I knew Lilja would be exposed eventually--he the Wings defensive achilles heel like I said a couple of days ago... The call was a joke at the end --I called it 5 min. before..."watch the refs give them a pp at the end" and bingo!
-
Anytime, me Celtic brother...
-
Yay we have home ice for the final! WOOT!
-
The Ducks recently went 0-30 on the pp with Pronger, he gets suspended and boom they pot two! Welcome back Prongs!!!!!
-
2-1 Senators...
-
That Heatley, he's sure is a sabre killer, 'course he's also a Thrasher killer...
-
Where's the call? Reverse the sweaters and you'd get a penalty.

Denying the patently obvious makes you look worse. The possibility of seeing this again from Chris still lurks if he doesn't see that what he did was unacceptable. When you're 6 foot 6, and are bearing down on a (much smaller) guy you need to be in control of yourself.
-
That's true but he wasn't so it's an easy choice. Nik has that uncanny way of almost surgically removing the puck from opposing players, even when he has to catch up from behind.
-
If Flip got by him twice, he must be injured, I see the logic now.
-
Why not throw it out, period. He's fine, Val is just that quick... A lot of people speculate that their fav. players' subpar performance must be due to an undisclosed injury .

Bert has great hands! He converted a pass from Lang to score and he was the one who slid that puck back in front for Cleary to score--'twas a nice play as the announcers said. There are times away from the net when he bobbles the puck but I think it's just rust, which is slowly but surely getting the grease! The longer we last, the better I think he'll be: he's one hell of a hockey player and the ability that made him the premier power forward in the league is still in there somewhere.

It might be hard to get a puck through all of that . On the 1st 5 on 3, we relied too heavily on one-timers... Giguere has the ability to anticipate one-timers from far out near the point; he ends up square to shooter every time. When we stick with passing plays, like the back door pass play, the 'one-timer' is a 3 foot tap in and he's got no chance to get set for that. On the 2nd 5 on 3, Lang faked the back door pass to Pavel and shot a nice wrister headed into the net but it hit the shaft of Jiggy's stick. It was a good play but them's the breaks... I hope we stick to passing plays rather than one-timers.

Agreed. He's slowly returning to form and that's great for us. I wish he'd check someone other than Huskins though! Anyone else notice that?

I think that all of us Wings fans were content to come out of Anaheim with the split before Game 3. The Wings are about where we wanted them to be at this point in the series. Yeah, we could be up 3-1 but things might have evened up anyway! These two teams are really even. It might well come down to getting the timely bounces, though either of these teams could blow the other one out! We had to take the Avalanche to 7 games on the way to the last cup, don't forget! GO WINGS!

These aren't the Flames or Sharks that we can sleep thru 1st periods and then scramble back to form for the win... no 60 minute effort and we's playin' with fire... Quack fire I tells ya...
-
Usually the Wings are money on 5 on 3's... Huh... 13 and 40 had an off night, not a good time to mail it in...
-
Babcock is not to be blamed on this one. It was the bad start, the failure to score on the 5 on 3's, and the fact that Giguere stole one for the Duckies. Like a few here, I had a bad feeling about the Wings sitting back and they sure did. I realized that several of their guys are due to break out and when a team gets their asses kicked that bad at home, they will do some soul searching. I knew the Wings would come out flat... that's what happens after a win like that, and they lost pronger as well. Not surprised. Zetts looked possessed at the end but it's way too late. Babs was pissed at pavel for his lackadaisical backcheck on the Bert. giveaway--I think when Datsyuk looked a bit off tonight early Babcock gave up on him, but in the playoffs you go with the hot hand and it was Bertuzzi/Cleary for sure... I hope the positive that comes out of this is the Bert/Cleary connection grows.
-
No excuses for the loss tonight... We were never in command of this one. We needed our #1 pp unit to be functional but really I think Giguere swiped this one. What a lost opportunity... Now this is gonna be a dogfight right to the end--guess we knew it would be...

Damn CBC curse... I hate listening to these two dopes all happy the wings are losing, they seemed so nicely crestfallen at the start of the game. C'mon Wings! -

We aren't going to get s*** out of Don Vancouver--we'll have to fight through a lot of obstruction and score some gritty, dirty ones perhaps short-handed. -

Not surprised to see early adversity--I figured we would tonight. Bertuzzi needs to make up for that terrible giveaway... We certainly have been in this spot before in the playoffs... We can't give up the next goal. C'mon guys! Spanking a team alway causes a let down, no matter what the coaches say... Get your heads out of Disneyland...
