4/15/09 GDT: Around the NHL Round 1 Game 1
YoungGuns1340 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
Holy F. Ovechkin with 6 hits and 6 shots on goal in ONE period. Nuts. -
When the game was big? An oh so big regular season game? Haha. Cute. If Detroit wasn't shaking in their boots about Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby, you think they're overwhelmed by the presence of Brassard, Filatov, and Voracek? I understand having good offensive players is a new concept over in Columbus, but the Wings are used to dealing with better competition in the playoffs.

Dan Cleary Game 1 Status? (mod edit: Cleary to play)
YoungGuns1340 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Everytime Sammy sees 2nd line ice time, I die a little inside. Zetterberg is going to have to deal with this schmucks f***-ups night in and night out. -
Blue Jackets doing their homework for Wings -- literally

Haha. I laughed out loud at this. -
He looks like he should be playing softball, not hockey.

So BJ fans how do the playoffs work in hockey?
YoungGuns1340 replied to softshoes's topic in General
Thats an interesting job you must have, considering you were deemed competent despite the fact that you can't even spell a simple word such as "amusing." Perhaps the standards for holding a job is simply much lower in Columbus than it is in Detroit. Nice job representing the Blue Jackets, though. Props. Also, its quite interesting that Columbus and the greater Columbus area is so great when it ranks the 32nd biggest metro area, whereas Detroit is ranked the 11th largest metro area. Clearly not that many people think its so great. I honestly cannot believe that somebody would come in here, pimping the city of Columbus, that isn't even a Jackets fan. -
I find it funny that no one has even brought up the possibility that Nash's game won't translate in the post-season. Nobody seems to have considered the fact that hes taking his franchise into the playoffs for their first time in history, with that C on his chest. Everyone will be looking to this kid to be superhuman. Thats a lot of pressure. Not to mention the amount of attention hes going to receive.

TSN Reports Draper out first 2 games of playoffs
YoungGuns1340 replied to Mickeyisms Rule!'s topic in General
Cleary will probably be back in the lineup. If not, they call up Leino. -
f*** Sammy on the 2nd line. Hudler is a wizard with those passes. He should be on the 2nd so he can feed the puck to Franzen and Hank. Sammy on the second line makes my eyes bleed. He is so good at rendering great shifts by his linemates useless and/or unproductive.

How do you drop 120 bucks on a sport you know nothing about? Thats the only part I cant understand. If youre just going to the game for fun, hell, who cares. But if you're parading around like a real fan, at least know what sport you're watching. Anyways, I bet you could find some people here in Detroit that would make those same comments. Maybe. -
PS 2009 Round 1 Photoshop War: Columbus Blue Jackets
YoungGuns1340 replied to Matt's topic in Hall of Fame
I also don't get what the obsession is with bashing Detroit fans and their livelihood. Is it funny that people are losing their jobs and homes? Thats reality. Its like making fun of someone for having a terminal illness. I like the Franzen one though. And whats up with the *** insinuations these days. As if being *** (or a woman, for that matter) is something that makes you a bad hockey player. Ever heard of this guy name Eric Lindros? Fact: he's ***. Didn't make him bad at hockey.- 687 replies

The "I Support Dan Cleary and Brad Stuart" Thread
YoungGuns1340 replied to xBrave_Heartx's topic in General
Thats a stupid response, unless you were trying to be an *******. No one was insinuating that the Wings can't win with him. No guy has that much of an effect on a team. But would it be a stretch to say that the Wings could win a cup without Cleary? Probably not. I don't mind Cleary, but hes expendable with Helm and Leino as options. -
Every bottom seed in the NHL has a "goalie that can stand on his head." Thats how most of those bottom seeds get into the playoffs in this first place. Thats also the reason why those kinds of teams don't get any further than the bottom seed - because they don't have a complete team. Columbus could have Marty Broduer in net. Hell, the Jackets could have Brodeur in net and be as effective at employing the trap as the Devils once were, and its STILL going to come down to the Wings. It doesn't matter how good Mason plays, if the Red Wings want it, they'll get it. Simple as that. No goalie - Mason or anyone else - is going to stand in the way of a determined Wings team, unless they have talent throughout. Something CBJ, and most other teams, don't have.

Round 1: Comparitive Stats for Detroit and Columbus
YoungGuns1340 replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
I'm hoping we blow most of thse statistics out of the ******* water. -
I didn't even see your response, but when scanning down the list of match-ups, once I got to the Rangers, that was my pick. The Rags don't stand a chance. They don't have the guns to shut down all that offense on Washington, and they don't have the guns to compete.
-
They worked hard once they saw that getting that 50th win might be in doubt. Once they got it, though, they went into rest mode. They flipped the switch on April 3rd - after the players meeting - and played near perfect games against Minnesota and Buffalo, as they fought for playoff spots. We'll be ok. The Wings have an 8-0 ass whooping to look back on. They won't take the BJs lightly.
-
Of course. Every time you bash Sammy, he always ends up doing something productive like scoring a game winner. He's amazing at it. I know of very few players who can consistently suck shift after shift, and somehow still come up with a goal. Or 20. Sammy does it all the time.

The "I Support Dan Cleary and Brad Stuart" Thread
YoungGuns1340 replied to xBrave_Heartx's topic in General
I support any player who is energetic, physical, and plays their best hockey in the post-season. So if both guys do that, then all else is forgiven. Even Stuart's horrific regular season. -
This had to happen, and I love this move. Is Draper still injured? I guess its possible that Helm could just be replacing Drapes. Too bad it won't be Sammy though. Hes been terrible lately. Kopecky has been blah, and Maltby has picked it up. Honestly though, I could care less who he replaces on the 4th line. Just glad hes in.

I'm excited for the playoffs to start, simply because I've forgotten what this team looks like when it plays with motivation and urgency.
-
f*** this Wings in 6 business. Usually I'm apprehensive about first round opponents, but I'm feeling uncharacteristically good about this set up. Wings in 5. I thank god that we got our asses whooped by them 8-whatever this season. Thats one of those regular season losses that you can't forget. The Wings will have that in mind come Thursday.
-
This game is a perfect punctuation mark to a half-assed season. I've never been so happy to see the regular season over with, and the playoffs begin.
-
I made that up, because he apparently doesn't really want that 98th point.
-
The reason Datsyuk wears #13 is because he thinks 98 is unlucky.
-
Nice kill, Wings!! Oh, wait a minute..
