Well, Stuart and Rafalski have really turned it up a notch so far.

The issue is this. 1. The people who CAN afford to go to Detroit games aren't likely to live near Detroit, and aren't likely to have the typical 9-5 jobs. Youre talking about doctors, lawyers, and businessmen living in Oakland County or similar areas most of which can't make a 7pm game. 2. The people that CANT afford the tickets ARE likely to live closer to Detroit, and are likely to hold 9-5 jobs - if any job at all. Those are the types that, in a booming economy (or even a stable one) would be buying up tickets left and right, even at $105. Detroit's unemployment rate is 21%. You're talking about ONE out of every FIVE people NOT having a job. Thats a s*** ton of people. Thats basically taking a filled up Joe Louis arena and saying 2,000 of the people here statistically don't have job. I'd like to see how many teams could get 2,000 unemployed fans to spend $150 on one ticket.

The game is at 7pm. Its on a Thursday. The tickets are expensive for most without jobs, and they aren't getting off work at 4pm. Plus its the 1st round. Its against the jackets. If I'm gonna drop ill-advised cash on a game, when I could watch it at home and scream and shout obscenities on end like I prefer to, I'll do it when we're deeper into the playoffs, and its against an interesting opponent.

So not ******* up and taking the clear-cut best picks every, when you consistently pick in the top 2, is some great drafting strategy? Not to mention getting the benefit of having high draft picks in a draft that combined TWO draft years. That Flyers fan has it right. Basically Bettman is saying, if you suck enough, then just get really high draft picks in the deepest draft of the century and build around them. Yeah thats such an easy path to emulate.

I was thinking yesterday how funny it would be if Ozzie got the goose egg, while goalies like Lundqvist, Luongo, and Brodeur all played last night and didn't get the shutout.

I love how everyone has been talking about Detroit's goaltending, yet nobody brought up the atrocities that Theodore and Biron tend to be in the playoffs. At least Osgood plays better in the playoffs. Edit: Cam Ward has looked like crap too.

Agreed. Nothing about those D pairings or top 2 lines scare me. Those top 2 lines are going to have to work hard for their goals. But its scary as hell to think about our 4th line going up against theres. At worst, I think the Jackets 3rd line is going to shut down ours, but Im not too worried about them hurting us. The 4th line on the other hand...
