Hey captain obvious... Did I claim the Wings lost because of the refs? No. I'm suggesting that it's very suspicious and points to the Pens gettin' a freebie. Wake up. It's not everyday the refs get caught in the act.
-
Well, it's rather interesting that the ref skated up to the Pens defensemen --within a few feet--from behind and the guy went directly to bench without looking around to make the determination that they had too many on the ice for himself. It looks very suspicious. Just a coincidence? Or is this the evidence that one can point to to claim that the fix is in? And, do you really think the Wings players would make something like this up?

Nope, no updates on Datsyuk, his foot is still broken. I hope Hossa can channel all the hostility into his classic drives to the net! Another big game from Oz is a prereq. for a win. Can Hank ****** another goal from Crosby? Crosby will lose his mind! 3-2 Wings

Throw in a few swoons and sighs and you've nailed it!

As long as Bettman is at the helm the NHL is a parody of pro sport.

After seeing the video of Pav taking that shot off of the inside of his foot, I don't know what to think. He could be back next game or he could be out of the playoffs. I've taken slappers off the boot and it seems like it's either something you shake off that game or it's a deep bruise or a fracture. Obviously it's the latter...
-
Obviously not. Multiple threads + multiple beers = wtf?

No a game misconduct would been sufficient in the 1st round too... Besides, you're just scared Malkin will come down the ice dipsy doodling around somebody and Kronwall or Stuart will f#$@ing bury him!

Yes well my friends and I used to call each other and other people "dicksmack" when we were growing up when we meant to call someone a goof or whatever--as you've demonstrated, it gets laughs even now... ps You want to be the smacker, not the smackee...

Yay Spits! They were the first team to lose the first two games and come back and beat everybody! I'm hoping (and confident) that there will be two coveted hockey trophies in the area this summer!
-
Even if you didn't like the call, I think the ref was trying to let the Hawks know that any more retaliation for the Kronwall hit will be called before things get out of hand. Any respect I had for Q (hometown guy) is out the window.

Maybe Pav will be back if we advance. My intuition tells me it's a mid-range injury in terms of seriousness. He came back to play after it happened so it's likely that it's either a bad bruise or hairline fracture. Actually I saw Pav take the shot off the foot and he didn't react all that much to it. What I do recall is him getting hit into the boards and the commentators said he looked injured coming to the bench.

One of the worst calls I've ever seen. The puck touched Havlat's stick and it deflected into his feet. That's not interference. It's not a charge because he curled into him and his feet stayed on the ice. Contact was made by the shoulder. What a joke Danny Boy...

Ya gotta like this...first interesting post. But I'm sorry, the fans that complained in that case were homers anyway...
-
I recall 3 or 4 times where I was certain a penalty would be called against us and there was no call. We did get away with a few... Over a series, they will even out so there. I'm sure the home team (statistically proven) will get some calls or non-calls when the puck drops in Chumptown.

The goalie interference Carolina got away with last night: diabolical

The OP looks dumb for complaining when those uncalled knee hits might change the series... -
Big goals from Sammy deep in the playoffs---:> seems clutch to me...

Franzen is the greatest playoff goal scorer in recent NHL history. If some of the other elite forwards played for the Wings, their one-way play wouldn't be tolerated.
-
I think around the time the Regular Season hardware nominations started rolling in, he hasn't been himself offensively. No other elite scorer would even get a sniff at a Selke award so he's pretty much the only one in his category. Perhaps he's got a defense-first mindset going on...in addition to being in a slump offensively. It doesn't help that his linemate is slumping too. When Hossa struggles, he's strictly a perimeter player. Pav doesn't seem to be hanging on to puck right up to the net like he does when he's confident. Since the team is unstoppable when all cylingers are firing, it behooves Babcock to hook Pav up with somebody like Franzen if only to jump start him and then re-assemble the lines he likes. If Babcock weren't coaching, I'd say it also behooves Pav to maybe cheat a little and go for the offense! Nobody backchecks better than Datsyuk but chill out Mr. Responsible and go for it until you're rolling again! If he doesn't get going offensively, Babcock could just hand over most of the defensive responsbility to Pav, he's better at it anyway. Datsyuk gets paid the big bucks to help his team win, and that's what he's been doing.

Having a rusty, barnacled, brain-injured Lilja in the line-up is a f***in' scary thought.

Eat it Sammy haters.

The whipping boy does it again! Big goals deep in the playoffs...

I think the Leino support comes from watching him play. He plays a style well suited to the playoffs. You can see it already... He wins puck battles and drives to the net and he has a scoring touch once he gets there. But we might not see him unless we have injuries. It's good to know he's there if we need him. Wings have success because they have a balanced team. The Wings and Hawks are offensive machines... I think the difference will be the Wings team defense and playing with an edge--using Abdelkader makes sense: he's got speed and likes to hit.

Wings in Five. The Wings can play any kind of game and succeed. Our depth is the best in the NHL. Wings have very balanced scoring: good luck defending us. This deep in the playoffs, the experience of the Wings will dominate. Khabibulin will face a constant barrage every game.
