If it's anything like the realignment issue then yes, apparently this board does need a new thread every time. So get used to it cause at the moment it seems like we will have another thread come saturday/sunday if something doesn't change. Topic will be exactly the same, bitching will be exactly the same but it will be a new thread non the less.

This cracks me up. Poor dude in the red he is trying so hard.
-
Seconded, if it's not to much of a hassle. Thank you for the wallpapper.

Redwings concession for moving east How Do You Feel About The Southeast? 2012-13 Realignment Leak? Illitch News and Notes What can be done to go East? And now we can add this thread "Another realingment scenario" to the list of links regarding this that have been posted in the last month. Nice work!

I would go with 97 Konstantinov. This team needs more Defence in my opinion and he plays a style I like.
-
Konstantinov baby! Some decent players in there but he is the man.

I have friends that say that exact same thing to me. How many Detroit fans will fall off the wagon once we have a few lean years? Allot of us have had it good for 20 years. I don't remember the 80's so I hope i'm as passionate about the wings if and when we have a downturn. I wonder if the Jets players are adjusting to having a crowd that is different from what they are used too.
-
Imagine all the head hitting penalties he could draw though.

Post the link again if you don't see it, just don't make a new thread every time is all i'm asking. I'm not trying to pick on your either as others do it too, just something I noticed in general of late so I thought i would say something. Maybe it's just me though. Any way's carry on.

This information was reported in a link I already posted weeks ago in one of the many other threads about realignment or the wings moving east. It was no doubt also posted by others. Can we as a group stop making a new thread every time something is mentioned on this?

97 and 98 for me hands down. 98 sticks with me especially because of Konstantinov and Mnatsakanov. When Yzerman presented Konstantinov that cup when he was in the wheel chair it was just something super special and has stuck with me since.

I have nothing to back this up but i'm pretty confident in saying that those are not the two most popular teams in the league. Up in the top 3rd of the league sure, but come on, the 2 most popular i feel is a stretch.

I know this may not be a popular post but is there some type of control on any donations for the http://loveforlokomotiv.com/ or the one the Pens/Caps are doing? We can all agree the plane crash was a tragedy but putting that aside here, we gotta think about this. In a time of world economic crisis they are asking we donate money to families of people who got to play hockey and many made a great living doing it. I can totally understand for flight attendants, pilots, trainers, medical staff, players and anyone else on the plane that didn't make a large amount of cash. But if I was to donate I for sure don't want it going to the wives of families of players that are already rich beyond what a majority of us will ever attain. So I just hope there is some type of control on the donations. Otherwise good stuff.

Awesome wallpaper, weird schedule tho. Thanks much

Here an idea, have 4 divisions. Each team plays a home and home vs every other team. Remaining games are vs teams in their division. Top 4 teams from each division enters playoffs. So simple. 1 western road trip for US teams, 1 Western Road trip for Canadian teams. But that is just crazy talk. Which they are considering that I linked before in another thread. I also made a graphic of the divisions.

I agree with this, the mental side of the game is huge. I believe Bert is a prime example of what your mind can do to you as he is half the player he used to be. Smith should learn from it, and move on. I also think Shanny is doing a good job, but i want to see if he sticks with it or if he gets soft when a superstar is involved. I think in a few years there are gonna be allot of repeat offenders at this rate.

The article I linked said "four division format is very much in play for 2012-13, with the four divisions being, according to Ottawa Sun reporter Bruce Garrioch, the Pacific, Midwest, East and South. In this proposed format, teams would play a balanced schedule and the top four teams from each division would make the playoffs." Another article I read which I can't find atm said that they would play each team in the league a home and home series, then the remainder of the games are vs only those teams in their division. This would accomplish the 1 western road trip mentioned. Here is the divisions based on the one article I linked earlier in a visual format. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/508/divisionalchairs.jpg/

Please don't give them any ideas. I'll have to wait to see it in a game before I can comment on if I like it or not.

I have no doubt that this site has great fans that would do just that, back in 2004 when Larionov had his retirement game I expressed interest in trying to get a copy of that game as it wasn't broadcast where I was. A fellow fan here stepped up, he recorded the game, burned me a copy on disk and mailed it to me. They never asked for a penny but got my thanks and i'm sure good karma. I still have the disk, watched the game again in the summer during hockey withdrawals.

Awe, to relive the old great quotes. Thanks for reminding us of the thread. What a hoot! lolz

I'm surprised he has a A on his jersey.

I was reading this article about the movement and decided to whip up a quick graphic of where they state teams will be placed. Article - http://www.thefourthperiod.com/gspot/mgrossi110625.html Image - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/508/divisionalchairs.jpg

My point basically was the fans shouldn't make claims regarding travel or just unsubstantiated claims like the one I did above. They are not based in any kind of fact and are mostly ones personal opinion. This decision won't come down to anything like that anyway's. Personally for me, the move to the east will suck. Living on the west coast will make it that much harder to actually watch my team.
-
Interesting, here is one of my own thoughts based on about the same stuff you base your opinion on. If Detroit moves East they will become weaker. We will become complacent and won't work as hard. We will easily lose 5 wins in a season due to playing in a weaker conference which breeds weaker teams. Detroit has been doing just fine in the West I'm sure we can all agree. Just thinking from memory we have had: 6 Presidents Trophies 20 straight Playoff appearances 8 Western Conference Final Appearances 6 Stanley cup Final Appearances 4 Cups But that jet lag is killing us.

I found this article regarding Fedoruk insightful when it comes to the minds of enforcers. Ferdoruk believes most NHL enforcers have issues off the ice. Mental things that drag them down. He says most enforcers are never really secure in their role or with their team and are always wondering whether they “fit.” That’s their common bond, he said. “It seems more and more, the guys who are demon fighters are the ones who play this role,” he said. “I don’t know if this goes hand-in-hand or you have to be a little crazy to do what we do. It’s a price you pay.” With some rewards, he says. http://www.csnphilly.com/08/31/11/Former-Flyer-Fedoruk-battles-demons-to-g/news_flyers.html?blockID=556996&feedID=704
