Well I believe Drake would split time with Kopy during the season with Downey impressing Babs more and more. Drake needs to be saved for the playoffs and needs to be healthy when that time comes.

The idea of splitting up the ZDH line is ridiculous. That line is our top scoring line and breaking them up will just decrease our goal output and put more pressure on our defense and goaltenders to win games. These are the lines I would roll: Dats - Z - Homer Huds - Flip - Cleary Malts - Drapes - Sammy Downey - Franz - Kopy The top line goes untouched. The second line loses Sammy and gains a potential sniper as well as a leader in Cleary to play with the kids. Flip can set up Cleary and Huds which will produce good scoring chances. The third line gains more scoring chances through Sammy, who is known to shoot the puck a lot more than Malts and Drapes. The fourth line is pretty similar and has a lot of size and grit.

One could say it is good for the Wings to have a tough division because it gives them more competition than before and an outlook to playoff hockey before it comes. Another could say it is bad for the Wings because a sudden increase in competition could force the Wings to make changes to their play and/or roster which could help/hinder us in the future. It's a crap shoot. Also, could someone like the Blackhawks or the B.J.'s surpass our point lead and leave us in a number 2 or even 3 seed in our division thus giving us a tougher first round opponent? I'm not sure after tonight's game...

Well I knew it was going to happen once everyone got healthy again. It was either him or Ellis and IMO, I would rather risk losing Downey than Ellis

It sucks that he has to end his career like this but I'm glad we won't get him now for sure.

Well with the great start to the season the Wings are having, will this 5 day layoff benefit the team or make them a little rusty? I've seen it countless number of times in other sports, including this past World Series in which the Rockies got swept by the BOsox because of their 8 day layoff. I'm just worried that we might cool off a bit and this is the month where we need to be good if we want to stay atop in the central division.

I realize it's a bit early in the season still but it would be a nice luxury to have a great month and put up a nice sized lead in our division.

I would take either one of them but both Sundin and Federov would be sweet!!

Actually, Hudler becomes a healthy scratch so no need to send him down.

Hudler would be my choice to get the scratch. IMO the guy is an AHLer at best and hasn't shown me anything thus far. He gets knocked off the puck more than Pronger gets booed and is way too slow (must have been something Lang taught him when they lived together...lol). The more grit and intensity we have in the lineup the better and Drake provides that eventhough he won't be able to fight for a while. Love the Drake!!

Don't know if we have a shot at Prospal but Gratton seems to be a more realistic scenerio. Weren't the wings looking at him when he was with Florida a while back?? He's a big body too and could help out along the boards on the second line.

I'm in the same boat as you. I love watching the Griffs when they play the Admirals though. I feel like the only Griffs fan there
