I said this in another thread, but I was there and it wasn't an issue for us. We were mid-bowl in the corner. I was expecting to not see much, but it wasn't bad at all.

Wings to host NHL Winter Classic within next 2 years
Trapt1307 replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
You'd be surprised how well you can see everything, actually. I went to the Big Chill last year and sat in row 46 (mid-bowl) in the corner of the stadium. Had no problem following the action at all. I was kind of expecting to not be able to see much, but it wasn't bad at all. I would imagine that it would be a little difficult closer to the top of the stadium, but the HD scoreboards there a HUGE now (wasn't the case for the Big Chill, but I didn't hear many complaints regardless regarding views). Comerica would be lame. I would watch another game in the Big House in a heartbeat. Comerica, I have no desire. Especially with the amount of Leafs fans that would undoubtedly make the trip down. -
ESPN insider article re: Wing's deadline cap space
Trapt1307 replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
Disagree, only because I think they would have used a lot of the cap space to sign someone to a one year contract in the offseason if that were the case. I would be surprised if they're not major players at the deadline. -
Because my opinion's different than yours? A hockey stick that forms a J with a clip-art airplane...how original.
-
Disagree. Their old logo sucked. This one's OK, would be better if there was something in the blue circle. I love the script though.
-
Sweet. Hopefully he plays as well as he did before.

NHL Comparisons for The Mighty Ducks characters
Trapt1307 replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
First person I thought of was Marc Crawford -
Really? Wow, I'm surprised that he waived it to go to Minny. They're not exactly a contender.
-
Wow, what a shocker. Very even trade though IMO. How long before Heatley demands a trade?

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract
Trapt1307 replied to germanwing's topic in General
Love the signing. If it wasn't for that lousy Ericsson deal, I would love this offseason so far. I think they got great value for both him and Commodore. -
How does Vokoun get 1.5 and Bryzgalov gets over 5? I would rather have Vokoun to begin with. Philly got played.

In my friggin dreams...

What are the odds that one of those first round picks turns out to be anywhere close to the player Doughty is? We're talking about a 21 year old whose already one of the best in the game. He would be the face of the defense for the next 15 years. I would do it in a heartbeat. Won't happen though.

There's no way they're using the same logo as before. That's way outdated.

I always liked Nashville...

Guess I'm in the minority. Love those jerseys, waaay batter than the nightmare they've been wearing since the edge jerseys have been used. My favorite part might be the numbers, love the guitar strings.
-
The primary would be better without the yellow streak. The other two are sweet though.

Boy is Jimmy Howard looking nice right about now. 7mil? Wow.

I'm against signing Jagr, but for 1.5, that's a steal IMO.

Latest Rumor: NHL Team Expected to Announce Rebranding in 2012
Trapt1307 replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
My first thought was Florida as well. The posters on that board had a pretty interesting conversation about it being Columbus being re-branded as Ohio and playing a number of games in cities like Cincinnati and Cleveland, although I'm not sure they qualify as "southern based." Too bad this is so far away, because it's pretty intriguing. -
Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons
Trapt1307 replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Sad to see Raffi go, but this offseason definitely just got exciting. -
Yeah it would. They're playing in the southeast. That means they have to travel to the southeast 12 times a year. Then they would have to fly to the east coast 20 other times for conference games. At least the Wings and Canucks are in divisions that are relatively close to them geographically. It's a lot different flying from Detroit to Chicago than it is flying from Winnipeg to Tampa. Really? I thought the issue was an old arena, but I was too young at the time. It would be surprising to me if it was an attendance issue knowing how crazy Canadians are about hockey.
-
I have a weird feeling that the Wings already know that they're going to the East the year after next. In that article that was floating around a few days ago, Devellano said that they won't be moving to the East next year, but and after that they're "saying prayers" or something like that (sounded like he was joking). To me, this means that they've been told that they're going to the East for 2012-13, but he didn't want to let the cat out of the bag yet. Now we're hearing that Winnipeg will stay in the East for a season, so that kind of confirms my suspicion. Honestly, I think the smarter move for the league is to move Nashville, but I've wanted the Wings in the East since forever. It's better for the league for the Wings to be in the West, but it's better for the Wings to be in the East.
-
For one season, maybe. It would be completely foolish for a team in Western Canada to play in the same division as a team in Miami long term. If they keep them in the East for a season, their travel is gonna be brutal. I feel bad for the players. Not only will they have to deal with the travel for a year (if the rumor is true), they'll go from an Atlanta winter to a Winnipeg winter. Yikes.

I kind of agree with him...on that quote at least. Not all, but most of the fans that have no ties to Michigan are bandwagon fans. It's hard to argue that. Just like the whole "Red Sox Nation" garbage, where probably 30% have no ties to Boston, and only became Red Sox fans when it was "cool."
