I would like the Wings and any other team that got to play in a Winter Classic game to keep the throwback jerseys and when they play each other they can wear those jerseys. Since the Hawks and the Wings play 6 times a year, maybe just have the teams wear the jerseys once or twice(home and home, but will need an away version for the Hawks and a home version for the Wings)

Now that, ladies and gentlemen, was Detroit Red Wing hockey at its finest. I don't want to hear the excuse from the Sharks that it was a back-to-back game. Such a lame excuse anyways IMO. GO WINGS!!!!!!!!

The people that are freaking out with how the Wings are playing right now need to settle down. Like RusDRW said, every team plays the Wings like they are in the playoffs already because the Wings are the measuring stick for them to see if they can hang with that type of caliber. Why do you think that it is so hard for a team to win back to back Cups? I wouldn't be suprised if the Bruins lose to Tampa Bay on thursday because they will not take them as seriously as the Wings.

Hudler-Filppula-Cleary I'm glad this line is together again. They were quite good together last year.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I seen this. The bolts could use some D but at 2.5M I wonder if they would pick him up leaving about 480,000K from their supposed 2.98M cap space available.

Helm has got to be on the fourth line this year. The kid works extremely hard every time he is on the ice and has good offensive skills. It seemed like every time he was in the offensive zone he was the center of attention and made smart plays with the puck. He could get 10 goals on the 4th line this year easily.

Man, that's going to be a good battle for a spot on the fourth line. Kopecky, Helm, McCarty, Downey, Draper, Maltby, Leino, and possibly Abdelkader.

Gratton along with Gelinas would be the only 2 guys I would have wanted the Wings to get to replace Drake. Good move by TB.

There's no way Cleary goes on the fourth line, especially after scoring a goal. Hopefully that will get him going again. Hudler is good on any line and I thought he did the most damage on the fourth. These would be my lines: Homer - Z - Dats Franz - Flip - Sammy Drake - Draper - Cleary Hudler - Helm - Maltby

They might keep track of time of possession during intermission but not during the game like after a good 5 minute attack for example.

First of all I just want to give some kudos to the Wings tonight. They played brilliantly!! I have a proposition for what would be a new stat displayed on broadcasted NHL games. As currently done by the NFL, could the time of possession be displayed on the screen when a team has the puck in the offensive zone? It could be just overall time of possession with the puck as well. I realize it may be more difficult with the abrupt, unpredictable, and countless changes of possession between the 2 teams so I would propose that the time of possession be displayed only when the team with the puck has it more than 1 minute on each possession or on a PP. Is this something the NHL could plan and implement to next season?

One thing I have noticed in the regular season was that Val can't take too many body checks or else he gets off his game. Well, this series he has not only done that, but he gets knocked off the puck quite a bit and it's evident every game this series. I think if he wants to keep his top 6 minutes, he must find a way to even that disadvantage up for the sake of himself and the team. Don't get me wrong I like the kid, but this team needs him to step up and play more like I know he can. I'm sick of seeing him get knocked around like a little rag doll this series. What do you peeps think about this??

Eh, everyone has their own nicknames for certain players. I call Lidstrom "the Professor" or "Captain Professor" now. The reason for this is that he is so smart and it gets reiterated quite often. See quote below my sig. I get a lot of flak from people because Larionov was the original so called "professor" but that's the beauty in living in a country with freedom of speech. Saint Nick is a cool nickname though.

That really sucks for the Sens but IMO they weren't going anywhere in the playoffs. Maybe they would survive the first round but I couldn't see them making a deep run into the playoffs based on their goaltending and recent play.

I actually like that lineup you got there. The only thing I would switch would be Hudler for Downey/Mac. Hudler has been almost invisible the last few weeks and will get knocked around quite a bit in the playoffs. Without him putting up goals he serves no purpose IMO.
