Babs on last night's D: "...best we've had all year."
MacAttack25 replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
Don't know if it's been mentioned already, but this dawned on me last night: Kronwall Ericsson Smith Quincey Kindl Lashoff All Red Wings draft picks except for Lashoff, who we signed as an 18 year old. An all home grown backend! -
My memory might be fuzzy, but I don't think Quincey had anything to do with Ericsson. I think Quincey was waived to keep Chelios and Meech. Quincey was waived at the beginning of the 2008-2009 season, Big E started in Grand Rapids that year if I'm not mistaken.

Riley Sheahan drunk and in a Teletubby costume would be more serviceable than Cleary at this point.

Oof. Really bad game for the Wings. Hopefully they can put it behind them and turn things around quick. Some good teams are 0-1 after today, so there's no need to panic, but you don't want to start slow with this shortened season.

I think Bertuzzi fits best in the bottom 6, maybe getting some powerplay time and some top 6 time on occasion. Plus his usual shootout spot. I think a bottom 6 along the lines of: Bertuzzi - Abdelkader - Prust Miller (Cleary) - Helm - Eaves Would be really strong. I love Bertuzzi, but we have too many streaky players in the top 6 right now. I think he can still provide some good secondary scoring though. I also think with less minutes he'll stay healthier and be able to play more physical down the stretch like we've seen him do before.

I'd like to see something like: Zach Parise / Pavel Datsyuk / Johan Franzen Gustav Nyquist / Henrik Zetterberg / Valtteri Filppula Drew Miller / Darren Helm / Patrick Eaves Brandon Prust / Justin Abdelkader / Todd Bertuzzi Danny Cleary (Rotating with Miller) Ryan Suter / Niklas Kronwall Kyle Quincey / Ian White Brendan Smith / Jonathan Ericsson Jakub Kindl Jimmy Howard Joey MacDonald -----

When is the last time we scored with the goalie pulled? Calgary last season?

Lots of debate over this one. Especially between Roenick and Milbury. Keep in mind, this idiot Milbury defended Kostopoulos' hit on Stuart, saying he "loved it". What do you guys think on this one? Letang is apparently out day to day, and considering he was concussed already this season, that could be bad news.

While I wanted to see some improvement in our bottom six, other than the Pahlsson deal, the prices really did seem to be too high. I hope we'll give some of the younger guys like Tatar a chance to play, because our 4th line is dreadful as it is right now. The hype around some of these lower level players this year was unreal. It always surprises me how these players get overrated by fans and GMs alike. I'm having flashbacks to Brendan Witt. I don't think anyone made any big improvements. I'm not too impressed with the moves by San Jose or Chicago. Nashville made some good moves, but I don't think they were anything that put them over the top. I'm scratching my head a bit when it comes to the Hodgson deal by Vancouver. I don't know anything about the guy they got in return.

Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)
MacAttack25 replied to Tim.D's topic in General
I like the move as far as bringing him back goes, but I'm a bit on the fence about sending a first rounder the other way. I thought for sure our first rounder would go towards bringing a forward in. I just hope we don't have to trade Tatar, Nyquist, or Smith if we make another move. Either way, looking forward to seeing Quincey in the line up. Definitely an improvement on our blue line -
Franzen coming back from being injured Stuart was the one with the most payoff, obviously. Schneider was a great deal though as well, I loved watching him here. The Lang, Calder, and Bertuzzi deals were really exciting, to me at least. I'd consider the Calder deal better if it had gotten rid of Williams forever, but Holland had to go and bring him back. Jiri Slegr was quite the lucky guy, going from the awful Thrashers to playing one playoff game and winning the Stanley Cup. I just remember when we were approaching that deadline there was lots of talk about Kasparaitis, only to have him go to the Avalanche. That was a huge bummer to me at the time.

Can we please get Mursak in for Emmerton?
-
Pretty interesting. I think we definitely would have made it out of the second round and had a better chance in the third round.
-
His assist on the Rangers' third goal was awesome
-
Same reason the Sharks traded Setoguchi one day after signing him to a 3 year deal. To improve the team. The real question is, why would anyone trade for Ericsson?
-
Bert is looking a lot better these past few games than he did before his injury. Nice move in the shootout and a nice assist on Pav's goal. He's had some good chances lately, just a matter of time before a few go in for him
-
I've never seen Ericsson play with any balls anyway. He'll be fine.
-
Does this mean they'll show the Wings game on Versus and CBC on Wednesday?
-
Hahaha, I hate him so much. That was a nice goal.
-
But, but, but... :siren: ..he was goin score 35 gols.. :siren: But really, I wish he could have played more. I don't think it would have hurt to throw him in one of these last few games. Hopefully he has a good showing in Grand Rapids

Honest question, when is the last time we scored with the goalie pulled? Against Calgary last season?
-
Tribute to the Wings lost in the accident. SL • RS • BM. Maybe not in that order.
-
This is awful, in my opinion. Give him a 4 minute penalty, 2 games for this is way overboard. I don't think it was reckless by Bouchard, I think they were just jostling and chopping at each other and Calvert's stick lift made Bouchard hit him up high unintentionally. How many games would this have gotten?
-
Hey, you're right... he's getting paid $3,250,000 and he has the same +/- as Kindl, who only makes $883,333?! Overpaid. (Only kidding) With the effort by Emmerton and Miller, do we still see Brunnstrom and Eaves against the Avs?

Howard has had a bit of a rough preseason and Conklin has looked pretty solid from what I've seen, but I'd still go with Howard. I think he'll be okay, he knows he needs to step it up. Conklin is a really good fit here though. I hope we don't have to see him step in as the starter, but if he has to, I think he can hold his own. But for now, despite the preseason record, it's Howard's job. Loved seeing Bert go to the net and get one in, but Nyquist's goal was very nice. He's a really impressive player, especially for his age. I'm excited to see him in the future.
