being reviewed for a high stick, but it counts

woohoo, my roommate's staying at her boyfriend's for the night. i get the tv all to myself!

haha, i totally understand where turco's coming from. my contacts are driving me nuts right now.
-
me too! you wouldn't happen to be in my ENV 101 class?
-
does anyone else think that vancouver's making turco look really good, probably better than he actually is? it kinda reminds me of the wings of post seasons past
-
woohoo, a win on the last week and a top ten finish (sorta)! thanks again for all your work, aussie. it was fun
-
i'm not surprised hasek is nominated. one player from every team gets nominated. for the wings, it was pretty much either hasek or chelios.

it will always be my dream to see a detroit/toronto final. go leafs go!
-
close, but i think it roughly translates to "no one's making you stay, go home". et, maintenant, il est les temps pour le "pong" de bière! salut!
-
i wholeheartedly agree. as far as the ice girls go, eh, i don't really care either way. i don't get much opportunity to see an nhl game live and i certainly wouldn't let something so trivial ruin it for me. oh, btw, i'm female.

first, you're thinking of tech. northern has women. second, lssu didn't make it to the finals, notre dame and michigan did. lssu made it to the joe, congrats, if you check the ccha thread in the water cooler, you'll see that i was rooting for some u.p. representation. besides, who made it to the joe last year, and the year before that, and the year before that? finally, it's all in good fun, lighten up.

Why the Red Wings need the Presidents Trophy

nashville's fans remind me of a giant college student section. i can't really blame them for acting like they do, i do the same exact things at northern games all the time. for instance, when the announcer says "there's one minute left in the period," nearly the whole rink shouts back "and tech still sucks!" when "the wildcats are at full strength" we all shout "they always were!" then of course, there's dozens of "sieves" for whichever goalie is in net and "---- sucks!" randomly, just for posterity's sake. it's fun, especially when the whole section or rink is into it. it doesn't matter who's ahead, or who we're playing, it's the same stuff week after week (with some specialty chants like "oh how i hate ohio state," "tech: where the men are men, and the women are too!" and "lake state women are fishy!"), and we all love it. so, while i don't think i would ever act the same way in at an nhl game, i can understand why nashville fans do what they do.

i wasn't able to watch, but i was following it on game tracker. nuts. anyway, just for your info, alabama didn't make the frozen four (nor did notre dame). that little moniker is reserved for the last four teams in the ncaa d1 tourney. this year, it's maine, michigan state, boston college and north dakota. alabama made the tourney because the team that wins its division gets an automatic bid. the cha is considered the weakest division, behind the wcha, hockey east, ccha, ecachl, and atlantic hockey. it was still cool to see alabama take their division, though. typically bemidji or niagra win. good to see some fresh blood. if you're interested in college hockey, i suggest uscho.com for the best info. be careful on the forum, though, most posters don't take kindly to newbies.

i always notice that ponikarovsky goes down the arms of his jersey. one of my favorites isn't in the nhl, though. he plays for michigan tech: eli vlaisavljevich.

yeah, it was an ugly game i'm sad they lost, but i'm not at all surprised. our team wasn't very strong this year, and honestly, i'm just happy they got past ohio state. santos had a pretty breakaway goal, though personally, there's really nothing left at northern for santorelli, he's going to have even less help next year, which probably doesn't won't help his rookie offer. i don't really want him to stay, cuz it'll probably be a dumb move for him, and i don't want him regretting it half way through next year's season. i don't think he'll be in the nhl right away, but he definitely has the potential to get there. he's drafted to nashville, and they just have too much depth. he's also got some maturing to do, he's often too pretty or puckhog-ish (understandable sometimes). i wish him the best in milwaukee, though. congrats to the lakers, good luck against notre dame. also, there's something called the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. it honors seniors for loyalty and commitment to their respective schools, and their dedication towards graduating, while competing in a D1 sport. 10 senior finalists were selected for hockey from all 58 teams, and the final list is: Matt Anderson (Massachusetts), David Brown (Notre Dame), Billy Devoney (Air Force), Glenn Fisher (Denver), Curtis Fraser (Alaska - Fairbanks), Jeff Jakaitis (Lake Superior State), Michel Leveille (Maine), Kirk MacDonald (Rensselaer), Ryan Mahrle (Western Michigan), and Nate Randuns (St. Cloud State). there are 4 ccha players: brown, fraser, jakaitis and mahrle. for anyone who would like to vote, go to www.seniorclassaward.com, click on on vote, then hockey, then you can vote for up to three players per day. voting ends march 29th. i kindly ask that one of your votes be for curtis fraser. he's been my favorite college player since i came to northern, even over all of my beloved wildcats. he's always played with intensity, and a bit of an edge, and is known as the emotional leader of the nanooks. i met him this year, when the nanooks played the wildcats, and he's a great guy. he even came up to me after the saturday game (i met him on friday night) and asked if i enjoyed the game, thanked me for my support (even if i was rooting for the wrong team ) and said he hoped to see me in detroit. all in all, he's spiffy.

ok, first off, my stats in the above post were wrong (but the other site's back up, yay!) brown led (regular season) in wins, gaa, minutes played and shutouts. jakaitis led in save percentage, and faced more shots. as some have mentioned: state beat uno 4-2 u/m beat northern 4-1 lssu beat miami 2-1 notre dame beat alaska 7-1 i'm hoping for a huge comeback from nmu and alaska (i can dream, right?), a sweep from lssu, and for the state/uno series to go to 3 games (in the odd chance that either the wildcats or nanooks make it to the joe, someone will be tired ) GO 'CATS! GO NANOOKS! i don't want to turn this into a brown vs. jakaitis debate because, frankly, i'm not sure who's better, but, how do you figure that this game makes jakaitis better than brown? both only let in one goal. it's true brown only faced 17 shots, but he's been better when facing more shots (like a lot of goalies), which lets him get into a groove (for games with 23 shots or more, he's 16-0-2, for 22 shots or less, he's 10-5-1). also, the score was 7-0 in favor of the irish when he let in that one goal, no doubt he was day dreaming for much of the game (it was an ugly game from a nanook perspective). again, i'm not saying one is better than the other, i'm just wondering what your logic is. obviously, miami is a tougher opponent than alaska, but it's not brown's fault that he had to play them.

not to downplay jakaitis, but it's not like brown is a bad choice. he led the ccha (if i remember properly, i can't get to my normal stats source) in save percentage, wins, and shutouts. he's also #2 on cstv's latest top ten hobey baker watch list. jakaitis isn't even on their list, which i find a bit surprising, but they've got a lot of ccha-ers on there, which might've discouraged another. i realize that jakaitis plays on a worse team, and is probably more important to his team because of that. i'm also aware that he's played more minutes and has a better gaa (i might have save % and gaa reversed here, not sure). frankly, i haven't seen enough of both goalies inorder to say who's better. all i know is that the other coaches in the ccha pick the team, and they have seen both play. in any case, i'm glad to see santos on there. as far as this weekend goes, the 'cats will definitely have to contain hensick's line, play hard-nosed, physical hockey and get scoring from a mix of players. if they do that, they'll at least push this series to three games. northern's been one of the most successful visiting teams at yost in the nation, so, i'm hoping for another upset. GO CATS! *edit* wow, the yellow's hard to see, there....
