what is the problem with this team? i don't get it. is it losing mclellan? is it mcrimmon? is it losing bowman? what the hell is it. nothing changes from game to game. absolutely nothing. did every single player on this team turn to s*** defensively during the summer? what the hell?

can we fire mccrimmon already? he's had ample opportunity. our defense is horrid. absolutely horrid. nothing like getting pounded by the hawks to get me feeling good on a saturday night. i'm pissed.

well, i missed the first period, but i'm glad to see it's the same old s*** from our wings. 3 goals against on 9 shots, wow, does this team love to underachieve or what. i'm getting pretty ******* tired of it.

i'm not sure if you misspoke here, but i'd much rather worry about this now. if we are worrying about this in april, the team really will be in trouble.

the question is when will they be ironed out? our record is great, but when we've come up against tough teams, we've kinda been embarrassed. just about every game we've won has been a nail-biter down-to-the-wire 1 goaler. not that that's a bad thing, but sure as hell shows we can't keep a lead. it seems the wings are only doing enough to squeak out the wins, and as we've seen against the likes of boston and sj, even montreal and pittsburgh, that simply won't cut it. these kinks should have been ironed out by now, i think. i just don't get what the problem is. how does a stanley cup champion go from being the bar-none the best defensive team in the league to a bottom third defensive team without losing any players while adding one of the better two-way players in the game? how is that possible? without our offense, we'd be one of the worse teams in the league. that's not how you win in this league it is only december, and we have plenty of time to get everybody on the same page, so i'm not too worried. i do find it a bit concerning, however, that 25 games into the season absolutely nothing has changed from game 1. nothing. that concerns me a bit. what are they waiting for?

ozzie's reminding me of legace a few years ago when he said he felt like hanging himself after a loss. he's hangning his head after every goal. i think his confidence is shot at this point.

i'll take the win. i'm trying to fight off pessimism this season, so i'll keep it brief. this team sure as hell doesn't like to make it easy on themselves. osgood with another stellar 80% night. 5 goals on 25 shots... i know it's not all his fault, but it's getting a little old and he certainly shoulders a lot of the blame.

the problem is that draper has very little offensive upside. he's fast, but that's it.

lol. that and dr. ramani. datsyuk saying "i trust my eyes to dr. ramani, you should too" is forever branded into my brain.

hmmm. i guess it wouldn't be a 2008-2009 red wings game without ozzie hovering around 80% save percentage. this is getting old.

it's not the trap that's killing the wings, it's the heavy forechecks. teams that forecheck hard give the wings fits. if we don't have time in our back end or the neutral zone, our d make all kinds of mistakes and giveaways usually setting up prime scoring chances for the opposition. our d need to learn to get rid of the ******* puck and get it out of our zone instead of trying to dazzle and wow us with how fancy they are. the wings are trying to survive on skill right now (with the exception of a few players) instead of working hard and earning victories. great defensive teams work hard, 60 minutes, night in night out. lousy defensive teams play lazy and careless in their own zone for long stretches of time. i've yet to see a sixty minute effort from this team this season. i'm not sure if they think the cup's coming on a silver platter or what. whatever babs is doing so far this season, he clearly hasn't motivated this team yet. it's frustrating because we all know the wings have the talent to absolutely dominate, nobody's on the same page yet (don't know how that's possible seeing as we won the cup last summer, doing which requires everybody working together).

well, it's looking more and more like mclellan>hossa. man, i miss 2007-2008. the wings sure know how to ruin a saturday night.

another close one, i'll take it, but when are we going to blow somebody out. we only allowed 16 shots, yet we had 3 goals against, one from center ice no less. this hasn't been a good year for the oz so far.

interesting. the stats are skewed, however, because 6 of the nhl's 30 teams are canadian. how does attendance compare between the sports in the US alone i wonder.

meanwhile, back in the world of hockey...
