Aww jesus Dom!!
-
It would be nice if they called penalties on the right players....just a thought.
-
Two goals off blocked shots.
-
SICK HANK!!!!!!!!!!
-
Man everybody looks so fresh tonight. Lang, Hank, Dats, Kronner, Cleary, even Willy. Glad I didnt have to sit through the first period. Ref did a nice job checking Cleary there...
-
Yeah, that was one of the more obvious calls Ive seen lately. Cujo looked like he was at football practice working on his tackling.
-
Wow. I turn on the game and we score a minute later. Is Lang eating his wheaties?? He was flying out there. Just last week he was one of the worst guys on the ice. Nice pass and nice goal.
-
I think you mean Crosby's having a great year for Recchi
-
That would make the Pens pretty scary up front but to be honest, I dont think theyd get past an experienced defensive minded team in the playoffs.
-
Langs not going to be trade bait. There may be teams that could use him, but few are going to give up something worthwhile enough for Detroit to lose one of their biggest playoff performers. Lang saves his best hockey for the playoffs. No need to trade him now. Really, I think Detroit should trade the 1st rounder and dish off Willy for a low-key guy like Roberts or Modin. Detroit drafts well late and the 1st rounder will likely be no higher than about 25th. As for the Hudler discussion, nobody seems to bring up Filppula getting ice time either, and the reason he probably averages more ice time than Hudler is because he takes some shifts on the PK and hes a more responsible player. Theyre both rookies still getting used to the big league. The last thing Babcock wants to do with either is leave them floudering in a top 6 role which can be a huge detriment to their confidence if things dont go well.

Anybody know what this does to the Rags cap space?? Add? subtract?
-
YES! Keep the trades coming. I love player movement. Goodbye Avery!

Honestly, Detroit she not be too concerned about signing Datsyuk if he wants 7 million. Detroit could get Drury for about 5 million and be a stronger team because of it. Sykora, Gomez, Forsberg, Perreault, Comrie, and Lang are all also strong options that are cheaper and allow us to go after a few good wingers in the form of Blake, Zubrus, O'Neill, Tucker, Bertuzzi, Kozlov, Kariya, Hartnell, Doan, Nolan, Tkachuk, Guerin, Nagy, Modin, etc. Thats a pretty good bunch right there. If worse comes to worse, Flip can anchor the 2nd line with some solid wingers.

Amen. Yay for players - WHATEVER NATIONALITY - that need a kick in the pants to get going and screw their teams over when signing. This guy is the LAST thing we need. Its amazing how people complain about how the Red Wings lack heart, and then say we need to trade for a guy like this. Oy.

If Detroit is going to give up a 1st round pick for a punk, Id rather have it be a 20 goal scoring punk. Darcy Tucker is a more disciplined (hard to say that, i know) and more offensive version of Avery.

SFE: Wings looking at 'star player' by deadline

These are the guys that will probably be more or less available at the deadline Biron Smokes Bondra Modin Fedotenko Prospal Armstrong Bulis Tkachuk Guerin Roberts Bert Nagy Gelinas O'Neill Tucker Forsberg The nice thing is, the majority of those guys are gritty and good guys to have goin' into the playoffs. I know Lapointe is a central focus here, but he still has a year left on his contract. I dont know why the wings would want to take on Lapointe and have to pay him 2.4 next year. Personally, Id like to see Guerin here. Hes more or less solid in the playoffs, and he would come in at under 1M bucks. -

The Isles currently sit in the 10th spot. If they fall further out of contention points wise, the Red Wings should target Jason Blake. Im sorry, but your proposal is way off. First of all, theres no reason in hell why Edmonton would want to take on Lang for a few months, and second of all, why the hell would Detroit trade a young, reliable puck-moving defenseman locked up for a few years at a reasonable price for an UFA and a RFA??? -

Wasnt Roberts skeptical about signing with Florida because his family was in Toronto or he didnt want to leave Toronto or something to that effect?? If thats the case, Detroit would seem like a likely destination for Roberts being that its just a 4 hour trip up the 401. -

Williams and Lilja for Lapointe and Vandermeer is ideal. This is a deal that could be done. Just like that youve added a gritty suplemental goal scorer high on leadership and a guy who will drop the gloves that Chicago wants out of the lineup as it is. -

I dont think Grigorenko and a 1st rounder is that much. To be honest, I dont even think of Grigorenko as one of the Red Wings prospects because A) hes been recovering for so long and B) he keeps on wanting to stick it out in Russia. I wouldnt mind at all if Grigorenko was the starting point. A first rounder Im a little more skeptical about because I think the Red Wings may have the 24th pick or something by years end which is a lot better than theyve had in years. But to be honest, if we have a chance at a guy like Smyth, Id say go for the pick as long as theres a good chance hell sign with us. Hes a dynamic character and there arent many in the league with his package. If its for a guy like Forsberg, I wouldnt want to part with a 1st for him. The thing that worries me is that Detroit doesnt have much to give up in the way of impact roster players or even semi-attractive roster players. Jason Williams isnt exactly the pick of the litter. As for not being ready to let go of Grigs, you better start planning on it. Hes only the Wings property for the next 6 months. -

Im not surprised. I think thats just smart positioning by Greenstin. He knows Datsyuk wont get 7 million, but he also knows he can put Datsyuk out of the Red Wings reach with that price tag. I think thats just Greenstin's way of getting Datsyuk out into the free agent waters and drumming up a bidding war - which wont get anywhere close to 7 million. IMO, good for the Wings. Hes a fun guy to watch but, not when hes sitting on the sidelines while other teams are busting through the playoffs. -

Neil or Fisher??? Good luck with that. It would take a TON to get those guys away from Ottawa. Lapointe PLUS a star??? That would be incredible. Williams + Lapointe would actually probably be tipping the scales in Chicago's favor given that Willy is cheaper, younger, and has more skill. As for a star, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for it to be Ryan Smyth. Rumor has it that he was offered a 5M contract by Edmonton, but he turned it down in favor of testing the waters. That is a lot for Detroit, but if Schneider, Maltby, Lang, and Datsyuk go packing - or at least two of them- Detroit should have plenty to sign Smyth and bulk up in other areas as well. I know Im getting ahead of myself but Smyth is the guy I would give up a 1st rounder Plus for. Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Smyth anyone?? -
I'm apathetic as to whether Fedorov should come back or not, but I for some reason feel like if he were to come back, hed go back to being a dominant player.
-
Datsyuk for Smyth would be an AWESOME deal for Detroit...cant say the same for Edmonton.
-
I hope he doesnt miss a portion of the season. The last thing we need is our best forward being out of the lineup on a team which is already reallly weak up front. Not to mention if Zettberg is out, Samuelsson will play worse and possibly Homer too. They need him.
