given their competition, i think dallas has been particularly impressive.

i didn't see it, but it looks like the match was federer's to lose. up a break in the first, and up 4-0 in the second and 44 unforced errors. looks like he choked but shows he's pushing nadal on clay. seems like he's finding glimpses of his excellence, at least. i'm excited for rome, hopefully i get some matches on tv over here. if federer can continue to find his game, maybe he'll be a true threat to nadal at the french.

well, federer's barely squeaked by th 135th ranked rubin ramirez hidalgo in the second round of monte carlo. i guess his first title hasn't rounded out his game at all.

davydenko was up a break in the second when he retired, too. federer could easily have lost that match. in fact, given his poor mental discipline so far this season, i think odds are better tht he would have lost the match after going down a break. i think monte-carlo will tell us a lot more about the state of federer's game.

datsyuk was our best player this series. if ozzie had played more than two games, it could have been him. he was fantastic. lidstrom of course was great. i was really impressed with kronner. wings that need to step it up for the next series: 1. zetterberg. i know i was defending him earlier in the series, and i know he had 4 points, but he made many many questionable plays. he's trying to think way too much. trying to gain the zone on his own, poor passing, waiting too long to shoot, not shooting accurately... etc. 2. cleary. i know he's just coming off of injury, so i'm not sure how much we can expect from him, but he was invisible the entire series. 3. hasek. i think we'll ride osgood at this point, but if hasek gets back in, he needs to be much sharper. 4. sammy. sammy is as worthless as ever. nuff said. turnovers galore, errant passes, errant shots, and believe it or not, not shooting when he should. 5. filppula. i'm really not surprised with flip, he doesn't do much at all. 6. lilja. not sure if he'll be back in, i thought lebda did well in his stead, but another big body would be nice. 7. defensive zone play. this needs to be cleaned up big time. we were excellent in game 5, and the second and third periods of game 6, but we had many terrible defensive zone turnovers that a more skilled team would have made us pay for. 8. finishing. what good is bettering 50 shots in a game if you can't cash in on any of your chances. this team needs to finish its chances.

well, it wasn't pretty, but we're out! let's hope the boys got some of the kinks out of their system for round two.

if we are having this much trouble against an injured nashville squad, how the hell are we going to stack up against the rest of the west if we get out of this series. god. is it too much to ask for a blowout once in a while?

don't people realize every goalie we face looks amazing? the wings had tons of chances, they just didn't get it done. ellis played well, but we helped him out a whole hell of a lot. i'm extremely surprised that some people don't pick up on this. if you've watched any wings games the last five years, especially in the playoffs, you'd realize we have an amazing knack at making opposing goalies look like gods. most of our 53 shots were harmless, and of the chances we had, we couldn't finish. that's about par for the course for the wings in the post season.

yeah, he's had enough trouble just trying to get to the estoril final. it'll be interesting to see how the clay season plays out. i'm especially interested to see who djokovic is going to do.

well said. i actually thought z had 4 points, but i just checked and you're right. anyway, i'm not sure why he's being singled out. he's been fine.

i'm not understanding the z hate in the least. he's got 2 goals and 2 assists in 4 playoff games. he's fine. he may not be lighting it up like he was at the beginning of the season, but he is the least of our worries right now.
