    Bootland recalled from Grand Rapids

I dont know if "stepping up" to Tootoo is the correct phrase.

    Met Robert Lang yesterday...

There were both blonde haired kids. Id say about ages 5 and 3. The one that was talking to me was the five year old and definitely a little girl. The other was in his lap, but I couldve swarn it was a girl too. My niece's best friend babysits for the Langs. She said Jennifer Lang offered for Hudler to take her to some dance at Marian High School. I guess they're a pretty good bunch.

    NSH @ LA Mar.03/07

yeah...the Wings got their tough games out of the way before the Preds did. Amazing we're still tied. Best of luck to you.

2/27 GDT: Red Wings @ Blackhawks

Man, Lang is looking TERRIBLE out there. Hopefully Bert will give Lang some new life.

OFFICIAL: Todd Bertuzzi a Red Wing

anyone know if Bertuzzis back is a nagging injury?? at any rate, great deal for all the above reasons everyone else has stated

OFFICIAL: Todd Bertuzzi a Red Wing

According to NHLnumbers.com, Detroit has 24.466 Million tied up in 12 players. The Cap estimate number is ~47M. Thats about 22.5 to spend on 10 players. Considering that Hasek, Chelios, Hudler, Kopecky are all going to make less than 1M individually (and Maltby if Detroit re-signs him), Detroit is in a pretty good spot to re-sign both Datsyuk, Bert, a second line center and fill out the rest.

OFFICIAL: Todd Bertuzzi a Red Wing

Its not really that well have 9 million to spend flat out. For example, if we re-sign Datsyuk, its not like its going to add 6M on to the payroll. If Datsyuk gets 6M, itll be a 2.1M addition to the payroll. Thats a big difference.

Another head for Tootoo to hunt???? HAHAHA. Can Tootoo even see Bertuzzis head several feet below???

OFFICIAL: Todd Bertuzzi a Red Wing

Detroit took NO risks in this trade and the only thing they give up means Bertuzzi played well. Im beyond happy here. This changes the entire dynamic of this team.

Wings acquire Kyle Calder in 3-way deal

I noticed this too. Jason Williams is NOT particularly speedy, and he was completely irrelevant in the 2002 cup run. He may have scored 58 points, but he is probably responsible for more against. Funny how they didnt include that he was also directly responsible for the Oilers surge in the game that eliminated us from the 2006 playoffs.

Bertuzzi may no longer be an option

you forgot about Sammy. Sammy would replace Williams. Edit: And Willy straight up for Bert would have no bearing on whether or not they could acquire Guerin. Its more of a last ditch effort to acquire somebody. Id rather trad Willy for the "chance" of having Bert than do nothing at all. Why would the playoff-bound pens trade Malone? They may have wanted to trade him earlier in his career, but hes doing just fine right now and a big, fairly physical body for the 2nd line. Theirs, not ours.

Bertuzzi may no longer be an option

It would actually be a good deal for the wings because theyll have +1.6 million in cap space next year with no loss on talent. And Bertuzzi WILL eventually come back. In the mean time, bring up Hussey who was bomb in his few games and let Hudler and Flip play more. Then once Bert and Sammy come back, the team looks pretty good. Hank - Dats - Homer Sammy - Lang - Bert Cleary - Flip - Hudler Malts - Drapes - Franzen

    Preds and Habs --> Overtime

Trotz is a moron...and Im liking it. Hes obviously never heard of the Kariya + Forsberg on the Avs.
  14. YoungGuns1340

Bertuzzi may no longer be an option

This isnt news. Anyways, fine then. Trade Williams for Bertuzzi and nothing will be lost. If Bert cant play, then Sammy will take Willy's spot by the playoffs. Thats a win-win situation IMO. We dont have to pay out 1.6M to Willy next season and if Bert is really that bad, we can let him walk. IMO, Kenny should really take a risk with Bert if we can get it done using Willy alone.

    JLA Crowd Lifeless?

What you watch on TV and the what you actually hear at the game are two different things. My sister and her husband called me from the game last night during the third period. They were in section 224 and I could barely hear her talking people were being so loud...

    Holland backing down?

So...Preds are done trading, Stars are done trading, Sutter said Stuart was his last move, Burke doesnt want to make big trade, and Nonis doesnt want to make a big trade Basically, if he prices dont go down, what you see of the Western conference contenders now is what youre going to see in the playoffs sans some minor moves.

    Holland backing down?

Seriously guys. Burke has been cited many times saying he doesnt want to give up guys like GETZLAF, PERRY, and RYAN. Those guys are young and talented as all heck right now. If thats what theyre asking from Anaheim, then they're asking for Filppula, Kronwall, and Howard from us, not second rounders and mid-level prospects.

    Holland backing down?

This boards is HILARIOUS. Must we give Holland a new thread for every quote of his??? READ WHAT THE REST OF THE LEAGUE GMS ARE SAYING!!!!!!! Brian Burke - prices too high Muckler - prices too high JFJ - prices too high Media on Jacques Martin - his making a rookie mistake, his prices are too high ...and these are just some of the guys. People really need to realize that if the prices are through the roof, then the teams we will be facing in the 1st arent going to be getting any better than they are right now. The Wild, the Canucks, the Sharks, the stars, the ducks. Theres a rumor gaining steam that the canucks might get Jamie Heward. OOhh scary.

    What's Going on With Ovechkin?

apparently not Crosby. That sucks, because I like Ovy better. Anyways, I was interested in this myself and I was surprised to see that Ovechkin's PP time for forwards is 2nd to Semin. To be honest, I think its just a case of teams having their best guys out against Ovechkin every shift without much help from his linemates either.

Update on Holland's search for forwards.

Yeah thats great. Lets limit peoples freedom of speech on a forum designed specifically for people to voice their opinion. Put up with it and get over it. I, myself, am so sick of people painting Schneider to be some hockey god just because he puts up points. He put up 8 points in the playoffs last year yet he was the worst guy defensively behind ONLY Lilja. The only time Schneider shines is when hes on the point. Hes old, injury prone, and lets guys walk right up to the net uncontested. Im sick of Schneider thinking he can get away with subpar play in his own end just because hes an "offensive defenseman" On Spectors they say that Tkachuk and Guerin may have played their last games. The Blues are apparently in heavy trade talks.

Esposito on the XM: Wings looking at Tkachuk

I would take Guerin over Tkachuk of course, but Tkachuk would be by no means a bad addition. He scores, plays hard down low, and has some nice hands. Sure he takes some ill-timed penalties, but every team has those guys. 9 times out of 10, if you want a guy who is an ******* and plays with a chip on his shoulder game in and game out, youre going to get more than a few penalties to go along with that.

    Buccigross on the Red Wings

This isnt nothing we dont know. But nobody can deny that goaltending has been as good as it has been since...well 2002, and the defense could be the best since then as well, in terms of its chemistry and balance between stay at homers and offensive guys. Of course the front needs some work, but a top 5 of Hank, Dats, Homer, Lang and Bert, Guerin, or Tkachuk does wonders when you consider the guy being replace will likely be Williams and/or Hudler. Hank - Dats - Homer Sammy - Lang - Guerin/Tkachuk/Bert Hudler - Draper - Lapointe/Mayers Cleary - Franzen - Maltby That doesnt look so bad when you consider the defense and goaltending package that goes along with it. Ive got a 5 buck bet that says if Detroit gets Lapointe, it will be Willy heading to Chicago.

Update on Holland's search for forwards.

I think nobody's brought him up because hes never been brought up in trade rumors involving the Wings. He has a no trade clause, and is supposedly only wanting to waive it to Toronto and Ottawa AND on top of that, he wants a contract extension for some security. I think thats whats turning the Wings off. They dont want to be obligated to work him into the lineup next year. The contract talks are apparently kind of ugly right now, with Blake saying the Islanders better sign him soon, or he wont re-sign with them period. Hes having a career year and theres speculation that the Islanders might trade him in order not to lose him. I dont think its likely, but theres media speculation nonetheless so we might as well speculate with them. Thats the part thats most fun anyways, right?

Update on Holland's search for forwards.

WHAT? Bert for Grigs AND a 1st is not a good deal. Grigs is the closest thing we have to a power forwad who's ready to come in and Bert wont play before the deadline. The only way I see this deal happening is if Bertuzzi will then sign a long-term contract with Detroit which, in that case, would be a fair offer. I agree Blake would be a good, fairly cheap option. People can knock him for his age or sieze, but hed be our fiestiest guy up front and our fastest bar none. Plus he scores ugly goals, goes to the net, and is oozing confidence right now. Not a bad option at all and lightyears ahead of Carter.

Update on Holland's search for forwards.

Id take Roberts and Stumpel over Carter any day of the week. I might even prefer Willy in the lineup over Carter. The last thing we need is a soft, lazy floater.
