No, the 2nd goal was weaker than Maltby's. In fact, the 2nd goal was the worst of all three given up.
-
Legace is saving us today. A decent goaltender would've probably stopped all of those goals.
-
Its Chelios. Chelios is the main reason why our PK isnt where it was last year. Lidstrom and Chelios both played 3:57 on the PK last year, to lead the league, with Lilja being 3rd. Now that Detroit only has Lilja and Lidstrom, they've had to use Kronwall, Stuart, and Rafalski a lot more on the PK, and that trio is average at best defensively.
-
So this is how it feels to have your goaltender being the stronger of the two.
-
Oh. My. God.
-
Haha does anyone else think the refs are just calling arbitrary penalties because nothings happening in the game?
-
Give them time. They're still shocked the line of futility produced!
-
But Helm does. If you trade Filppula, then Helm probably comes up full time and Neil replaces Maltby or Kopecky on the 4th, since we'd have the cap space to scratch guys at ease. Ideally, though, if we're trading Filppula for a forward, a guy like Colby Armstong makes a lot of sense.
-
No. I love Neil, but Smith is a JOKE now. Hes only a more physical version of Chelios at this point, and he wouldn't see any ice time. I love Smith too, but you're trading Filppula AND a pick, for two UFAs, one of whom will be nothing more than a locker room presence. If we're giving up Filppula and a pick, I'd rather get a guy like Niklas Backstrom or Colby Amstrong coming back the other way, the kind of pick depending on which guy, and then throwing another pick at Neil.
-
Nah, who would he fight with? Detroit is about as scary as a yorkshire terrier still in the womb, and thats way Murray is going with 7 Dmen and sitting Janssen.
-
If a hockey player's salary is based on playing the given 82 games per year, and not any possible playoff games, then Kronwall just earned $12,195.122 for that period of hockey. Rafalski just made $24,390.244. Even Draper made $6,422.76 for 20 minutes of nothingness. Oh, to be a professional athlete.
-
And if you're listening to the Versus announcing, it only makes it worse.
-
Wow....lost admist all the boredom....but did we just pull out a first period with no goals against?
-
How sad it is when the Wings aren't even separating themselves from the worst team in the West? Yikes.
-
Why is Kopecky on the PK? I how to ******* God this is part of some master plan to make Kopecky look like hes worth more than waivers at the deadline.
-
Who IS this announcer? "So Draper did this thing back in 1998 and....Berglund with a great chance and....so Kris had to follow up Kevin Hodgson...and Steen takes the puck...." Between the announcing, the dead crowd, and the performance on the ice, this feels like a beer league game.
-
"Yes, there are a handful of players who have more fights than the entire Wings roster."
-
Have these Versus guys spoken about the game at all? They're just rambling..
-
Not a bad trade all around. Stempniak was a good pickup for the Leafs, and I dont know that they miss Steen.
-
Haha I saw that too. Jesus, I forgot the Blues got Cola from the Leafs.
-
Yes, versus, the fact that Hudler only has 3 assists in his past 5 games is the reason the Wings aren't winning games.
-
Are people just thinking about next year? Do you understand how nice its going to be 5 and 6 years from now when we're paying a spending a combined 19M on 3 guys 34 or older, and guys like Larsson, Helm, Emmerton, Abedlkader, Ericsson, and Kindl are worth 4 or 5 times what they're worth now? Its a great idea to mortgage the future in order to secure ANOTHER superstar forward who hasn't put over the edge this season, and likely isn't to do so when our depth is further depleted.
-
This was suggested by someone else around these parts, and at the time, I didn't think it was such a great idea because it was earlier in the season and I didn't see it as an upgrade. But with the way our goaltending has really just continued to embarrass itself, ANYTHING might be an upgrade right now. Or rather, at the deadline. So I can't take credit for the idea, but I think its time we start hoping Florida drops a little in the standings so we can get our hands on Craig Anderson. He's a UFA at seasons end, makes 550k on the year, has played 22 games, has a GAA of 2.47 and a save percentage of .930. What intrigues me even more is that he could just be a late bloomer. Hes 27 years old - only 3 years older than Howard - yet has had great numbers in limited appearances over the 5 years. And those numbers haven't taken a hit as hes seen more and more games. Hes also never played for particularly great teams. First the Blackhawks before they improved, and now the Cats. He saw 17 games last season, and posted a .935 save percentage and a 2.25 GAA. He's on pace right now to play about 35 games, although 30 is more likely. Of course, he hasn't seen any playoff time before, but you have to start somewhere, and if Osgood pulls a Hasek and really stinks it up in the first few games, if we were to go with Conklin, he wouldn't have much more experience than Anderson. He really seems like the ideal candidate for Detroit to look at. He probably wouldn't be cheap to acquire, is a UFA, cheap as hell, and having a great season. Florida and Detroit have also been trade partners in the past. Also, if Florida wasn't out of the playoff race at the deadline, we might still be able to nab Anderson considering Florida already has their #1 in Vokoun, and we could give them Conklin in addition to a pick or low-level prospect. Thoughts?

I met Lang once in Birmingham. Good guy, down to earth. Family man too. Too bad he went down, but let me just say this: Hudler > Lang The little guy says Czech mate to his former roomate.

Dallas Drake...the first time. Wendel Clark too.
