I would say he's got it, but if he didn't and anybody other than Niedermayer won it I would be incredibly upset. Having said that I don't think you need to worry, Lidstrom is going to win.

Selanne predicts stardom for Red Wing
yzerman&thewings=CUP replied to timothy1997's topic in General
Nice things to say about his fellow Finn! -
its a good way to relax and know the Wing's playoff woes can't really compare to the Leafs. Im sure there is a bit of envy over there, especially in '02 when they were so close to meeting us there.

he doesn't deserve the recognition he deserves??? Dont you mean he doesn't GET the recognition he deserves?

I sure hope you're kidding. Granted, he's a highly talented player, but certainly not one of the top 10 since 1980. My 10 most talented would be in no particular order - Gretzky, Lemieux, Oates, Ciccarelli, Yzerman, Fedorov, Brodeur, Roy, Hasek, and Jagr. We're talking about talent right? If so, thats my list. Did someone say Kovalev earlier???? I'd put him in the same bin as Jokinen, although certainly talented, not worthy of top 10 since 1980.

oh im sure you're right, its just something I really want to ask. Its kind of ironic, all the questions I want to ask him are the ones I shouldn't ask. I also want to ask him why he moved out of Hartford when he promised not to, even though attendance was high. I know thats inappropriate, but there had to be a reasonable explanation of why. But I am kind of excited because he will give us some personal information of the business of Detroit, which I find really interesting.

I just received a potentially exciting e-mail today. Peter Karmanos, known to be the owner of the Canes and Mr. Ilitch's enemy (Im not sure if this is true or not) is coming to speak at the law school I attend to discuss some legal stuff. Normally, I wouldn't be interested in this. But I think I am still going to go anyways, its not going to be a big thing, only 30 or so people. Do you think he would field hockey related questions? I so desperately want to ask him about his relationship with Mike Ilitch.

same here, 23 23 23 23 haha. Everything on earth is linked to 23!

easy there! Im sure if you took Lidstrom off our team, then took Zetterberg off, dont you think we'd have a bit of troublee producing? The team you see now in Edmonton is not what took them to the playoffs last year, do your homework.

I'd definitely like Schneider back, albeit hopefully at a reduced cost. As for Lang, I like him but am not sure he should be back. If he'd sign for a million, I'd bring him back, but nothing more.

I am torn on this one. Roy's stats are going to be a bit inflated because of his time in Montreal. The time he spent there, especially in the 80s, was a time of HIGH HIGH scoring in the NHL. So that is a big reason for his GAA being bigger than Brodeur's. Marty came into the league after that so his numbers won't represent that time period. But regardless, this really is an unwinnable comparison, both goalies were/still are great. A few years ago I was convinced that Brodeur was a product of his system. But, with Stevens and Niedermayer now gone, he is still producing at an incredibly high & consistent level. They no doubt will go down as the 2 best goaltenders of the era, if not all time, but to say one is better just isn't even worth arguing.

ah you beat me to it, but great point! With as many posts as you've had on here, I would have thought you had more common sense than that.

Yahoo does post games online, but only choice games. However, tonight's game vs. nashville will not be one of the games, nor is the Vancouver game on saturday. You can watch other games though. Here is yahoo's upcoming broadcast schedule - http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AoZu...o&type=lgns

I would recommend just going down to the greektown area, there are tons of good places to eat. Then you can hop on the people mover for 50 cents right to the Joe.

how nice for you! At least we can see the games in person on a regular basis

I couldn't have said it better myself. We hated Chelly, look what happened. -
The prices for rentals are incomprehensible.
yzerman&thewings=CUP replied to Mighty Wings's topic in General
geez, this is ridiculous, Jacque Martin and John Davidson can lick my taint for what they're asking in return -
a strong playoff run will turn the fans at the Joe around pretty quick. But I will admit the JLA crowd overall is pretty weak. But on the other hand, tickets sell out so I don't complain. Ive been to 4 games this year, with the last being against Colorado last month, the crowd was pretty adnimated in my opinion.

Esposito on the XM: Wings looking at Tkachuk
yzerman&thewings=CUP replied to The Enforcer's topic in General
um, Modano had 77 points last season, not exactly a "depressed" year. Again, do your homework buddy. You're probably thinking of the 03-04 season. -

no, guerin wasn't, you're thinking of Tkachuik. Guerin played 70 games simply just couldn't score goals last year, for whatever reason. -

not sure where you're getting your stats, but 53 points in 81 playoff games certainly doesn't qualify as a playoff "no-show". in the 2001 and 2002 playoffs he actually averaged a point per game. 2002 in particular he had 10 points in 10 games, including 5 goals. Granted he is an overall minus, but his plus/minus increased when he came to st. louis. Do your homework buddy. -
yeah, this really sucks, I had him on the official LGW fantasy league, he was solid up until mid-january. I had to replace him with the ageless Ed Belfour, awesome! Its not like im making the playoffs in that league though, kinda playing for pride now.

point well made. People on radio AM 1270 always seem to think that TV ratings is an indicator of a league's viability. The NHL is doing fine city to city, but they focus on the most meaningless things with our league. We dont take in the tv revenue like the NFL, its a local sport unlike the NFL, to compare the two is crazy. Sometimes I want to strangle Mike Valenti when he opens his mouth, that "my opinion is superior to you" mentality annoys the hell out of me.
