very good point, which is something many fans on here tend to miss the point on. This is a player's livelihood and likely only source of income.

Owning a hockey team is not good business -- or is it?

I just noticed something. As far as d-men go we have Lidstrom, Rafalski, Chelios, Kronwall, Lebda, and Lilja, they also mentioned Quincey. Where is Kindl going to fit in here? Is he going to just be in the AHL waiting for an injury?
-
well if they ended up doing that, it probably means they want to hand the reigns to Montoya, but I don't think he is ready and Lundqvist is too good to move.

link?

I believe the Blues offered him 2 years worth 7 million, so 3.5 sounds about right. A bit overpriced, but not near as high as what you're going to see tomorrow for people of similar calibre.

Are Anson Carter or Owen Nolan options?
yzerman&thewings=CUP replied to detroitdeviant's topic in General
no thanks on any of those -
he'll only stay if he doesn't spend too much time in GR. He came over to play for DET, and if we send him down, he has the option to return to Russia.

Holland: Prices for Bertuzzi, Schneider & Markov high

well there is a guy we have in our system that has good offensive upside as a d-man, and his name is Jakub Kindl. He could not only be a good d-man, but a good point man on the power play. -
oh ok, makes more sense

Did anyone just notice that Oilers GM Kevin Lowe just stepped down as GM?

Stop the Ticket Tax! “luxury tax

I understand your frustration. DeVos also had my vote, but I also am not sure he could have done any better. Like an above post said, there is such a disconnect in Lansing as to what the problems are in Michigan and how to solve them. Do you know how they balanced the budget this year? By borrowing from a billion dollar fund to be used to attract other businesses to michigan. Wow, what a narrow sited way to solve a problem in the short term; by mortgaging our long term plan to turn the Michigan economy around. Good call Lansing. You definitely are a model to follow for the other 49 states. -
Wings are hiring: Season Ticket Rep.

How could you possibly know that? Have you worked for them? -
Its not like this move cleared up a TON of space, but I think it was good for both sides. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Florida decided to throw the bank at Giguere. I think they should try living with Auld, he's proven he can do it in Vancouver.

Classic quote, when did he say that?
-
He isn't going to go anywhere....for 2 reasons - 1. He has 2 seasons left on his 4-year deal at $6.75 million per year, 2. That desire to compete will rear its ugly head. Case in point...look at Dom. He had every award he could have possibly gotten, yet he came back because he had that "desire" to play. I don't believe this story one bit. Of course it would be nice for us Wings fans if he left, but he won't and you all know it.

thats kind of nice of Illitch to refund the playoff money for season ticket holders, BUT they still made a ton off off other tickets.
-
The Toronto/Hamilton area fanbase could probably support 3 teams if the NHL allowed it, thats why.

I personally believe Liv is going to head back to Sweden. He only signed a 1-year deal. If I was him I would sign for another year to see if this year was just an adjusting period, but if what we saw this year is any indication, he's best suited back in Europe.
-
I remember Joe Morgan saying this once, and it equally applies to hockey. If you have an NHL experienced player vs. one who is either really young or a prospect, you take the experience almost everytime. No doubt Howard has the talent, but why take "prospective" talent over a proven goaltender in Ozzie? Besides, Ozzie has a year left on his contract, so its pretty much set he will be at least our backup next season.

haha, Ass Vision 3000, good call -
I want to make absolutely clear I am not a supporter of Granholm. However, the state of Michigan's economy really isn't on her. It is completely beyond her control. The state of Michigan's economy right now can be SOLELY be attributed to the Big 3 carmakers and their troubles. That and the fact that Michigan is a big union state, so its tough to bring in more manufacturing jobs when you know you can build a factory in southern states with no union. Trust me, I am no fan of Granholm, but this mess really can't be put on her....why do you think she got re-elected? Because most Michigan voters know she couldn't have done much to help it. However, it would have been nice to see if DeVos could have done something, but now we'll never know.
