Jason Wooley!!!! No, but seriously I would like the Wings to pick up Rolston.

Let's face it people. As much as everyone would have liked the addition of a second liner like Prospal or Richards, the terms of the deal or the personnel were just not right for Holland. But, I think the main reason why Holland stood pat on that issue is because this team is based on solid defense and goaltending. We are a dominating team when we can posses the puck and play our style of hockey and that will not change just because we didn't get some guy that MIGHT help us on offense IF he gels with the team. I have great confidence that when all our guys come back from injuries, you will all see this dominating team once again. Cleary is going to be the difference in the playoffs and our defense and goaltending will be stellar. Here is to a long playoff run!! GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He sure f'n did

With Ericsson showing more potential than Lebda and the recent slump in offense right now, would it be possible to convert Lebda into a forward? Lebda is very good breaking into the offensive zone and could give our team a nice spark. Or, would his lack of offensive skills be too much to take a chance on? Thoughts??

McCarty's fight from friday with Zack Fitzgerald

It looked like the guy Mac was fighting wanted Mac to lay him out. Or get some TV time...lol. -
Hossa Sweepstakes down to four teams?
ProfessorLidstrom5 replied to YoungGuns1340's topic in General
I would part with Flip if that meant that we could re-sign Hossa as soon as we trade for him. If not then try to get a guy like Gratton. Scoring really isn't the issue when we are 100% healthy but I would still want Hossa if he is available. We also need a veteran D-man as well. -

What minors you want to see the last week of season
ProfessorLidstrom5 replied to babygorilla's topic in General
Jonathan Ericsson -
Yeah, I have really been warming up to Meech lately. I like his work ethic.
-
I think they should look into a trade for Fedorov and Foote.
-
Yeah, I was thoroughly impressed with what I seen out of him today. He sure didn't look like a guy that just had his 4th or 5th start of his career. I hope he continues to improve and develop in GR over this season and become our #2 goaltender next season behind Ozzy.

Cool, thanks for the info.

Did anyone see the fight that Mac got into tonight?? I'm wondering how he looked in it.
-
With this game being televised on national tv, I hope the Wings find some purpose to overcome their slump. "Without purpose there is no passion."

I just got goosebumps after reading that. HOSSA TO DETROIT!!!!!

Fedorov, Hossa, or Prospal for the scoring winger Campbell or Stuart for a d-man Gratton or Tucker for the gritty forward
-
Campbell is definitely on my wish list for this year's deadline. With Markov not in the lineup this year, I believe we lost out on some toughness on the blueline. Kronwall is decent and all, but I really think Campbell can come in and add some of that grit we so desperately need.

Trade deadline in 2 weeks. Your one winger, and D.

Hudler, Meech, and a first round pick for Hossa -
That's 2 key player injuries now right before the deadline. If Cleary is out for some time I wonder if this has any bearing on who Holland has his sights on.
-
I'm not so sure that if he did come back to the Wings at the deadline that the fans would welcome him with open arms. The booing could be from jealousy in many cases and seeing him in that number 91 jersey could reverse that kind of feedback IMO

That is quite awesome. To go along with that stat, one of the announcers during tonight's game said that the Wings lead in 3rd period goal differential by like +25 or something. After they announced that at the end of the second period I couldn't help but to laugh like a mad scientist...mwuahahahahahaha!!!! Then bam! it was 3-1 Wings...lol

Just some food for thought and the fact of me being bored with no Wings game on. Could a first round bye in the playoffs make the playoffs more interesting? Would it make much of a difference?? Now before you go and bash this idea by saying it would kill old time hockey tradition, will hurt a team's momentum, etc. etc. just open up your mind. I think it would be kind of cool with the fact that the top 2 seeds from each conference get to rest up and/or get a chance to see how their first opponent plays in the playoff atmosphere each year. It would also be more meaningful to get the best record each year and guarantee that the top 4 teams in the league get to the 2nd round in the playoffs. As the current standings show now, it would look like this: West Conference Detroit - Bye San Jose - Bye Minnesota vs Vancouver Dallas vs Colorado Calgary vs Anaheim East Conference Ottawa - Bye Philly - Bye Carolina vs NY Islanders Montreal vs Boston Pittsburgh vs NJ So what do you think???
-
Good, I'm not sure that is a type of player we need anyways. We need a physical winger who can pitch in a few goals and a stay at home physical d-man.

Should the NHL have first round byes in the playoffs?
ProfessorLidstrom5 replied to ProfessorLidstrom5's topic in General
Haha, yeah that would be awesome!! Although I'm sure they would be quite rusty by the time they have to play again...lol -

Right on. I thought that would be the answer more times than not. It's just a fun idea and nothing more than that.
