I agree with the Smyth for Dats trade and think it would help us out more. But i see why Edmonton would rather have a dman in the mix instead. People over there are tearing Smith a new one and saying he should hand over the captaincy. I havn't seen many Edmonton games but i always thought Smith was a great D-man and underated. Anyways we would probably have to do a Dats and Dman for Smyth and Torres would be my trade. Your right too. Edmonton always had to dish off there best players cause they couldn't afford them and they still manage to field a fun team to watch and have had some success. The playoff battles between Edmonton and Dallas were always fun to watch. They are currently complaining about some of the contracts handed out in the off season like Pisani's. Anyways Holland doesn't have the balls IMO. So why discuss it other than boredom.

Captain Canada would be a great fit here in Detroit i think. Both players are UFA's at year end. Both players want raises. In this case on Smyth i think is some what deserving of one as he has consistently taken less money to stay in Edmonton. If he felt he had a good chance to win the cup here i could see him coming here too. Only problem i hear is that Smyth is looking for arround 5 mill a season. Not sure on cap space and he just broke his thumb and is out for a tad. Some people (WingNutt) have to stop using there love for a player blind them when thinking of Detroit hockey. It's a business and the GM's are supposed to strive to make the team better not make life long pals to give rewards to for mediocre offensive #'s. If a trade makes sense for the team i hope Holland goes for it.

The people on the Edmonton board seem to think that we wouldn't want Smyth cause he is like Holmstrom. They claim to want a good stay at home D-man. Or at least the fans on the board over there do. Who knows about KLowe.

Perhaps we should trade Smyth for Datsyuk for this year. Both players can see how it is on another team and decide if they like there old teams more.

Big Snake was on the Vancouver Giants a few years back when i had season tickets. He was a crowd favorite and definatley fun when he fought. He would take his helmet off and skate to center ice so everyone could see his fights. he was traded though. Rumor was there were some problems with him and they didn't want to deal with him anymore. I'll ask my friend who was a huge bigsnake fan and see if i can get any more info.

Isn't he a Center. if thats the case you would think he would want to sign on a team that needs a center and i'm not sure Detroit is it. Vancouver could use some secondary scoring so he may make a decent 2nd line center there. But i am thinking he would want to be the number one guy so who needs a number one center????
