Yes. All criticism is a hate fest and unfair.
-
Nope, I didn't watch any of it this year. It doesn't sound like I missed anything...

Relax man, you have a right to be your wishywashy self all you want. McGuire is my idiot of the month for his lapse into blatant fandom during the winter classic telecast... big deal... and i'm giving him the gears for it so what?
-
Do you take everything literally? This is a fan site, not a court of law...cuz, I know you don't like to take a stand. Get it? Stand?....aw forget it....
-
The whole idea is ludicrous. Retreating defenders would be pushed backwards as well, thus nullifying the "advantage." I bet Zetterberg was mocking him. It was a great goal! Pierre gave him no credit for the play. Did the wind make the goalies eyes water too when Pav deked him?
-
Are you an idiot too? It would have pushed the defence back as well... He wouldn't have said anything like that if it was Toews, not in a million years.

The NHL assertively used their big body presence! Ya Doc, we all know they blew off the allstar game... big deal! I love it! When I (used to) watch the highlights on the NHL network (so-called) I would hope to see a great replay of a Datsyukian deke only to see the only goal shown is one off of Homer's butt and the usual short shrift.

I must strenuously object to the offensive nature of the topic title... it contains the phrase "Pierre thinks..."

For all the Hank vs Pav talk, for me it goes like this: You don't put a top 5 scorer in the NHL as primarily a shut down centre unless you're dumb. Hank is turned to on the 5 on 3. That's all he has defensively over Pav. <--- period! Hank on the backcheck/forecheck harasses his target all around the ice. Datysuk stalks, tracks down and neutralizes the target by taking puck off of the player's stick, often times going on the counterattack in a heartbeat. Basically Datsyuk is way more effective at it and he's the best in the world in this area. On the rare occasion Pav makes a defensive mistake, the little bugger usually steals it back anyway!

lol... Feds had to have his ass kicked, sandblasted and polished by Bowman in order to extract the most while Pavel operates heuristically. It's interesting and cool that there's even a conversation about this now. To me, the nod goes to Feds for skating and slap shot but Pav wins the stickhandling, playmaking and work ethic/attitude. All in all, though, I'd take Fedorov with the absolute package of size, skill, strength and speed. In the new rules, he'd be winning all the trophies in the case!

Good stuff Pav, snub the lame-ass ASG!

I was thinking last night that it was smart to start Osgood. We got to see what Ozzie can do vs the Sharks and we can always go to Conklin who has the psychological edge of the 6-0 shutout against them. Most hockey analysts say the Wings' achilles heel is in net and I agree. If the Wings put in an A- game against a top opponent they won't have the luxury of Ozzie outright stealing them a win. Conklin's still a question mark though.
-
It's not to say it's all Ozzie's fault but in a 6-5 loss the difference boiled down to a few plays. It was a playoff type of margin of error last night. Nabby was just a bit better than Ozzie.
-
No. We lost because Nabokov stopped our breakaways and Ozzie couldn't stop theirs...
-
Hudler has the best pivot along the boards this side of Datsyuk.
-
Who gives a s*** about this thing anyway? Nobody stickhandles better than Datsyuk.
-
it's OK, Lilja landed on his head...
-
Wings sure have the Ducks defenders huffin and puffin on the bench.
-
Datsyuk!
-
Go Sammy! Nice dash there... that ended up in the ole TM. ..
-
It wasn't deserved.

I don't think Pavel ever really shied away from physical contact. He didn't initiate hits very often and wasn't very good at it. He always went into the corners and to the net. The odd time you'd see him smoke a guy who was trying to line him up.
-
I was always behind Datsyuk. When he struggled in the playoffs, you could see he was creating a lot of chances and looked snake bitten around the net. I figured it would be a matter of time before he started producing. Early on, I noticed the puck stealing and him being solid on his skates for his size as well. Pav. is the reason I got back into watching hockey again in '03. Most entertaining player I've ever seen. When he got his big contract, I said it was worth it for this reason alone but you watch, he'll produce as well. And he has. As for saying "I'm Right!" haha, So what? A lot of people had the haughty attitude about him being a one-dimensional flashy and overpaid player who sucks in the playoffs. But if you watched closely, he didn't suck in the playoffs; he played well but couldn't seem to finish those plays off. And you knew a guy that talented would find a way...

If we can keep chucking rubber at Mason and get a cheapy, that'll open the floodgates...
