i hate going to bed in the mood for birds!!

i hate to see homer plugged back into the top line because we've finally gotten some consistency there with z, d, and cleary. homer will come in and mess it all up. he's too much of a hinderance in terms of puck possession and movement.

and somehow, magically, we're still the eighth seed. i guess we have to look at the positives and move forward from here. but if i see this team give up one more time after securing a lead, i'm going to punch a hole in the wall!

wow. the wings are turning 'mailing it in' into an art form. seriously, how does a team blow 4 two-goal leads in five games? how does that happen. why is nothing being done about it? i hope babs throws some chairs against the ******* wall in the dressing room, because if he's as complacent in there as he is behind the bench then this team is in some real ******* trouble.

he's playing well, but he's not playing well enough to be making 7.45 a year.

how does a player turn from one of the best players in the league to a second rate player instantly. it's ridiculous. it's not the talent surrounding him. this started at the end of last year. three games to go in the regular season and he disappeared. he was invisible in the playoffs and he's been invisible all of this season. he needs to get his ******* ass in gear. i'm all for babs demoting dats. send him a message. flip is playing a hell of a lot better. i would love to see flip on the top line in dats' place.

ericsson needs to dial it down big time. two goals were directly attributed to his dumb ass. one pinch where failed to get the puck deep and one give away deep in our zone. this loss has pissed me off more than any loss yet this season for some reason. maybe because this game was ******* important and we had it pretty well in hand and tried to coast. this is what they did all of last year. coast, coast, coast. we don't have the team to coast this year.

what a s*** ******* game. looks like we're back to playing one period and then mailing it in. datsyuk and zetterberg are ******* jokes this year. there are no more excuses. they play on a line together. where's the offense that they're getting paid for. time for these guys to step up and earn it. i'm disgusted with tonight's game!

jesus. datsyuk and lidstrom sure picked a hell of a year to turn into second tier players. unless homer is in front of a goalie he is a total ******* liability. i swear like a sailor every time he touches the puck because, no matter how much space he has, he loses the puck. dammit, this is getting painful to watch.

i'm with you. this team is playing as well as could be expected considering its current roster. we're right on the cusp of a playoff spot. i thought we could have competed harder in the third tonight, but honestly, i don't know how much it would have done. we were playing the best defense in the league and ozzie's on the other side letting in 62 footers. overall, i'm proud of these guys. they're playing their hearts out for the most part. we just don't have the talent to really compete with a team as stacked as the hawks. the made us look silly much of the night.

i wouldn't say amazing. he's at a ppg pace, which is good, but not amazing. he's on pace for 27 or 28 goals, again, good, but not "amazing."

i thought he looked great tonight. he was controlling the puck, making passes, getting the puck out of the corners and winning board battles. he just couldn't finish (which, for the record, the rest of the team couldn't do either). when he plays with homer and bertuzzi, i don't think he knows what to do. when he gets them the puck, they lose it. when he tries to hold on to it forever, teams collapse, and he loses it. i think he doesn't know how to play with that line. there aren't many 1st line centers (playmakers) in the league that could produce much between bert and homer the way they're playing.

whatever it is, you're right, it started at the end of last season. dats was tearing it up, had 97 points with three games left in the season and was all but guaranteed to hit a hundred. and then he did nothing the last three games of the season. and then he had a lousy playoffs, scoring once, i believe, the whole run. who knows what's going on, but it started before the playoffs last year. he's my favorite player, so it pains me to say this, but datsyuk doesn't seem to shine when the team really needs him. he tends to under-perform when the pressure is on. hence, the majority of his playoff performances have been sub-par. i think it's a bit premature to be talking trade. why not lids? he's been awful this year by his standards. let's get rid of him. hell, the whole team is under-performing.

agreed. hopefully the wings can build off of how they've played the last five periods. i think it's starting to dawn on them that they need complete games from everybody every night. our start this year has been about 10 years in the making. i complain about it every year, but the wings have evolved in such a way that they're accustomed to taking periods, hell, even games off, because they're always bursting at the seams with talent. their pure talent has made up for some shoddy play for a long time. they can't play this year like they've been able to play for such a long time. it's not their fault, that's been the reality. but it's not the case anymore and the way they play has to be proactive, not reactive.

let's not get ahead of ourselves. at this point, i'm hoping just to make the playoffs.

i wasn't big on howard before this season, but he's stepped up and shown he belongs. i've been more than satisfied with his play thus far. let's hope he keeps it up. as for the vezina talk. i hope that's a joke. that's even more ridiculous than eva saying fischer would have been a multiple norris winner had his career continued. i have seen nothing in his play to indicate him vying for future vezinas.
