had a guy like him on the team. Guys like that are just so essential. Youre lucky to have him.

yeah they are playing well, but Im not worried because we wont face them in the first round. Plus, Id like to see how the Wings look once they dont have a new face in the lineup and a different face out of it every god damn night. Its hard to get any chemistry going with the merry-go-round that is the Wings forward lineup these days. OT: Anybody think Thornton can catch Crosby?? The Michalek - Thornton - Cheechoo line has been sick lately. Ive heard some stuff from him on youtube. Its pretty funny. He seems like a great guy to have on your team..
