good game. great game for oz!!!! dats is unreal. i didn't even see it until the replay, i thought he shot it high and wide left, didn't even realize he still had the puck! lol. good game by the boys, aside from kronwall that is, he was lousy. he's gotta be leading this team in giveaways.
-
looks like detroit dominated! didn't get to see it, unfortunately, but glad our boys stepped up for this one.
-
wow. that's funny.
-
it was probably the the person who threw something on the ice during play.
-
i agree. i've been a little hesitant to be too critical of oz this year. but he needs to sit. he's playing terrified and unsettled. he has no confidence in himself or the d. he needs to sit. conklin has only been marginally better, but he has been better. my goal this season was to remain optimistic, especially in my posts, but i've since opened pandora's box and i can't temper the pessimism gushing from my fingertips! i guess it's just not in my nature.

the other infuriating thing they do on defense is let opposing players stand alone, uncontested in the slot. anybody in the slot should be getting their asses kicked but the wings just let them skate in unfettered. it's so annoying. we have one of the easiest defensive zones to play in out of any team in the league that i've seen this year. wings are also terribly slow to pucks in their zone, and rarely win the physical battles along the boards. the list goes on. it all amounts to lazy, uninspired play.
-
here's a question: how many games this year have the wings deserved to win? i know we have loads of wins, but how many of those did we really outwork the other team and earn the win? very few by my count. we are winning on talent alone, everything else has gone out the window, and all of our players are guilty. i'm tired of it.

i agree. lilja's been our most reliable defender this season. he's simplified his play and limited his mistakes. every defender we have, including lidstrom, needs to simlify. get the ******* pucks out of the zone. i wish there was a stat for giveaways in the neutral and defensive zones because we'd most certainly be near the top of the league in that category. i believe kronwall is the worst. when he touches the puck he just assumes he has as much time with it as he wants. this team needs to simplify.

i can't wait for the wings to play like this against the sharks. it's gonna get ugly.
-
oh, and kronwall is now a -8 on the year. worst +/- for any defenseman on the wings. second to only draper on the whole team.
-
same s***, different day. our defense is a joke and it's not funny. i don't even know what to say about ozzie anymore. i don't think he could play more scared if he was out there naked. he is invisible. he looks like he's about to cry every shot he faces, maybe they should let him keep a box of tissues beside his water bottle on the top of the goal.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/recap?gameId=281213018 wow. that's pretty substantial. all this team does is win (convincingly). i'd say the sharks are officially scary. there can be little doubt that they are head and shoulders above the rest of the league so far this season.
-
i wouldn't mind, i'm not too far. the sharks are actually a team i've respected facing in the playoffs. they play hard but don't goon it up so much if they're down and out (like the ducks, flames, nashville, etc.). they are a team to be reckoned with. they look a little like last year's wings except younger, faster, perhaps hungrier, and a hell of a lot bigger.

points were awarded for otl's pre-lockout. so their record is only 2 points better than it would have been prior to the lockout. the wings team of the mid-nineties is still talked about, so clearly it is a big deal. what san jose is doing now is a rarity, and thus, noteworthy. 50 points, 48 points, even 46 points, it doesn't matter, they're playing exceptionally well right now. nothing wrong with giving a team credit where it's due. i haven't once said they'll indubitably win the cup this year, or beat the wings in the playoffs, etc., nor was that this thread's intent. simply put, however, they absolutely the cream of the crop at this stage of the game.
-
jealous? should we tuck you in? do you need your pacifier? hot bottle? bankie? what?
-
just checked out sharks schedule and they've won twice in shoot-out. so pre-lockout they'd be sitting at 48 points in 29 games. still remarkable.
-
not to add more wood to the fire, but at this point in the season san jose has scored 4 more goals than have we and they've been scored on 22 fewer times. boston's scored 1 more and has been scored on 23 fewer times. the wings are doing just enough to get by. the record's great, but this is a terribly bad habit in my opinion. we're nearly 30 games into the season. i just don't see what the problem is. clearly, when the wings want, they dominate, there's no other way to explain the lot of one goalers and last minute come from behind wins. as i've said, though, this is a terrible habit to get into because when you come across teams that are too talented to beat playing 1 period out of 3 you get embarrassed. the sharks are such a team (as is boston, evidently). i just hope the wings take that to heart and give us a full 60 thursday.
-
still, 50 points in 29 games is nothing to sneeze at. they have big joe tearing it up again. this team is a force to be reckoned with. i hope the wings bring their a-game thursday, because they haven't yet brought it this year. don't get me wrong, if the wings get the goal-tending and team-d straightened out, they are the team to beat. but how the wings have been playing so far this season, they might well be shark meat come thursday.
-
wow, for the people freaking out on the people freaking out on a loss... GROW up, no hockey fan can be happy about them all............. jeezus christ...
-
you don't think we should have beaten them? the way i see it, the only team possibly in the league we shouldn't handily beat is san jose. however, with the way our team's played this year that list is much longer...
-
bottom line, if our offense can't score 3+ we're just about guaranteed to lose.
-
what teams have we beaten that we shouldn't? most top tier teams have embarrassed us this year.
-
WOOOO!!!!
-
i just realized that if montreal doesn't win the cup this year, 2000-2009 will be the first decade that they haven't won at least one cup since the nhl's inception. incredible.
