I think people on here are missing the point. Not showing a Canadian team on Saturday night is breaking tradition. We have been arguing on these threads for years how tradition is so important in hockey. Denying this game to primetime on CBC is a disgrace and the fact that Gary Bettman does not see that is further proof he needs to go! Having the game on NBC during the day will do nothing for the NHL, most casual watchers will be outside that time of day or carting their own kids to some event. The proof is in the pudding, the number of people watching the NHL on NBC during the day is below that of last year! We continue to loose this and other sporting events to the corporate world and it will continue to get worse and never better. Enough said!

I wear a throat guard when I play and have for about 15 years now. It is a clear plastic piece that I have tied at the base of my helmet. I hang it just below the lip of my helmet to prevent shots or deflections from raising up and hitting me in the throat. In 15 years I have never been hit in the throat, but have been hit plenty of times in the head and throat guard area. The throat guards are not expensive and you can tie it on with used laces. (see the link below $26 and includes laces to tie it on) http://www.goaliemonkey.com/vaughn-goalie-...vtg5500xxd.html

I am really not a big fan of Kronwall. He is not good defensively and I have yet to see his offensive side everyone has been so high on and I can't stand when people call him little Nick. He is no where near Lidstrom's skill level. What does everyone else think of Kronwall? Trade or No Trade?
-
Hudler Yes Filpula (sp?) No!!!! Filpula has shown me more in his first year than Kronwall in 4 years.
-
Don't you think the number of years that passes is just as important as games played! He has 4 years to prove himself and only 90 some games during that time. Now we have another 3 1/2 years to hope he becomes a goal scoring defensive phenom like Lids. Given what he has shown not likely. So trade him when he has equity! I am not saying rent a player for the playoffs, but look to get another young player in the mix (a power forard type we all know the wings need to win).

settle down bro we are having a discussion if you don't like the topic don't read further and don't post!!!!

having to gambe is a fair arguement, but how long do we gamble?
-
5 years is a long time to gamble in the new NHL! When is the last time we made a trade or signed an important UFA. Gambling in today's NHL is not practical.

Well Lebda has 3 goals and 13 points and a +8 shooting percentage of 4.1. Kronwall has 1 goal and 16 points and a +1 and a shooting percentage of 1.4. You tell me who is better and sounder defensively and has better offensive capability!
-
I am suprised that someone says Kronwall has been playing his best hockey while Schneider was out. I thought he looked his worst. To me he doesn't jsut give up the puck occasionally, but often and when he is the last defenseman. Lebda will play in more situations later this year and next. Remember Kronwall has had an opportunity for 4 years, and due to injury's has not played 100 games. Lebda, on the other hand, has played nearly 5 more games and looks much better.
-
When I say upside I mean potential. Lebda I think is more consistent defensively, he seems to know when to join the rush and he has phenomenal speed. He doesn’t make poor decisions in his own zone and he doesn’t pinch when he should retreat to a defensive posture. Does that answer your question?
-
Let me ask it this way. If you were in net for the Wings in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final who would you rather have in from of you Kronwall or Lebda. I think Lebda has much more upside than Kronwall, both offensively and defensively.

What gives you the impression he will be great down the road? I honestly do not see anything in his game to suggest he will last long enough to become even a good player. No offense or anything these are just my opinions. I am not saying yours or anyones are not true, but just looking to see if other people see what I see!

I am not asking if we can trade him, but if you want to trade him. In other words has he proven he is worth 5 yrs $15 million
