WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)
YoungGuns1340 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Yup. Ozzies stopped a lot of rubber tonight. With the way Hiller has played, we need to test him a lot more. Its driving me crazy the way we keep tossing the pucks into the zone with no one to retrieve them. -

Kronwall can't do that. Way too obvious. -

This couldn't be a more frustrating game. -

Ericsson can't hesitate to take those shots. Easy blocks. -

I was referring to the shift by Ebbett's line, but whatever supports your argument. -

Until they elevate themselves above the Ducks like they can, it looks eerily similar to last years run. They've got a ton of things they can improve on. If they don't, it'll be 2007 all over again, yes. -

Well one things for sure. Hiller looks like crap tonight. I'll take it. At any rate, Samuelsson is money on the back-hand. He sucks with the wrister or slapper, but his backhand always manages to sneak by goalies. -

If you can't see that the Wings have only played half a period with the intensity they should, you're blind. Anaheim is hemming us in with no namers. -

This team is a joke right now. No one's even bothering to play with any energy. -

Went off the leg of Niedermayer. No chance for Ozzie. But who the f*** has the net? This team is crumbling just like they did in 07. -

Wow. A star player acting like a star player. Would be nice if our star forwards did that.. -

I have seen SO many goals more controversial than this one let go without a review. This is dumb. -

Rafalski still out, Chelios still in for game 2
YoungGuns1340 replied to IILeiBlazeII's topic in General
No way. The Wings PP is essential to beating the Ducks team. The playoffs are known for guys playing injured. I would actually wager the opposite. I think its more serious than they're letting on. -

This. The 5 minute PP that we had was essentially lifeless, with the exception of Franzen's play. We had them down for a man for FIVE STRAIGHT minutes WITHOUT BROWN, who is one of their top PKers. And all we managed was....well, nothing really. And yeah, Stuart was the one with the set up for Lidstrom's goal, so clearly a righty isn't essential to set up Lidstrom, which is why this thing pisses me off so much. There has to be a point where having better skills trumps a fricking dominant right hand. -
I understand where the OP is coming from. For a guy who came here to win the cup, he hasn't been as dominant as you'd expect. But then again, very few of our forwards have. Personally, I attribute it to Datsyuk and Hossa playing on the same line. I've never liked those two together. It takes them forever to form chemistry when united. The way I see it, the Wings really haven't had to rely on their big guns yet. They'll show up when we most need them to.

I just watched the recaps of the Pens-Caps games and HOLY HELL. That Varlamov save was huge. Let me just say - I HATE it when people call hockey moments "the best," because thats a purely subjective term, but damn if that save wasn't as close as it gets to the best I've seen in YEARS, I dont know what else is. That was effing nuts. Nothing overrated about it, either.

Please. Overrated. This team could barely hold their own against Philly, who made some many bone-headed moves and plays, I'm surprised they made it to the playoffs in the 1st place.
