Good stuff boys...

Pav with 3 interceptions on that shift--that's more like it...
-
Pete Deboer is a great guy. I went to school with him in Windsor...
-
Surprising pull but effective so far. Besides Vokoun knows the Wings better.
-
Lilja's an idiot.
-
The Norris and Selke seem so far away. I don't think Wings will win either due to a bad first impression, even if they turn it around.
-
Sure Rafi looked bad there but he makes up for it on the score sheet but Lilja and Lebda need to go away.
-
With Osgood not playing well, you wonder if the competition with him and Dom was a motivator. But in general, yes I miss the dom.
-
Yep he choked at the start and the finish!

So is that like 10-1 for Dats?
-
Hudler has a high-point-per-minute-played ratio...
-
Whotta a pass by Hudler!
-
Franzen looks so confident.
-
Ya no kidding... they sure have a hard-on for the Pens...
-
Franzen and Hudler look great tonight...
-
Right on Pav! That wasn't even fair...
-
i Wince because Z was underpaid for so long and now the bell tolls for he...
-
That'd be the cup effect...
-
Sounds like the jealous Leafs fan he is...

Not as good a Fischer's hit but nice one. Van Ryn wasn't fazed by the hit but more so the glass to the face, whereas Sedin hit the ice like a dead mackerel after Fisch nailed him.

Very good point. So last year, it was Dats' absurd takeaway count and +/- (more than Lidstrom) that got him noticed... That's probably true, and I think that attention allowed a lot writers to have a chance to see the more subtle aspects of his defensive game: like the perfect line changes, the low risk situations he attacks in, the dangling his way to safety on defense, the counter-attacks that eat up pk time or draw penalties, the faceoff wins, and the uncanny way he wins puck battles, even while out-numbered. But ya know who is renowned for separating guys from the puck with the stick? Lidstrom. Takeaways, like positioning, are a core ability of hockey defense. I think he deserved the Selke.

So is Datsyuk! How many more setups would he need?

It hasn't taken long for our team's one-dimensionality to show. People scoffed at the idea prior to opening night though. We are a great team that has--unsurprisingly--started the season flat. We have champagne legs... But having said that, we really do need some bangers up front. Last year, our forecheck had Drake to keep the other team's guys heads up now and then. I wonder if his big hits rubbed off on the other wings and made them appreciate the value of playing the body? Now, we have guys like Hossa who turn away from chances to lay on the body-checks. The opposing D know they will go unmolested, so will make that outlet pass with ease. Of course in the playoffs, all of our guys will play the body but not right now. Wings would be remiss to not acquire some known bangers, at the deadline if necessary.

I'd give Ozzie the benefit of the doubt if he didn't get fooled twice by the same set play off the boards in your own friggin' rink. Well at least we got a point and again Datsyuk was his usual freak-show self. Anybody still doubt we need a Drake? None of the Nucks were the least bit scared to carry the puck out of their zone. Drake was a threat to staple them into the boards. We are not a balanced team. Holland will address this issue, trust me.

He play great at times but spoiled it by also being leaky.
