It's really too bad that my final uni. psychology project that I haven't started yet is due tomorrow. But Hossa is far more entertaining He just makes things happen!
-
So true! And the great thing about players like Dats, Zetterberg, and Hossa, is that even if their offensive production declines a lot in their older age, they still have so much to offer the team (apart from being a "good presence in the locker room" like most vets). Their defensive abilities will almost definitely remain.

Hossa is on pace for a career high in goals
whitneydatsyukrox replied to Z and D for the C's topic in General
Hossa WANTS 50 goals, and he could totally do it. But most importantly, he just wants his team to win I still can't get over the fact that he's actually a Wing. And how much worse our record would be this season without his timely goals and everything else he adds to the team. HOSSA FTW!!! -
That would be great for Edmonton if they could get Jagr somehow! Certainly wouldn't make them Cup contenders, but at least make them better than 9th in the conference. Until the Rangers were near elimination this past season, he was the top playoff scorer if my memory serves me correctly. Still an absolute beast when called upon!

QFT. I'm a Flip fan for sure, and he is looking better now than at the beginning of the season, but this is true. It's arguable, but Hossa creates a lot of his own goals out of nothing. Props to whoever carried the puck over the line or passed it to him 15 seconds prior, but with Hossa's strength and quick release, he could have Boyd Devereux on a line with him and do just fine for the most part.

SO funny. Datsyuk has the greatest sense of humour, even if he wasn't really going for that in this video.
-
Oh, Datsyuk. You make it look so easy!

It's tough, but I'd keep Hossa. Yes, he'll cost more. But I don't think it'll be that much drastically more than Franzen will ask for, and Hossa's upside is much greater in my opinion. Franzen's the same age as Hossa, and Hossa has shown the league what he can do consistently for years. If we could keep Franzen instead of Hossa though, it would still be a happy moment for the Wings. Both players are scarily good goal scorers, and excellent players overall. I understand that yes, we did win the Cup with our current team minus Hossa (and Conklin), basically. But the way the team is consistently playing this year, is NOT the machine of last year that rolled fairly easily through opponents in the playoffs, and all season. It's tough to imagine where we'd be this season without Hossa- maybe not quite near the top of the Western Conference anymore. Think of all the goals Hossa has scored (or set up or played a crucial part of) that were maybe not necessarily game-winners, but picked up the team when nothing was going for anyone else. He has been vital to ANY of this team's success this year. We most definitely needed that new, hungry presence. So I don't think it's as easy as saying, "we won the Cup without him, we can do it again." Maybe we could sweep every opponent in the playoffs this year, maybe not, but as far as getting to that point, we truly, truly need Hossa.

Need to get Hudler/Franzen signed long term.
whitneydatsyukrox replied to wingslionstigers's topic in General
I can totally see your point, Hudler is definitely improving every game and is very important to the team. But I feel it should be noted that both Hossa and Franzen were born in 1979, being essentially the same age. While it's true Franzen only came into his own the last year or so, both of their careers are going to last about the same length. There's no obvious advantage of signing Franzen over Hossa LT (apart from the potential $). -
And with the last 2 Lidstrom goals, Datsyuk is on pace for an 100 point season (99.8 technically but ya know!)
-
I'm going for 4-1 Wings. Goals from Hossa x 2, Datsyuk, and Lidstrom. And Conklin shows us all why he's #1. Or at least #1.a
-
Pleeeeease no goal!!!
-
Yeah meaning mostly Lidstrom, and I thought Hossa got an assist But even the top guys have created soo many chances, awesome to see everyone giving their all for once! (Minus on that just-scored Nucks goal, but we can forgive them for at least that)
-
Effing yes!!! THESE are the Wings we know and love! Secondary scoring, plus our big guys producing as well!
-
Hooray!!! GREAT shot Lidstrom. Safe to say the defensively near-perfect, point-producing defenseman we love is back!
-
WOW Meech!!! Nice to see his speed convert to a goal!!!
-
Wow, Draper, Hossa, and Meech clicked shockingly well on that shift! GREAT work by Hossa, looked like he drew a penalty but what can ya do, good to see the effort anyway.
-
Now these are the type of games I remember from last year! Low scoring, I'll take it if it means the defense has tightened up.
-
Draper FTEmptynet!
-
Draper is just a machine on face-offs tonight (and in general). It's like, puck drops, it gets shot straight back to the Wings.
-
Priceless.
-
I love how Lidstrom is so calm is defensive situations most would screw up. To be expected, of course, but I'm still blown away by his brilliance!
-
WTF? That Habs player shoved down a Wing just before Hossa shoved him down, as far as I saw.
-
Awesome game by the Wings so far. Conklin is so solid when called upon, Lebda isn't looking too bad, Datsyuk and Zetterberg are creating good chances as always and our D isn't collapsing! By the way - I'm Caitlin! I was a huge poster like 4 years ago when I was 13 (hence the embarrassing username) and I've recently rediscovered the wonder of LGW.

WCF Game 6 (5/22) GDT: Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET
whitneydatsyukrox replied to aflac9262's topic in General
I feel terribly for Hasek! He does everything in his power to let the Wings win but if the Wings can't score a single goal, it can't happen. Come on Wings, give Hasek another chance at the Cup!
