Canadian refs doing a game against an American team is pretty much certain as to the calls. Always hated the trips to West Canada ... not much of a chance, but the Wings pulled their first sweep in how many years?

Swapped out some tickets from a season ticket holder for the Ducks wow close to 10 years ago and everyone around me was giving me crap (they were all obviously season ticket holders because the seats were awesome) .... probably just depressed Duck fans (Mighty Ducks back then) but of course they sucked then and the Wings went on to win the cup that year. Obviously, they didn't have a didn't have anything meaningful to say though.

Poor Vesa. Trapped with the Leafs and this happens. Got a kick out the commentator saying "Congratulations. This will be on all of the highlight reels for the the next month"

That was loudest crowd this year. Great game. Dats was on fire and Franzen is tearing it up too ... Just wondering if Hank is in a slump now. Helm had a good game and his speed shows, but I don't think he got any ice time until near the end of the 1st, if at all in the 1st??

Just watched it too. WHAT CRAP. Pronger was staring him down to make sure he stomped on him. Wonder if Kenny or Mick will mention anything about this during the game tonight. Come on Mickey, stir things up.

If I have upper bowl seats that aren't all that great I will scout the lower bowl for empty seats during the 1st period and move down to them during the 1st intermission. Has worked for me every time and I have never been asked to leave. Best seats I ever got tickets for were for the 1st round playoffs last year against Calgary which were 2nd row from the top of the lower bowl right on the redline (the TV camera was right behind us).

Well said. To end this thread, the Wings did not give up a lot to add a good and experienced D to bolster the depth. That trade was the best that the Wings could do. Everyone knows that the price goes up when Holland calls. Do not be disappointed as all of the forwards available went for too high of a price. The Wings learned from last year that depth on D is invaluable.

I wanted Prospal here when he was a FA. Oh well, I know we won't sell the farm for Hossa (but throwing in conditional picks for him to come here if he signs is always an option even if costs us Flips). Guess we are gonna be looking for low key trades for depth players. Another boring trade deadline for the Wings.

Something tells me that the Leafs had a deal wrapped up with a team that Sundin just would not play for ( cough, cough Ducks?). Yeah, if I was a fan of the Leafs I might have been a little ticked off if it could help their future, but I think Sundin is being true to his team and himself. Respect him for that.

Hossa is the most legible player to bring in. Holland can spend the same assets on a rent-a-player or spend the same on a player that will stay with the team. Not a really hard choice.

Even with the loss (knew the refs would kick quick as they did(), I think our young boys on D did a good job. I think Holland will make a big trade and Hudler will be part of the package. It was awesome to see Erriccson play, as I think he is untouchabe. I would rather see Hossa than Sundin for the cost it going to bring, but a package deal with a good forward and depth Dman is the best way the Wings need to go.

For all of the years I have been watching the Wings, that was hardest hit I have seen Nick take. I remember the hit he took against Brown in LA last year, and that does not even compare. The team has been desperate to score, and Nick obviously went out of position and that is what happens. Desperation brings that out.

Great game to end the slump. Hope we get to play the Avs in the playoffs as it will reignite the rivalry for sure. Good job for our young boys on D. They really stepped up with Lidstrom being out.

Well a big sigh of relief, if the reports are correct. I guess we all know that Lidstrom getting hurt is the Wings worst nightmare. Guess we should consider ourselves lucky that our best player has never been plagued with injury problems.

That sucks. Fedorov for 3rd or 4th picks as he too injury prone. Not sure anyone can replace Cleary.

Yeah, I think it would have been too weird to have ForeSkin on this team. And yes, he obviously had the same feelings. For those of you that didn't experience that intense rivalry, too bad as it was awesome. It would be nice to grab a player that would not take some assets off the table, but that is the way it goes.

That was the worst skills competition ever. I was very disappointed as I have always thought it to be the best part of the break. VS screws things up once again. Let's just pull some stupid hick off the street from TN to do the judging next year.
