Good to hear that. Because Holland would easily match an offer for $2.5. You obviously have no clue what 57 point 25 year olds are worth.

GM: Wings did shopping during season......
YoungGuns1340 replied to HudlerFanatic's topic in General
I'm actually more excited about having an energetic third line, and a physical fourth line. How long has it been since we had either? I'm sick of 3 skilled lines, and then the Line of Futility. -
Yes, because offer-sheets are thrown about willy nilly. And I'm SURE teams are going to be gunning for Hudler at 3M, when they know Boston can't match an offer for Kessel at $5M.
-
Sweet. Now lets move on already. Anyone thinking he was actually going to sign for 4M is off their rocker. No one takes a 50% paycut from what they were offered not even 12 months ago. I'm pretty sure Hossa knows he can take a "discount" of 6M per year and still get a long-term contract from someone.

Chris Neil turned down the Ottawa Senators'
YoungGuns1340 replied to HudlerFanatic's topic in General
I can see this being legit. When not one, but TWO of your roster players are out for extended periods of time because they suck at fighting and shouldn't be fighting in the first place, you need to do something about it. I'm sure Kenny Holland has visions of Big-E getting in over his head and being put out cold for a few games, if not more. That should be enough to motivate him to look for a legit tough guy. -

The key to the "Chris Neil turns down 1.7M offer from the Ottawa Senators" might have a lot less to do with the "1.7" and a lot more to do with the "Ottawa Senators" part. Who wants to willingly climb into that black hole? -
Aaron Downey and Darren McCarty will not be offered contracts

Or the beginning. Hes going to make an awesome color guy. -
Then why would you use that justification for Lebda? The difference between Meech and Lebda is only 167k, but the difference between experience and ability is much bigger than that. Lebda is slightly better than Meech at - literally - everything. The only way Meech sticks around is if we are so hard up for cap space that we need to keep Meech for his versatility. The issue here is more likely the fact that we have 8 defenseman signed, not an issue of cap space.

Hes a great young defennseman. Moves the puck well, big, uses his body, has some offense. And hes still young at 25 years old. I doubt he'll ever be the physical Dman that Pronger is, or the offensive powerhouse that Lidstrom is, but the important thing is that hes probably the most well-rounded defenseman under the age of 28. And hes about 10x better defensively than Phaneuf is. But then again, many Dmen are.
-
Not really. For a Dman of his calibre, just entering his prime, and finally playing for a real team, its a steal. Good to know we'll have a 35 year old Rafalski for 600k cheaper though. *facepalm*

Redden and Drury. Those contracts are right up there with Campbell's.

The $4 Million bonus is NOT, in fact, a bonus. Its $4 Million of Heatley's salary up front. Once July 1st rolls around, most owners will be a lot more interested in Heatley when his cap hit is 7.5M, but the team only has to pay him 3.5 of it.
-
I hope they do. Bring back the whole ******* team. Theres a reason teams rarely repeat, and its this thing called desire and motivation. Its a lot easier to go the extra mile when you know how much it sucks to lose it all in the end. But its a lot harder when you've spent the last year reveling in the glory of a Stanley Cup victory.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
YoungGuns1340 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I never said he didn't play well throughout the regular season, or in the playoffs for that matter. I said he never fit in with this team. And he didnt. Outside of back-checking and playing a strong two-way game, his work in the neutral and offensive zones were anything but the Red Wings style. -
1. Back-checking belongs nowhere in the definition of being a powerforward. 2. Kopecky isn't strong, hes not ABLE to fight, and he doesnt intimidate anyone. I've never seen someone with so much man love for a hockey player without a modicum of talent.
-
Funny talk from the guys who think Nash is a power forward. Three career fights and an average of 69 hits per season over the last 3 seasons, and just 43 hits in a fourth season where he played 54 games. Call me crazy, but if you're a power forward, you should at least be able to average a hit per game.
-
Thats fine and all, except that the Wings aren't handcuffed. IF an offer-sheet does come his way, they elect arbitration, which allows them ample time to trade him, and hes protected from actually doing anything about the offer-sheets.

I think Fiddler might end up looking for more than minimum wage..

AND HUNGRY HOWIE EATS UP ANOTHER PUCK!! WHAT A DELIVERY FROM HUNGRY HOWIE!!!
-
Why did you put up a picture of Ericsson? Because hes a beast on the penalty kill and blocks shots like its his only route to a paycheck? We might lose our Scuderi. You dont replace that with a Letang, no matter how big he is.
-
Holland should make a pitch for Pahlsson, simply because it would make our defensive forward depth one for the ages.
-
Money that the Wings don't have to give.
-
What have they promised Hossa that they would be going back on by negotiating to trade his rights? To the contrary - Neither Holland nor the Wings organization are dumb enough to twiddle their thumbs while Hossa takes his time instead of working out a potential deal should it come to that. You don't wait til the 48 hour mark to start working on trading a guys rights that expire at the end of that period.
-
We won the cup without Hossa, and replacing Samuelsson with Leino is no loss. The only question mark is Hudler, which, if he ends up leaving for whatever reason, Holland will surely address with some scoring for the 3rd line. As long as Leino, Filppula, and Helm don't take any steps back, I don't see what the problem is. In fact, I'm of the opinion that the Wings suffered from having too many cooks in the kitchen this past season. I'm honestly more concerned about Lilja not coming back.
