Cubby Bear - Wrigleyville
Directly across the street from Wrigley Field. Should be a blast.

Hell no. The Red Wings jersey doesn't need to be messed with.Ever.
Agreed. No need for another logo, etc. Just use the practice jersey that's black. That looks sharp.

Congratulations on a 17th straight playoff birth (a longest active north american professional sports record). It's not a record. It's simply the longest active streak in North American sports.
-
That's it? I guess it's better than nothing. They couldn't suspend him any longer, the league needs him back for the playoffs. Otherwise, Detroit would win.
-
It doesn't bother me. The guy loves to play and loves to score. The excitement is good for the game.

i usually watch both, but i can barely watch around the horn.
i can definitely stomach PTI and Wilbon has made it clear that he grew up watching hockey so at least they know what they're talking about.
around the horn?
mehhhhh i like Cowlishaw and i think Woody Paige is funny.
Mariotti or whatever?
tool.
Mariotti's daughter was in my Anatomy class senior year of high school.
That's all I've got.

has anyone ever seen the black wings jersey? i always thought that would be a sweet uniform to watch the boys play in.I like those, too. They look sharp.

Per MSNBCAccording to msnbc.com, the nhl is strongly considering another winter classic, this time at Wrigley Field. I like the idea, but I am also concerned that Bettman is thinking that since the outdoor game worked once, he'll put it on overkill and do it all the time--and that takes away from the excitement and uniqueness of it. What's everybody think?
That said, if the outdoor thing is going to be consistently done, I think it'd be awesome to have a double header with Michigan/MSU, Wings/Somebody else at the Big House.
I just read an article on NHL.com. Bettman also just spoke during the intermission of the 'Hawks game. He intends to keep the outdoor game special and not overkill it.
The outdoor game would not be blacked out. I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but that's exactly what Wirtz is right now.
In the article it mentioned an outdoor game that was going to be staged at Soldier Field a few years ago. Since the Chicago Park District operates Soldier Field, they were unable to come to an agreement with the Blackhawks to host an outdoor game. The Blackhawks President (John McDonough) has a very good relationship with the Cubs and their ownership (was their team President before going to the Blackhawks in November). The only flaw I see with Wrigley Field is the drainage system. I believe there would need to be a ton of work done to make a game at Wrigley possible. If it does happen, though, I will be there!

Why are we dealing Lidstrom? :-P

Found this article on Yahoo! Sports. Searched for a thread on it already and came up with nothing. Sorry if it's a repeat.

I'd be willing to replace Bettman with a rented mule for commissioner at this point. He sounds like a jackass anyway when he's on TV talking about how great he thinks the status of the game is, and how Versus is watched by millions of households around the country. Bettman is living in his own little fantasy world.
I was thinking more along the lines of a pack of squirrels.

I'll raise you $5 and a zipper.
I see your $105 and a button and zipper and raise you $10 and a hand grenade.
-
Maybe the Hawks will try?

Ownership and Management
That says it all. It always starts with ownership.

Mark Recchi, Koivu, Blake, Cheli, and Smyth are not going to happen anywhere.
Chicago is still to bitter at Cheli for it to happen. If Koivu didnt spend his career in Montreal (where they r running short of numbers) i'd say he'd have a shot at it.
How can a team be running short of numbers? If I remember correctly, numbers never end. At some point, maybe after we are long gone, teams will have to go into the triple digits.
i highly doubt that feds will be retired here...unless he comes back and does some astonishing s***
Like help win us seven consecutive Stanley Cups (2003-'10)

The Red Wings Front Office won't be changing for a very long time. They do have the deepest Front Office in hockey, and arguably in sports. The reason they all stay: they're all committed to winning. And they're all committed to winning together.

BlakChamber ever hear of rapid cuts? this stuff is amazing works like a charm, i lost 10 pounds IN A WEEK AND A HALF. its natural with green tea extract caffeine and all this other good stuff
Where do you get this stuff?
-
Hey Matt, I noticed Lidstrom has a Steve Yzerman patch on his right shoulder. Is that something the Wings are doing this year?
That picture happens to be from the night they retired his number.

Why am I the only one that doesn't find this to be that great?
I think both Z and Draper deserve the right to bare the "A" night-in and night-out. I'm just not a fan of rotating it between 3 players. It may be good to help distinguish Dats as a leader, but I just don't like it at the expense of Z or Draper losing it every third game (if that's the way they're going to work this).
I agree. Z and Draper deserve the right to always be alternate captains. I don't think it's wise to rotate the leadership on the ice.
-
It helps if you actually watch the games.
Relax, guys.
They don't ask how, they just ask how many.
-
Good for Cheli!!
I'm glad he didn't.
Especially Giguere's, he has to be the biggest cheater in the NHL.
He'll get my respect when his protective gear is not in Hextall's realm.
Sore loser?

How are the playoffs done? If they're set-up the same is right now, then this heavily favors teams in the Western Conference. Much easier to be in the top 8 of 15 teams then in the top 8 of 18 teams. Were you planning on disregarding conferences when it comes to playoff seeding? i.e. Taking the top 16 teams regardless of conference?
I like that idea. However, I'm still not a fan of half the league making the playoffs. I'd cut it to 8 teams make the playoffs. Take the top two in each conference, and then then the top 6, regardless of conference.

Who are you to lecture me, Noob? 3 Cups >>>>>>>>> 0 Cups.
Sincerely,
Nik Lidstrom
P.S. 1 Conn Smythe, 4 Norris Trophies > 0 Conn Smythe, 1 Norris Trophy

FYI: The Ducks owned the Sharks in the regular season and Ducks only lost 1-0 to Detroit and 2-1 (1 1/2 hour delay for Yzerman pre-game ceremonies and critical injuries to team...I believe Pronger was out) in regular season. Our two wins over Detroit were convincing.
They don't ask how, they just ask how many.
So, you want to work for the Red Wings you say...

Although it's not officially listed, a BA/BS will be highly sought after. I'm currently going through school (will graduate with a BS) to obtain a position similar to that.
