After some research you are indeed correct they do have a cap. I found two different set of figures though.

I still prefer the classic ones that show great old plays over the ones that show recent ones. This new one is good though. Makes me curious as to how they will follow it up but if recent progression says anything the next one will have Chicago or Philly guys in it.

As for the KHL having a lower tax and offering all this $. I say go right ahead if they can actually sustain it. You have Lada Togliatti droping out cause they couldn't meat financial requirements from what I read and you also have teams merging in HC MVD and Dynamo Moscow.... so how healthy is that league? Granted 2 new teams were added as well apparently for next season. Oh and the Stanley Cup is way better than the Gagarin Cup.

The problem with the what if adds was that they started using things from this season instead of sticking to historic events of the past. Sure some things this year will be historic but not a week after they happen IMO. Nice on though.

I was just gonna say Stanislav Galiev looks nice too. Needs to bulk up a little but he is around where we will be picking so. Also appears to have a good attitude from what little I have read about him so far.

Yes it's on one of the first pages of this thread. But that didn't come with any source so I chalk it up to hearsay so far. It would be cool if we could get a link to confirm. EDIT - Checked and Draper_Rocks#33 post 36 said it.

Don't know much about the players and i'm not saying I would pick him but is there a news story or some source for the team mates saying they would help pack his bags? Just want to make sure it's documented and not hearsay.

Hey guys, I'm having a discussion with a friend about setting a deadline for Lidstrom to make a decision on his retirement. I felt it was only fair to the team that he lets us know by the 1st of July so we can move forward. My friend disagrees and thinks he should have all the time in the world. Regardless of this discussion it was both our opinions and is just a little back story on my question. Anyways he cited Sundin and Neidermayer as two players given all the time in the world to decide. He asked me for any examples of people given deadlines so does anyone know of any players who were given strict deadlines by GM's. I'm sure it has happened but as i'm no GM expert nor have a great memory I can't recall any. Any help is appreciated and links to news or anything would help. Cheers.

While I was searching for an example I cam across the following which doesn't really state a deadline as in you have till x time but more of a dumb ass idea. In 1996 John McCaw and Quinn, after many discussions and much pursuit and negotiation had Gretzky all but locked up as a free agent. The papers were drawn up and Gretz had all but committed and asked if he could have a night to sleep on it before he signed...Quinn said OK but Stan McCammon (Canucks President and McCaw lap-dog) when he found out, thinking that Gretzky was shopping the Canucks offer around, called Mike Barnett (Gretzkys agent) and demanded that he wake Gretzky, in the middle of the night, and give the Canukc s a yes or no right then at that moment, ...Gretzky was so annoyed and put off by this he said no and the next week signed with the Rangers. Anyways I'm looking into the Heatley Ottawa situation and the 4 million dollar bonus. It fits what i'm looking for other than the fact he wasn't a free agent and the deadline was regarding a trade by the July 1st date. If anyone knows of any cases where a deadline was given to a player to decide to sign or not that would be helpfull.

I agree he is over rated. I think they are really missing Mitchel at the moment. With that said the whole mental game is getting the best of the whole team as well.

Paul Martin played in 22 games this year, had 2 goals, 9 assists for 11 points and was a +10. Only had 2 penalty minutes as well. I have not seen tons of play from him but he seems like he would fit in here nice. I do agree though that NJ will no doubt attempt to resign him.

Paul Martin perhaps if Lidstrom Retires. Alexander Frolov depending on who we resign for forwards. Maybe and just maybe Kyle Wellwood. Can't fully commit to this yet. Basically guys who can play a puck possession style game.

I think it's time to suck it up and face adversity. What has happened has happened but complaining about it won't change the results of the previous games. Stressing over this stuff isn't worth it. Just need our guys to step up and lead us out of this round in winning fashion.

We were talking about this today and it came up that Green is a player that wasn't good enough to be a winger so he is a D man. I lol'd Regardless that whole team from the coach down blew it from game 5 on.

I was talking to friends during the second intermission and something came up. Do you think it would be a good idea to have like a ref like member off the ice that reviews plays and during the intermission just shows them quickly to the refs on ice. I know it can't change calls already made but it can perhaps help refs determine certain things and call shenanigans when needed. Like if a player dives, perhaps not be so quick to side with him next time something happens that they didn't get a great look at.

Would be interesting to compare some peoples responses today to the ones they made back when the incident occurred. I will say Bert is a shadow of his former self.

If the home team gets a penalty the second time something is thrown I'm surprised the away team hasn't had fans in the stands that are ready to throw something on the ice just for the penalty if they are down late in the game. Could you imagine that. A yotes fan throwing octopi on the ice for a penalty or a wings fan throwing snakes. Could be pretty smart but desperate tactic.
