I remember last season there was talk about how the Red Wings specifically told Kronwall - after he came back from his injury - not to throw any big hits because they didnt want him to get injured again. I wouldnt be surprised if they're saying that to all the defenseman. None of them are bona fide fighters so they probably tell them not to get involved. HOWEVER, the one guy who I really cant excuse for his seeming disinterest in scrums and roughing is Franzen. Hes a big solid boy. I wonder if hes softened up a bit after his injury.

Who CAN go after the opposition?? We simply cannot have our guys going after heavyweights simply to "make a statement" which would probably be that even if any of our guys DID try and fight, theyd get hammered. I agree with you - Im going to be frickin pissed if Holland doesnt address our need for physicality.

That makes my skin crawl knowing that Nashville earned up to 12 million in a revenue-sharing payment. Undoubtedly, some of that money came from Detroit's pocket.

It makes a hell of a lot of sense considering we're talking about Ken Holland. And it makes even more sense knowing that the Wings could effectively replace Lang with Forsberg and easily ship off Lang to either Atlanta or New York, both who would love to have him. Even if the Wings do nothing else, Forsberg instead of Lang anchooring the 2nd line is an improvement in anybody's book and the fact that wed have the cap space to sign someone else afterwards can only push matters forth.

Zetterberg sucked in the playoffs and then scored 6 goals in his only 6 games. Theres no telling, especially with the energy (or lack thereof) and interest Lang has shown this year, that hell continue to perform well. Younger players get better, older players...On top of that, theres rumor after rumor that he hates Babcock (reasons obvious) and he hasnt been the player in the regular season that he has been over his past, oh, 5 seasons. That being said, I would hate to see Lang go for a pick or something, but if the land Forsberg AND they can land something impressive on top of that (Guerin, Tkachuk, Bert, Roberts, Modin) and need to clear space, I would entirely support trading Lang.

I hope it stays that way. I think the entire state of Michigan gets inside Turcos head.

You do know that the competition is coming in the form of guys like Bobby Ryan, Alexander Radulov and Shea Weber picks included, yes? To get a fully contracted Peter Forsberg, it will take that much. Although Todd Fedoruk being thrown in would be nice...

With all this talk about Forsberg to Detroit, how would you feel about Fedoruk being thrown in? I know I wouldnt mind...

and theres talk of the Ducks giving up Radulov, but as the papers say, Forsberg controls where he gets to go. Heres to hoping Team Sweden swings the deal our way. If Forsberg agreed to sign with Detroit, I would not surprised to see Hudler, a 1st rounder AND Kindl to the Flyers in return. I could see Kindl being of interest to Philly for some reason. Ken Daniels mentioned a few nights ago that the Wings were interested in Jamal Mayers as well. Theres talk of Radulov, but I dont know how true this rumors are given Radulov's talent. Then again, the Preds are making a big time push this year, and Forsberg can easily play Right WIng. He has many a time in the past. Poile may think this is his best chance for his team to win it all, so he might pull a Holland and give up a promising player and a high draft pick to get it. Then again, his trades so far havent exactly been risky. 6 million for Forsberg beats 7 million for Datsyuk.

I want the Wings to get Forsberg just so he doesnt go to Nashville!! Havent you guys heard the rumors??? Nashvilles hot on his trail too!! At any rate, landing Forsberg and then trading Lang to Atlanta sounds freaking awesome. Hope plausible it is, I have no idea. If the Wings trade Hudler and end up signing Forsberg to replace Datsyuk in the offseason, I wouldnt cry about. Especially if getting Forsberg rids us of Lang and gives us the cap space to bring in Roberts, Gelinas, Fedoruk maybe along with Forsberg??

Man, Im getting reaaallly worried about Nashville now. With them adding Vishnevski their defense gets stronger and more physical. Now I hear theyre trying to add Forsberg before the deadline. That scares the crap out of me knowing that the Preds are as good as they are and might get even sicker with Vishnevski and Forsberg.

Man, I only came in for the last 5 minutes. The Wings are playing with TONS of energy, but damn the Flames are PHYSICAL. Im scared there might be some injuries tonight with the way the Wings heads are getting knocked around.

Theres talk of the Wings wanting to add a gritty 3rd/4th line guy. Another report on spectors today says the Wings are "front runners for Peter Forsberg." Technically, a move that *could* happen is Peter Forsberg AND Todd Fedoruk to the Wings. No, Forsberg isnt a gritty guy, but Zetterberg is his protege and Forsberg does quietly have 38 points in 39 games bum foot, crappy team and all. Fedoruk, on the other hand, has an impressive 12pts in 38 games for a guy thats a known enforcer. Not sure what the Wings would give up, but its an interesting trade scenario to think about. Personally, Id prefer Guerin with the way hes playing, but Hollands aversion to players with balls makes that unlikely.

This isnt as great a deal as many think it is. Brad Stuart is the most talked about soon to be UFA defenseman right now next to Souray. Hell command big bucks and will likely test the market. Ference is a solid defenseman with a few good years left on his contract. Kobasew, although not doin too well this year, is still a solid young guy. Not a bad trade for Boston
