Just go ahead and try that. I would guess by the second or third week you'll either quit or be hooked. So I wouldn't recommend that. Cigarettes aren't like beer or wine, you can't just do one a day. Also, I don't know where you got your info, but its common knowledge that cigarettes make heartburn worse.

You're right, Lang had that great goal in the closing seconds in one of the San Jose games. Also, I think everyone has contributed at one point or the other. This team really persevered under the circumstances of MANY injuries. I for one am also excited for next year. As far as Lang, I would hope we look to our youth a bit more. He was a solid player during his time here, but its time he moved on.

which one of you toilet papered Gigueres house?
yzerman&thewings=CUP replied to Roberto Who?'s topic in General
I'm pretty sure Giggy only gave up 3 goals, Bryzgalov gave up the last 2. -
true, I think mr. Pronger is eating some crow right about now.

well there's something for Mr. Karmanos to celebrate

Come on guys, you all know Barry Melrose is the most talented NHL analyst ever , his prediction is the one that matters! He picked up the ducks, oh no! We're doomed!
-
like Betman himself says, he's like a politician, so why are you surprised he's spinning facts in his favor just like a politician would?
-
point well made, Pronger was the best. But hey, I think they key word is "injury", that something Lidstrom has been a MASTER at avoiding.
-
we're lucky to have him, he's someone Wings fans should be proud of, he shows up every night and puts forth amazing effort. point well made, I couldn't have said it better

point well made, but in a business (which many fans forget this franchise IS a business), you have to make some real risks in order to make a big benefit in the end. Was 7 years a risk? Absolutely, but its a risk Illitch was willing to take, and I think it was the right decision. You won't know until the end of the contract whether it paid off though. A lot of people are poo pooing on Tampa's GM for giving Brad Richards $7.5 million per year, especially because he had an off year. But I would bet that his play will turn around just as assuredly as Datsyuk's play in the playoffs did.

no CBC? wow my dad who lives about an hour south of detroit is going to be pissed. He is pretty cheap and won't add the package that includes versus.

Convince me why I shouldn't be dreading this series....
yzerman&thewings=CUP replied to Packer487's topic in General
I know this is supposed to be a thread to convince, but lets not make incorrect statements. You said they don't have a Vezina calbre goaltender? I would say that the tandem of Nabokov(a deadly tender, and a former calder winner) and Toskala, who would be THE #1 on most any other team is certainly scary. So lets not say goaltending on their team isn't scary, because it really is. -
neither one of these guys watches hockey, they even admit it sometimes, and for some reason people still quote them. Its laughable.

Definitely a satisfying series. Hats off to Calgary, you put up a hard fight. Especially Kipper, you're without a doubt one of the best goalies of this era. He shows up night after night with humbled but amazing talent.

I'm not Mr. Patriotic by any means, but I believe the national anthem is something we should hold sacred. Yelling things, no matter what it is, during the star spangled banner is disrespectful...plain and simple. If those inbreds want to yell 'hit somebody" during the national anthem, then go ahead and prove to everyone why the Storm fans have the reputation that they do.
-
Another benefit....that stupid thing they do during the national anthem. Im not sure what they say, but its disrespectful anyways.

too bad, I'm gonna miss seeing all the mullets in the stands...haha. But seriously, I think this is a positive for Toledo. The TSA was an absolute hole to play in, and if suspending play for 2 years for the opportunity to play in a brand new arena as a new team is fine with me.

Where do I find playoff attendance records?
yzerman&thewings=CUP replied to Inultus's topic in General
I was listening to AM 1270 this morning, and I agree that the two main factors in the non sell-out are 1. Fans don't want to feel like they are wasting their money for another 1st round flame out (which I would agree with, I attended game 1 against Edmonton last year and am hesitant to buy tickets this year because of that 1st round exit), and 2. The Michigan economy is pretty awful right now, spending these high playoff ticket prices doesn't seem to be on the top priority list right now. But I would put money down you won't see a non sell-out again in the Joe this season. Game 5 and 7 will sell out, and if we advance beyond that I have all the confidence that wallets will open up for those. -
careful on that. Isn't that what we said about Giguere in '03? Goalies like that have nerves of steel, they don't wear out.
-
oh yeah, by being goalie in some basement beer league you know all the styles huh? Okay. congrats. Get off your pedestal and quit being a jackass.
-
When was the Joe known as one of the loudest/most intimidating buildings? I know we have had a great team and the atmosphere is always fun, but our fans have never been the rowdy or loud types you'll see in Edmonton or Calgary.

35 goals, 35 assists, total of 70 points (+10)....hmm I don't think I would say Hejduk underachieved. They are a team in transition, and like the above said, 95 points would have been enough most years. there is still that fire in me that wants to hate them, but no one is left on their side to hate really.
-
nice....can't wait for them to start!

Can't wait for the games to begin!

Hull: Datsyuk won't re-sign because of Babcock
yzerman&thewings=CUP replied to Sparty13's topic in General
Feds is a different situation. I think his decrease in production has more to do with age than going to a different team. When he went to anaheim in 03-04 his stats were right on par with what he averaged as a wing. Columbus is a different story though, that team has so much talent but has underachieved almost all season. If Dats were to leave to another contender, I have no doubt he would be just as productive. It is all about the situation you're in. Dats is in a great situation, so he would be smart to come back.
