I doubt I will ever find significant enough justification to pay that much for a hockey stick. I'm a bit old school myself, GS&T. I laced 'em up at age four and stuck with wood until about two years ago. I finally got a half-and-half type stick, I believe it was a composite shaft with a honeycomb wood core. Since then I've gradually migrated towards whatever cheap composites are on the market. Right now Perani's is selling some WinnWells for under $40, so I've gone through a couple of those but now I'm back to a two-piece setup. Composite with a wood outer shell and a wood blade. Something about it just feels better. What really burns me is when I bust a composite and some audacious punk fixes the shaft and puts a new blade in it. I'm always tempted to beat him up and take it back.

I believe it was Hainsey he just put the shoulder into, passed the puck up the boards to the point. Solid play, there's not another guy on the roster save perhaps Franzen that can and will do that.

I hate his turnovers, and it used to be that on the rare occasion that you saw him, Willy, and Pavel on the ice at the same time, I'd curl into a ball and pray for it to end soon. His shots lately have been terrible, High and Wideâ„¢ is certainly an appropriate title. Despite all that, he's obviously quite good at what he does, and should be kept if the price is right.

I think Dandy's happy with it. But he probably liked winning more, which means being a Wing would rank higher on his list.

No kidding. That's why I had to say "for his size." Nobody could hope to compete with Hatch. Boogaard and Brashear could probably run circles around that pylon.

He's slow for his size, yeah, but so were Hull and Luc. It's not necessarily a huge disadvantage, even in the "new" NHL. I've been very impressed with him. As has been said, he makes Sammy's spot look a bit less critical, because at least Hudler hits the net more often than not. I like his attitude and ethic, too. Despite Flip's slightly bigger build and quicker feet, he seems to get knocked off the puck more often than the smaller and trickier Rex. And nothing beats him getting scrappy with the comparatively gigantic Kubina in that preseason game, I still like that one.

If I'm not mistaken, he's a -3 at the moment. He was out there for five of Boston's six goals. For him, that's terrible. Not that I'm saying he's bad, just that he's had either an off day or an unlucky one.

I'm surprised to say it, but it's been a bad game for Lidstrom and Datsyuk, probably their worst of the year. Pavel even had another ill-timed giveaway that resulted in an excellent offensive chance for the other team.

He's shown a potent offensive game that most of us didn't expect to see. Two goals, three assists, and a plus-3 in the last four games. Not too shabby, his production increased with his icetime. I remember a thread or two early in the season claiming he'd make a good second-liner, kudos to whomever had the foresight.

Maybe they're just resting him for the playoffs. Oh wait.

For what it's worth, I get pretty angry about the stupid lengths people go to on the Blues boards to get at us. It doesn't make much sense to me, but there's no incentive there to fire back. The comparison of cities and fans is stupid, too. I've vacationed to Nashville numerous times. My family comes from Arkansas. South is no different than north. There are good things and bad things. That second goal was odd. How the hell a guy like Giguere gives up a goal like that is beyond me. I bet he's getting an earful right now.

I think a big reason they separate players from the league's leadership positions is the division between NHL and NHLPA. None of the board of directors would trust a player to be fully impartial on monetary matters.

It would make decent sense to have Norton up for the stretch to help ensure that nobody gets hurt leading to the playoffs, but I strongly doubt that management would do it.
