The announcer definitely takes the cake. The fight was good, but certainly not #1. Poor guy had the biggest spaz ever! Oh, and Hextall is absolutely hilarious. In a good way.
-
Yeah, I believe they were out of a playoff spot for a bit. Until about when Avery returned, naturally

If I had a dollar for every time the Sharks scrounged a point out of a game... I'd be one rich lady. Thank God the Sharks' one-point games will all equate to one big, fat LOSS in the playoffs! No Cup for simply stretching it to the extra periods! (Sidenote: maybe the Sharks have the least 1-point games of all-time, but it just seems like lately they always manage it)

Praise and thanks goes to the Hawks tonight. Please, please keep it up for the rest of the game!

FACT: We are better at D, with the pairings last night
whitneydatsyukrox replied to stevkrause's topic in General
Yup. Pairings just work when Chelios is in. He's still so effective at just doing his job, even at his age. He's great on the PK (although I don't believe he played on it last night), and as everyone said, just makes good decisions. I would absolutely put him in over Lebda any day, any time. Ericsson-Lilja or, if Lilja's still out, Ericsson-Chelios should work fine in playoffs. -
How are the Wings looking? The feed is a lagging trainwreck over here. From the bits I catch, it isn't the most beautiful period the Wings have ever played.

Anaheim - Perry... in his Knights days. Otherwise no one. Atlanta - KOVALCHUK! Boston - Lucic Buffalo - Miller Calgary - No one. Carolina - Look at my name Whitney, a million and one times over. Chicago - Kane/Bolland... Knights represent. Colorado - Sakic Columbus - Nash... he was a Knight so obv! Dallas - Richards Detroit - Datsyuk Edmonton - Souray Florida - No one Los Angelas - Doughty Minnesota - Gaborik Montreal - Kovalev Nashville - Weber New Jersey - Shanny NY Islanders - Dipietro/Okposo = Love. NY Rangers - Avery/Lundqvist/Gomez/Girardi Ottawa - No one Philadelphia - Richards Phoenix - Doan Pittsburgh - No one San Jose - Cheechoo St. Louis - Legace Tampa Bay - St. Louis Toronto - Blake Vancouver - No one Washington - Ovechkin

Darn I have to miss this game! Well I'm gonna say 5-1 Wings! The Thrashers GAA is about second worst in the league, shouldn't be too hard if the Wings show up! Aaaand Hossa lights it up against his former team
-
Oh my goodness! Loving these videos! So many great memories from the Russian 5, and even our former scapegoats (some deserved), like Lang, Whitney, and Schneider. I LOVE this team!
-
Love it!! Hahahahahaha that like sums up our beloved Wings to a tee. Never know what you're gonna get but fingers crossed they'll bring it as always come playoffs!
-
Always. While I've watched the Wings forever, this is the first game as a kid I actually really remember that made me love the Wings more than anything! NOTHING is sweeter than seeing Patty Wah hang his head in shame.
-
LOVE that howl!!!! 3-0 Coyotes!!!! Priiiiiceless Assuming this thread's converted to the Sharks/Yotes GDT lol.
-
Absolutely wonderful. What a good night (so far)! Good job, Wings! Gotta love how they can just turn up the level of their play whenever they please.
-
Hey guys! I've missed everything so far. Just curious, can anyone fill me on how the... err.. 4th line's been looking? Hopefully not too brutal!
-
Ohhh, playoffs So soon! Most likely in the 2nd round (please make it that far, Wings), I'll be there! Exams and other things complicate it but oh well. I'll likely take the Greyhound from London to Detroit. And it will be 100% worth having to take the 3am bus back to London if it means I see the Wings! However, if we play an exciting team in the 1st round... may have to make that work, too.

TSN Rankings are always one of the greatest mysteries of life for me. Last year they were much kinder to the Wings, so the Wings kind of dug their own grave for those this year. But still, there are teams 'ahead' of them that are doing so much worse at the moment. What can ya do! The standings can do the rest of the talking.
-
In my dreams, it would be the Rangers pulling a massive upset. With Avery leading the way. Realistically, the Sharks. Not much would be sweeter than seeing Cheechoo raise the Cup, and he is the only reason I like the Sharks.

3/12 GDT: Flames 6 at Red Wings 5 (SO)
whitneydatsyukrox replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I tragically have to miss the game due to a night exam. Geeze, universities should know better! Anyway I'm thinking we'll win it 4-2 with goals from Stuart, Lids, Flip, and Sammy. Conklin is again awesome and fends off 30+ shots. Well, I hope our D is tighter than that but the Flames are really, really good. -
I agree. While Osgood is better on the road than at home, when you compare the two, Conklin is still best at home, overall, and on the road by a respectable amount (save % and GAA). However unless Ozzie completely blows the rest of the regular season, he'll likely be our playoff starter. Babcock will have to keep him fresh. As much as Conklin has earned the rest of the starts... Ozzie will likely be in come playoffs.

3/10 GDT: Coyotes 2 at Red Wings 3 (OT)
whitneydatsyukrox replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Mediocre game, but nice to get the 2 points! And is Franzen clutch in OT or what? Not to get ahead of ourselves worrying about the East, but Boston lost and SJ may come out with 1 point! Hooray! -
Chelios paired with Ericcson, Ledba healthy scratch

"Watch out, here we come!" Priceless!! -
They truly are that bad. But I think they're going to put together a decent season next year! With DiPietro hopefully regaining his health, he (IMO) is one of the best goalies in the game today. They have Danis who's turning into a fantastic goalie as of late, Okposo is only 20 and already a big offensive threat, and many other promising young guys. With Tavares potentially joining them, I think it would be a much better situation than Stamkos going to Tampa. NYI actually has some promise. Or maybe that's my false hope... but I love that team. Wouldn't mind a move for the Isles but they really shouldn't suck so badly the next few years (fingers crossed!).

Hello, me too Bringing a laptop, headphones, and you're set! As rude as it seems to the prof, as Wings fans it must be done! -

I was thinking Hossa would need to score telepathically for us to win a game after the recent slaughter. But with Homer back, we could just do it! Let's say 4-2 Wings. Goals from Homer (the much-missed tip!), Dats, Kronwall, and Maltby. Conks with his typical solid game, under 3 goals please. -
3/7 GDT: Blue Jackets 8 at Red Wings 2
whitneydatsyukrox replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I know eh. I still have faith in Ozzie that he could maybe prove himself if he gets a chance in the playoffs but honestly.... yeah. With Mason we'd be killing it. Even when his team isn't doing much to help him out, he keeps them in the game and is more than just 'solid when called upon.' It was an absolute pleasure to watch him back in his OHL days. He's simply incredible for his age (or any age!) and I pray we don't face him in the playoffs..
