This is exactly the type of game where the lack of an energy line or a big hitter is killing us.

I swear, Babs must've implemented some new rule that you have to make 3 dekes before shooting the puck.

Yeah...the replay shows a bit of intereference.

Doug Weight Wishes he was a Red Wing

Signing Weight for something like 850k, 1 year would be exactly the type of signing that could help Detroit make a good transition between changing caps. He'd be an awesome 3rd line center and a great PP specialist.

Im just happy the shots aren't reversed, and were down some goals. At least were breaking the trends in some way.

Wasnt a bad period defensively, and Conks did what he had to do. But the offense? Where is it?

Why isnt Ericsson on the PP? Whats the logic in that? Play the eff out of the kid. Hes 25, and our spot in the playoffs is locked up. I dont know how you can hold back from putting a guy on the PP that has an 18 ft wingspan and a 100mph shot.

If the Wings plan on gliding into the playoffs, I'm crossing my fingers for a repeat of 02. They've looked dead for the past few weeks.

He looks good tonight. I'd be a lot easier on Kronwall if he turns out to be one of the guys who really finds an extra gear in and towards the playoffs every year.

I cant wait to see a Sammy-less team next year. I hope Ericsson and Winchester drop em.

Lidstrom on Jim Rome Is Burning

Haha right. Lidstrom is going to go on National TV and suggest that both his GM and his teammate have dropped the ball in one fell swoop.

Conklin to start Thursday; Rafalski out again

If you have no idea what I'm referring to, then you shouldn't respond to it.

Conklin to start Thursday; Rafalski out again

We need Conklin to be our starter come playof. We don't want the Conklin as back-up curse following us into the playoffs.

    The Last 10 Games

The effort was definitely not there. I was at the game, and every player - even Datsyuk - was prone to floating that night. Honestly, the Islanders game looked like the first game back after a few days of partying.

I didnt get to see the game. How did Ozzie look? From the sounds of the thread, not too good.

3/27 GDT: Islanders 2 at Red Wings 0

Don't feel bad. I actually chose to go to this game over a couple others because I thought to myself "The Islanders? Easy win. 3 goals for us at least." And then my buddy started joking with me before the game. "Watch us get our asses kicked tonight..." Oops. I was ready to stand on the corner outside the Joe asking every Red Wing to pay me about $4 each.

3/27 GDT: Islanders 2 at Red Wings 0

For the first night possibly all year, Ozzie was the only one that came to play. I was at the game, and frankly, I want my money back. What an embarassing display. They half-assed it all night. And you can defend the team all you want, but they could've clinched the division tonight with a win, and put some real space in between them and San Jose. Home advantage could be the deciding factor in the playoffs, and if we come up against San Jose, the season series says the home team will win. If that happens, we can all point to this game where the Red Wings mailed it in all because they were playing against a bottom feeder. With a better work ethic, this was two easy points in the bag tonight. Instead, every puck battle was lost and passes were sloppy. Too much relaxation on these past two days off. As one of the guys next to me said on the way out after the game, the best part of the night was seeing the 106 year old lady on the jumbotron. We should've put her in a jersey and see what she could do tonight.

    thurs 3/26 GDT

I'm going to the game tomorrow, and I'm hopping the Wings wallop the Islanders good. If my quick math is correct, we have a better goal differential than the Sharks by ONE goal, so a 6-1 victory, or something along those lines would be huge if the tie-breaker comes down to goal differential. The Wings better make damn good use of this late season game against a bottom-feeder like the Isles.

    Franzen

The current figure for how many points Crosby and Malkin get when on the ice together is about 49% of overall point totals for Malkin, and a little bit higher for Crosby, according to someone else's calculations. They aren't holding down 2 separate lines all night long.

Luongo on his way to Detroit?

P.S. Seeing this thread title on the main board reminds me of a few years ago. "Datsyuk for Luongo!" some said. Haha. Then he went to Vancouver for an average Dman and a shell of a player. Yikes.

Luongo on his way to Detroit?

Where are you getting that idea? No one said anything about the Lidstrom cap being implemented. With grim projections that the cap could drop to 48M, no Stanley Cup contender - not playoff contender, Stanley Cup contender - is going to be throwing Lidstrom-esque numbers at Luongo. Hell, if Luongo wants to play for the Wings, he may have go to with Brodeur's figures.

Luongo on his way to Detroit?

Not really. It depends more on who retires, namely Lidstrom, how far the cap goes down, and who we trade this off-season, and possibly next. If the cap goes down too much, and payroll deductions aren't instituted like they were when the cap was first imposed, then the market should be mayhem. A lot of teams will have to get creative with trades, buyouts, and FA contract offers. Its essentially impossible to determine what moves can be made, and what moves are going to have to be made.

Luongo on his way to Detroit?

I'm sure all NHL players are well in tune with the fact that their paychecks are going to decrease on the whole considering the economy. If we consider it, those who are directly affected by it consider it. I'm guessing Luongo means a general paycut from what he could earn on the market. That said, I cant wait to see what the middle men of the NHL are going to make. Hopefully no more 55 point guys earning over 4M per year. Considering the way contracts used to be, I cant believe its even gotten that far.
