As much as I want the Caps to keep chugging along ahead of NYR, MTL, and the Pens, its cool to see Schneider get a point on the PP tonight.

I really think the Wings should demote Stuart to the bottom pairing when he returns. Lilja-Rafalski isnt bad, but Lidstrom-Kronwall has turned Kronner's game around. Plus I think Stuart might benefit from Lebda's speed and reduced minutes overall.

Yeah, I still think we're playing pretty well. Even the defense looks decent on the boards behind the net, where we usually get beaten.

It always surprises me to hear that we're one of the best faceoff teams in the NHL. I always go back to '06 when we got killed by the Oil in the faceoff circle nightly in the playoffs.

Nah, since you just started watching last year, then you werent a fan in 2005/2006 when the Preds and Wings were two of the best teams in the West. THAT was the best year of the rivalry. I think maybe that made Crisp and Pete a little more resentful when talking about the Wings, maybe? I don't know.

I heard a lot of Wings fans bashing the Preds announcers in years past, particularly Crisp, but I've been forced to watch some Wings-Preds games via the Preds feed this year, and they seemed really objective. Have they gotten better, or what? Is it just cause the Wings-Preds aren't as much of a rival as they were a couple years ago?

People were expecting Kopecky to be the next Maltby/Drake. Those aren't exactly sky-high expectations.

His post was a shot at how Holland claimed one of the reasons he brought Drake in was to "be a mentor to Kopecky." A lot of good that turned out.

Agreed. I love Ozzie as a Red Wing - he got some of the loudest cheers at the Stanley Cup Parade from the crowd - but its gotten to the point where several times this season the Wings have to win in spite of Osgood.

I'm not going to argue the defense hasn't been bad, but while the defense may be 50/50, Osgood has been about 10/90. Also, I simply think there are too many factors to go against the "the wings play better in front of Conklin" argument. To begin with, Conklin sees MORE shots than Ozzie, yet his save percentage is drastically better. Same with his GAA. And if the Wings play worse defense in front of Ozzie, in conjunction with his poor play or "bad bounces", then how come he has a record of 18-5-7. Bad bounces + poor goaltending + bad defense is a lot for the offense to overcome in order to pull off the win, as opposed to simply bad defense alone.
