Where are all those guys saying Backstrom is overrated like they were earlier in the season?

PLEASE let our offense play like this in the playoffs.

Backstrom and Clutterbuck are the only ones that have done much for the Wild. Surprising, considering their playoff position.

Neither. You hope the Wings use this game as prep for the playoffs, and are prepared to know how to deal with deflating goals, despite playing well all over the ice.

Eh, bad pass by Ozzie, but we've seen worse from him. The only thing I'm concerned about is, if this game were a playoff game, and the Wings came out flying like they are, and they're up 2-0, and then a goal like THAT goes in, its a HUGE momentum swing.

Hm, you're right. Thats what Ken Daniels said the last time we played Minnesota. He must've meant conference, or I'm remembering it wrong.

Playing Sammy with Hudler is a waste. Hudler looks great. Datsyuk looks great. Hossa looks great. Defense is doing pretty good. Good stuff.

Datsyuks first point against Minny this season. Hes now scored a point against EVERY team this season. Except the Wings

What the hell is with all the Crosby nominations? He isnt even the MVP on his own team, but PENS FANS own admission.

Khabibulin has not been bad this season. He was the Hawks MVP for a stretch of games there, more than we can say for either of our goaltenders. At all. At any rate, we'll probably end up with Ozzie/Howard next season, and then loathe the fact that itll cost us out the ass to trade for one during the season.

At this point, it doesn't matter who the goaltender is. Howard. Ozzie. Conklin. Its all been s***ty to shoddy goaltending game in and game out with the good performances being the exceptions. I'm past goaltending. As long as our defense can limit the shots and our offense is potent, we'll be okay. But if our skaters dont come to play, we're done.

Wow, I cant even imagine what that feels like. And from the sounds of it, it sounds like this Sutherland dude was simply taking the corner too sharp, and it cost 'em. I've done my fair share of speeding and stuff, but I'm careful as all get out with a pack of other people in the car. Poor guy. Talk about perspective.

Why is this news? Osgood has been telling everyone he's ready for the majority of the season, and every time hes said it, nothings changed. Lets just hope for a fluke.

As other posters have said both this year and in years past, its not the opponent that anyone is worrying about. Its Detroit. They're their own worst enemy. I have mad love for Datsyuk this season. The list of guys who have given their effort 100% night in and night out starts and stops with him. No Lidstrom. No Zetterberg. No Hossa or Franzen. Hes the only guy who has had any accountability for the entire 70-some games. Hes really a special player, and has turned into an incredible leader.

As far as the competition, that competition is going to be more talented than the Blues and likely just as hungry. If Detroit plays this sort of game against half the teams they'll face in the playoffs, they'll be lucky to come back from being down 2-0 to begin with.

The thing is, the first few goals were on the D, but when 4 goals have gone in - no matter if they're the Ds fault or not - the goalie HAS to shut the door. That 5th goal simply cannot go in. Even if its one. Theoretically, thats too many.

Larsson? Why not. We've tried everything else. Chechmanek on a tryout contract? Hasek? Cloutier?

Thats not the Ds fault - thats the goaltending there. The problem with this team is this: 1. If our goaltending sucks, our defense cant bail us out. 2. If our D sucks, our goaltending can't bail us out. ONE of those two things has to be PERFECT for us to compete.

Its incredible how well we've done with such spotty goaltending. Between Osgood and Conklin, I think we probably have about 8 or 10 games where our goaltending has been good as the average teams goaltender.
