Thats worse than most of the stuff Eklund dreams up. Christ almighty...
-
He goes unnoticed because he doesn't do anything noticeable. Including his "hits."
-
Thats because Kopecky's hits are crap. Was he credited for the "hit" he put on Hamhuis that got himself smoked? I would take Datsyuk's hits over Kopecky's any day of the week. Just because you get credit for a hit doesn't mean its actually doing anything. Thats my biggest issue with Kopecky. Either hes being lazy or stupid when it comes to hitting, but he just sucks at hitting. 84 hits and not one of those hits has been impressive. In fact, with the way he falls down on over half of his hits, his hitting game is more of a detriment to the game than it is a positive, because he takes himself out of the play all the time.

Red Wings' Darren McCarty back on the ice
YoungGuns1340 replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
I'm pretty sure it can be retroactive, so the Wings can still save cap space if he goes on it, even if he isnt on LTIR yet. -
If we lose Franzen and Hossa, then Filppula definitely stays on the roster. But I propose 4 names that I'd like the Wings to consider: Cole, Knuble, Tanguay, Moen. I really think Tanguay would be a good fit here, and is the kind of talent that would fall between that of Franzen and Hossa. As much as I’d like to find a route to acquire/sign a top 6 physical forward, that’s simply not who the Wings are. Honestly, with the way the Wings D hasn’t missed Stuart for a second, I say we get him of the books before his NTC kicks in. And Im not just saying this for s***s – I really think its something the Wings should be active about. The cap is going to drop drastically after next season. Are we going to want to be holding nearly 4M in a guy that we can’t trade and who is, at best, a 4th Dman? In this first scenario, the Wings would be offering a contract probably of at least 4 years to a guy like Tanguay, and that might be a risk they don't want to take, with the uncertainty of the future cap number. But otherwise, I think its a pretty reasonable roster. Leino @ 2 years, 1.1 per Hudler @ 3 years, 3M Tanguay @ 4 years, 4.85 per Moen @ whatever length, about 700k per. Leino(1.1) – Datsyuk(6.7) – Holsmtrom(2.25) Hudler(3) – Hank(6.08) – Tanguay(4.85) Cleary(2.85) – Filppula(3) – Helm(.6) Maltby(.88) – Draper(1.58) – Moen (.7) Downey(.5) Lidstrom(7.45) – Kronwall(3) Rafalski(6) – Ericsson(.9) Lilja(1.2) – Lebda(.65)/Meech(.65) Osgood(1.4) Howard(.71) Total(56.05) OR...if the Wings wanted to be more careful, and only offer short term contracts to UFAs, then this: Same contracts for Leino and Hudler, but Knuble, a 36 year old, only gets 2 years - probably the longest contract he'll get from anyone, regardless of the team. But Knuble is a great option for replacing Franzen on the 2nd unit. Knuble is a great garbage goal scorer, and has a junkyard dog work ethic - something the Wings could really use no matter where they are. And then a rebound contract for Cole, whose UFA value could increase drastically after posting subpar numbers this year - a one year contract at ~ 3M per. Cole would likely be intrigued by the possibility of playing on such a great offensive team, likely being centered by one of Datsyuk or Zetterberg which could greatly bolster his offensive numbers on the season. Leino @ 2 years, 1.1 per Hudler @ 3 years, 3M Knuble @ 2 years, 2M per Cole @ 1 year, 3M Leino(1.1) – Datsyuk(6.7) – Holsmtrom(2.25) Hudler(3) – Hank(6.08) – Cole(3) Cleary(2.85) – Filppula(3) – Knuble(2) Maltby(.88) – Draper(1.58) – Helm (.6) Downey(.5) Lidstrom(7.45) – Kronwall(3) Rafalski(6) – Ericsson(.9) Lilja(1.2) – Lebda(.65)/Meech(.65) Osgood(1.4) Howard(.71) Total(55.5)

+1. Malkin is better than Crosby. The only way you're gonna get the press you deserve as a non-North American player is to market yourself. Ovechkin has a magnetic personality all his own, and the Caps/NHL caught on quickly, and realized hed be marketable in fricking Mozambique, if he could hack it in Portuguese. Ovy came in to the league with hype, but he himself built on that and made himself a face. Just another reason to respect the guy.
-
Sure. Lets spend ALL our cap space on the 30+ crowd.
-
Parise plays 15 seconds less than Datsyuk overall, but 15 seconds more than Datsyuk on the PP. And Datsyuk also has a game in hand.
-
Sigh. Hes only been better than Nick offensively. And the fact that he is a 4th forward says nothing about his defensive game, which is what earns him the flack.
-
Hossa seems to thrive when hes playing on a line with people who just get out of his way. Hank and Hossa together was too much at once. Hossa is doing what he does - score. And Hank and Pavel are doing what they do when they're together - everything. You could stick anyone on the Eurotwins wing, and anyone at center for Hossa, and both guys would thrive.
-
1 point behind Ovechkin, but Ovechkin has a game in hand. 4 points behind Crosby, but Datsyuk has a game in hand. Either way, considering none of the top 3 are HALF the player Datsyuk is defensively, and the he gets 2-3 minutes fewer per game than all those guys, what does that say? Best forward in the NHL this season.
-
Datsyuk is only 4 points back from Crosby with a game in hand.
-
Hudler runs that ******* PP. Damn.

Is there some communal s***ting ritual thats been established by the Wings this year? The Wings D s***s the bed, and so does the goaltending. Wings goaltending s***s the bed, and so does the D. Even if its just one goal a game, its going to kill us when our D and goaltending cant back one another up for the life of them.
-
Rafalski....really? What was that?
-
I'd love to see Pavs to Hank for the hattie.
-
Zetterberg is ******* money.
-
They haven't been the typical Red Wings shots. A lot of them - most of them - have been smart shots by the Wings.
-
This Preds assistant coach is completely out of breath. Jesus. And hes a coach?
-
I don't have anything wrong with the goals, but when the other goalie is downright stealing the show, we need our goaltenders at their best. Nothing against Conklin - just that the Wings need a solide effort from EVERYONE when our goalie is simply outmatched and their goalie is on fire. This is reminiscent of a million playoff games we've seen before.
-
You know, this is exactly the type of game that is gonna kill us in the playoffs. We dominate offensively. Their D is crap. Our D is good. Our goaltending is adequate, but their goaltending steals several goals, and we pay the price.
-
I hate to say it, but Nick Lidstrom has been standing in front of the net on a LOT of goals against this season. Whats that all about?
-
You have to do everything you can to avoid the goalie. Kopecky got pushed before he was on top of Rinne. He had time to get out of the way. Its homerism to look at it any other way. We'd be calling for X players head had he been pushed, skated a few feet, and then clocked Conks in the head as he fell.
-
Can't believe you guys think that was a bad call on Kopay. We've gotten nearly all weak calls so far, and Kopecky didn't get pushed. He did himself no favors by making it look intentional. Not much you can do on that goal.
-
You HAVE to call Kopecky for goaltender interference on that. The calls we've gotten have been weak, and us Wings fans know that Kopecky has no balance, but the refs don't.
