I'll have to check when I get home but I believe I still have it. I think I even burned it to a DVD. If that's the case, I'll just send you a copy. Let me check after work first though. P.S. I really, really think Illitch screwed the pooch by not releasing a DVD highlighting Stevie's career before his number was retired. That could have made a mint. I know I'm still waiting for one.

I know! I couldn't stop laughing when I read about this sighting! It would be no different than seeing Charlie Sheen emerge from a brothel. The two go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly.
-
That's not really a big deal. The chances are extremely high to bump into McCarty at any local hospital.
-
I've been pretty vocal on these boards for my distate for McCarty. But I was looking forward to seeing him out there too. Especially if he dropped the gloves with someone. This guy was injury prone in his 20's. I just don't see him surviving the NHL in his mid 30's. Dude could wear Knights Armor and he'd find a way to pull or break something. Hahaha. He's on my Wings roster too. And funny enough (or maybe not funny) he's out with an injury right now.
-
Geez, Mac couldn't survive the IHL and AHL without getting dinged up. This experiment is over. Why would we put a guy who's never 100% and hasn't played an NHL game in almost 12 months in our lineup? And when's the last time he scored an NHL goal? It's time to wakeup from this dream/nightmare. McCarty's not ever going to be a factor in the NHL again.
-
Otherwise he's awesome!
-
I'm shocked! So he doesn't like playing in a league where you have to carry your own bags, staying in motels where the cockroaches will carry you, toothless puck bunnies and playing in arena's which read 0,0 on a GPS? Hopefully all that buy-out money can buy him a work ethic. Until then, keep your ass in Russia.

Chris Pronger is one of the dirtiest players in the league and has never once truly been punished for his type of play. That's why it's going to be very bittersweet when he pulls some crap on a true NHL superstar like Crosby or AO and the league, and it's fans, lose one of the best players in the game today. That's the only way Pronger will learn to control his actions. Because up till now, the league is all but telling him to go ahead and do whatever he wants. And anyone who believes that this suspension was long enough all you have to know is this; both Pronger and Burke said they agreed with the length. Burke likes to ***** and whine like a fish likes to swim. If Burke thinks it's sufficient then it's not even close to being a fair judgement. Pronger is a repeat offender and should have gotten minimum of 15 games. It should have cost him a first round series. The problem is, only when there is a severe injury is a proper judgement handed down. What's the NHL waiting for? A player to have an artery in their leg severed because of some idiots action before they do anything? If anything, the PA should be all over this. Players are constantly griping that there isn't enough respect and then what do they do? They hide when a player of their's does something like this.

We've definitely got a great team here, no doubt. But I'd like to see how we do in the playoffs first. As all Wings fans have grown to find out, there's a monumental difference between regular season and playoff games. Regular Season = skill Playoffs = will.
-
I definitely think Hank is playing injured. I just hope this back problem won't plague him for the rest of his career. Especially if we sign him long term for a boat load of money. LivingtheDream, you can post whatever you want as long as you keep that sweet avatar in place. Brian Fontana would approve.

LA, NJ, NYR, NYI, Buf, Edm, Phx, StL all have a 'top' line that doesn't feature a 70 point scorer. It doesn't mean they're not top lines. And Homer has been playing on the top line for the past 3 seasons and yet hasn't touched 60 points and won't again this year. You put Vyborny with Dats and Zetts I guarentee you he gets over 70 much like Kozlov recorded 80 point seasons like he did when paired with Kovalchuk or Hossa. Vyborny will never be considered an all star but don't poo-poo his talent just because of one off year. Lots of players have 1 bad year but bounce back. The point is, Vyborny put up great numbers the previous two seasons and contrary to popular belief he did so while playing very little with Nash. We haven't even seen those 3 guys play together with Nash as their centre so who knows what happens. But I'd take that top line over a lot of other 'top' lines in the league. And to be honest, outside of Zetts and Dats, Vyborny would probably be our next most talented player and more than likely our top winger. Ugh, I'm not even sure why I'm bothering to argue. This message board can be such a pill sometimes. Nobody's allowed to say anything without anyone jumping on yelling, "YOU'RE WRONG and here's why!!!". This thread started as a Nash as captian thread to two guys argueing over whether Vyborny sucks or not. It's gotten to the point where you can't even come on here and say "Tuesday always follow Monday" without someone jumping down your throat "Back in the pagean holidays, on the island of Yore, they used to push Tuesday over Wednesday once every 75 years! So you're wrong!". You think Vyborny's not that great. I can accept that. Case closed.

I'm a big fan of Nash's. I like his size and his skill set. I'd love to have him in Detroit. Kind of like Homer? (who's never had a 60 point season despite getting lots of #1 ice time).
-
He's struggled this year, no doubt. But he was their top scorer for the past 2 seasons, topping 60 points in both years. He's having an off season. It happens. He's still a top 6 forward in this league.
-
Hitchcock was on XM last night and said they've asked him to consider moving to centre next season. I guess Nash isn't sure about this but Hitch believes they could have a Lecavailer-type pivot if he moves there. He said he's got the hands, vision and size to be a dominant centre in the league. I think this might actually work out well for the Bluejackets if he takes on the challenge. Zherdev-Nash-Vyborny. That's a top line in any league.
-
Hahaha. I can agree with this. I was actually in the running for the Lady Byng in my beer league. I made sure to get a roughing penalty down the stretch to make sure it didn't happen. But back on subject. Stats shouldn't be the only thing used to determine who's the best defensive forward. Look at Wayne Gretzky. He had +/- ratings well over 90 in some years and yet I'd hardly call him the best defensive foward of his time. It's why MacTavish and Messier took more draws on the PK than Wayne. Dats is a very good defensive forward, but if you were asked 'What player would you like out there to seal a win' Pavel might not even be in the top 10.
-
Hahaha! Sorry to pick on you Kira, but that's exactly how you react, at times, when someone says anything negative about Datsyuk. I think we're all guilty of being homers towards the team or individual players at times. However, I can see why people would compare Dats and Feds. They do play similar in some respects.
-
Yeah, it's easy to forget how dominant Feds was at both ends of the rink. The first 8 years of his career were arguabley one of the best any player has ever had. Then stupid Enrique Englasias had to ruin everything!!

The Selke has got to be one of the toughest awards to give out these days. It used to be easy back in the day as only 1 player on each team would backcheck. But now, with the exception of Kovalchuk, everyone comes back hard. So it'll probably come down to who has the best +/- with the most points. I'd say Datsyuk and Zetts will get serious looks for this award.

Hey guys. My hometown is one of the finalists in this years Kraft Hockeyville contest. We are by far the smallest town in the competition and yet our little burg of Kingsville managed to post over 140 pictures and stories to help propel us into the top 10. The next closest town was 52 stories and after that 16. If you can spare the time could you please visit: http://www.cbc.ca/hockeyville/finalists/Ki...e_Arena_Complex Just click the 'Vote' button. You can vote as many times you like. You only have to refresh the browser to do so. The winner gets $100,000 to upgrade the arena (which we need badly) and a NHL preseason game with all proceeds going towards the arena as well. Thanks to all that can help out! Hank

Hahaha. But I love that fair. My dad works for a farm equipment company and always drives a tractor in the parade. My kids get a big kick out of it as he always takes them for the ride. wingfan93, is Harrow a part of the Essex arena expansion? I heard it's going to cost $15M to build that 2-pad facility. Even Don Cherry and Ron MacLean donated some cash. Apparently all Cherry wanted in return was a 73's jacket.
-
That's precicely what goalies like Brodeur, Turco, Roy, Dryden and others want to happen. And as far as I'm concerned, if the above goalies think there's an issue with equipment size then there is. No matter how many beer league goalies we have here, who defend the size of the gear, I will always, always take the word of an NHL goalie (especially a Hall of Fame member) over that of someone who posted a 2.31 GAA for Home Hardware in peewee house league hockey. The equipments too big. Stop denying it so you can pad your stats in your Monday night beer league against overweight has-beens.
-
Thanks! I think from that point on, it's going to be a combo of voting and judges decisions.
-
Hey guys. Wanted to give an update. Thanks to you, Kingsville defeated Huntsville in the first round. We are now a top 5 finalist and guarenteed at least $20,000 towards helping our arena. Thanks again! Kingsville salutes you!

Broduer and Luongo (only 2 examples) also have excellent positioning. But there are times every goalie in the league is scored on when the opposing team makes a perfect east-west pass, that the goalie isn't expected to stop. But in those cases, both Broduer and Luongo have the athletic ability to dive across and stop goals they had no business stopping. It's in those instances that Giggy is useless. Remember last years goal that Franzen scored when he took a picture-perfect pass from Sammy out of the corner? Giggy simply turned his body and watched it go in. He didn't dive or go down. He didn't do a freakin' thing. I've seen that same goal happen on many other goalies but in almost every case the tender will make an attempt. Not Giggy. It's because he has not quickness or athletic ability to do so. And with all that bulky gear, he couldn't if he wanted to. And regarding more scoring, I'll agree that in today's NHL if a game is 5-4 or 2-1 it really doesn't make that much difference as every goal is scored the same. Most are done on the PP (which are boring goals to begin with) but even then most goals are scored the exact same way - rebound, deflection, screen. My whole issue with the problem of scoring is that there aren't enough scoring areas. Like you said Dallas27, if a goalie sees it, he stops it. That's been the case for only the past 10 years. There was a time (for nearly 80 years) when you could beat a goalie clean. Defenses and inflated goalies (as well as increase in their skill) have killed this type of goal. I'm just tired of seeing the same goal every single game. No more beautiful 3-on-2 or 2-on-1 goals. I used to love watching Stevie snap a shortside goal to the top shelf from 10 feet out. Wendel Clark was a beauty to watch in this regard too. But when you face goalies who prop up their shoulder pads with cardboard flaps, those types of goals have all been eliminated.

The whole point is that you are a newbie and you come on here to blast two members, who've been here a lot longer than you, for no reason at all. I don't give two craps and a monkey piss if you're in love with basketball, you don't need to insult anyone because their opinion is different than yours. How hard would it have been for you to respond "I can see why you don't like basketball, but here's why I like it". But no, you're like a lot of other new message board members that think they're cool by coming on a board and blasting people for their own amusement. Just because you can be safe behind your monitor doesn't mean you should be able to jump on any internet forum and blast away. Have some common courtesy. P.S. If that's how you're going to act on this message board then maybe it's not for you. I also think it's hilarious that you feel the need to use the word '******' and then call the rest of us kids. Please show some maturity around here.
