the problem isn't the amount of rebounds as much as the control of rebounds. any hard shot off conklin's pads, he sends right up the slot, through the center of the ice, almost every time. that's terrible rebound control. i'm not complaining too much, because i think he's played well, but his rebounds suck.

he's definitely played well over all, but his rebound control is really terrible.

good first, terrible second, excellent third. good game overall. hopefully that third period dominance will give the wings a little reminder of how they played last year.

damn, we're really missing mclellan. it's too late in the year for our poor defense to be a fluke. this team is below average defensively. how does a team go from the best defensive team in the league to the bottom half?

what are the reason's for such a dramatic shift in our defensive prowess? we've been the best, or nearly the best defensive team for years. what happened? i'm curious what people think, because, let's face it, if our pp wasn't so lethal, with our defense (as a team) playing the way it has this year, our record would be drastically different.

any tennis fans in here? if so, what do you guys make of federer's sudden lack luster play? is he done dominating? typically once tennis players lose their air of invincibility they never dominate the same again. thoughts?

i'm not crying, and who says i'm not grateful? i'm simply asking. the turn around defensively from last year to this year has been significant. we haven't had that many injuries, i don't think that's it. and the chemistry should be there, we have basically the same team from last year except for hossa, and the top line has been great (other than datsyuk's poorly timed turnovers tonight).

ok, i've been trying to remain optimistic so far this season, and cut down on my negativity (as i'm sure many will appreciate), but...ahem...WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? :battle:

wow, i bet mclellan's smiling from ear to ear right now. he's got that team clicking. maybe that's the missing ingredient from last year's wings....

osgood hasn't been great, but our losses and one goal wins and going to ot almost every game aren't his fault either. our defense has been uncharacteristically bad. our back checks have been half-hearted to put it delicately, and our give-aways are off the charts. i loved that sammy give-away at the end of regulation last night where he passes the puck directly to a duck in the neutral zone and then just stands there flat footed as the duck skates away with the puck. you can't do that. you have to make smart plays, and if you make a bad play, you better skate your ass off to make up for it. that said, we're 7-1-2. keep that up and we'll have won 56 games this year. that's at least 114 points (assuming no more losses occur in ot) you can't really complain about that. we definitely have some areas to tighten up, but we'll be fine.

awesome to see hossa get his first!!! love how excited he got! i wish i was in michigan so i could see the post game. did they interview him? great set up by dats. that whole play was all him. knocks steals a pass out of the air, skates it into the zone around three defenders all by himself, beautiful set up from along the boards. awesome!

i thought the top two lines were fine. a couple of crossbars and for those complaining about the dats line, they had our only two goals... wings were just sloppy out there and weren't working hard at all. a short summer and some rust on the wheels, nothing to be concerned about. some work on the pk wouldn't hurt.

i'm sure this info is here somewhere, but i didn't find it. what's the news? will he be ready for the opener?
