Ah, yeah I forgot. I think you put the nail on the head there. This is a big game that would allow us to stay close with the Preds. The Wings want to stay away from the presidents trophy. On a more serious note, this team needs some changes. Not for the sake of making changes. Not because Im panicking. But because the hockey that the Stars are playing right now is PLAYOFF HOCKEY and the Wings are faling this pre-test big time. No name goalie making all the right moves, little energy, questionable desire, etc, etc. Im sitting here watching the game thinking "where have I seen this all before" I have no doubt that the game the Stars are playing right now is exactly the type of play well see in the playoffs.

Maybe well score 5 third period goals??

With the crappy lame s*** they call in the NHL nowadays, how was there not about 2 or 3 infractions that could have been called against the Stars there??

I think Kronwall was really sent back by that broken leg he got in LA. Does anybody else remember how well he was playing as a Griffins call-up that year?? He was incredible as a first year guy. Hell, he was better than some veterans for that stint.

Id be pissed if the Wings picked up Nolan without exhasuting all possibilities with Guerin and Tkachuk. Id prefer both those guys to Nolan simply because they are more fragile, but if Guerin and Tkachuk are unreachable, Nolan would be a great alternative. I know hindsight is 20/20, but the Wings wouldnt be scrambling around right now if theyd offered to Nolan what they offered to Willy...or a lousy 400k more for Guerin. Its kind of funny given the way this board was calling for the Wings to let go of Willy and go after Guerin and Nolan.

Ryan Smyth is equivalent to 3 of those guys COMBINED.

Seriously, why hasnt Bill Guerin's name come up as more than a passing thought in terms of the Wings interest. A fast gritty big goal-scoring winger whose cap hit would be around 500k?? What exactly about Bill Guerin do we NOT need?

Rough year even in the AHL. He has no chance up here. The hell Flip will go. Hes the Red Wings best forward in the rookie/prospect department right now. Williams, Hudler, and even Grigs in comparison to Flip are all way ahead on the shipping list. He probably wouldnt because 1) He has another year on his contract after this 2) Hes playing a lot more in Phoenix than he will in Detroit and 3) After leaving Edmonton and going to Phoenix, I doubt hell want to come back to this kinda weather.

Does anybody ever stop to think what it might to do to some of the Wings confidence and the image of the organization in general if he went around saying "Well, we were pansies out there tonight, got our asses smoked several times along the boards and, in general, looked like a bunch of figure skaters. We really have no one on this team who will fight or muck it up when it counts."?? The whole league knows the Red Wings are a soft team and undoubtedly, given the cap space and his willingness to trade draft picks, well pick up someone of physical significance at the trade deadline.

I dont know why so many people are calling for the Wings to get Lapointe. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy but being on the hook for 2.4M in 07/08 is waaay too much for Lapointe. Hes not a UFA this season. One of Guerin + Tkachuk, one of Laraque + Fedoruk. Laraque isnt a UFA either, but for some reason I wouldnt mind him being on our team for a little while. That would be sick, bot those guys are being sought after by many teams. I dont even wanna know how much that would cost us, especially from and interdivisional rival. Although I wouldnt mind getting Guerin and Mayers together.

What?? How many times are we going to use this excuse? Try pulling off that excuse in the playoffs. One of the things that makes a team good is their stamina and energy. The Wings have none of that lately and all we here is "4 games in a week," "back to back nights," etc. etc.

Maybe Fedoruk scoring was a blessing in disguise? Now maybe Holland will take a look at him. Forsberg can shine on a team with a pack of physical guys around him. You wont see that on the Wings. At this rate, the Wings should go after Guerin AND Roberts AND Asham/Fedoruk

who would want him??? Hes vying for crappiest goaltender in the NHL, ready to take the award from Cloutier. And I dont care how many stellar saves he makes. You are simply not a good goaltender if you give up 5 goals in the third period alone. Thats when he should buckle down more than anything.

Two good periods does not a good goaltender make. Especially when you let in 4 questionable goals.
