lol. non-producing forwards are irreplaceable!
-
well this is about as excited about hockey as i've been in a while. i really hope he's in good form. i can't wait to see him on the ice!
-
nice to get a win in the central. hell, nice to win! wish i could have seen it. dats with 7 takeaways!?!?! holy s***. two goal as well, sounds like a beast of a game. yet he didn't get a star? rafalski fought???
-
come again?
-
i'm ready to jump on the kronwall bandwagon for now. i've haven't been a fan of his in the past, but he has looked really good the last few games. in fact, i think he's been our best player the last few. hope he keeps it up.
-
kronner and stuart looked great. hasek wasn't great.
-
yeah, i guess the sharks didn't have much pressure, either. i'm just more concerned about how sloppy we looked. i'm not sure how many giveaways we had, i'll check, but it seemed like a lot. i also didn't think we skated as hard as the sharks and we got beaten to a lot of loose pucks. i thought our physicality was pretty good, though. i think having kronner back and getting stuart in there was part of that, but the team looked more physical than usual. even datsyuk tried to lay somebody out. anyway, not a terrible effot, but no urgency or desperation that you'd expect after winning one of their last ten. i'm just not sure what it will take for this team to go out on the ice and play balls to the wall.
-
that's exciting. i really hope he can regain some of his old form. if so he'd be a huge addition. he was always one of my favorites!
-
you thought we played well tonight? i agree with you on hudler, but the team as a whole didn't look good to me. very sloppy.
-
obviously that the mesh goal wasn't whistled dead is utter bulls***. especially (and ken brought this to my attention) that the ref was in the process of bringing his whistle to his mouth after the puck hit the mesh and then let it go?!?! that said, clearly the wings didn't deserve to win this game anyhow. i thought stuart looked good. and it's nice to have kronner back. but we still only have two forwards. this won't be popular, but holmstrom has turned into a huge liability. he's way too slow, he can't pas worth a damn, he's really only good if he's in front of the net. now with our puck moving defensemen out he's being counted on more to handle and distribute the puck and he losses it just about every time. and he's slow as hell. i've never seen a wings slump like this. it's just unbelievable. and what's worse is that they don't seem to care. they consistently get out-played. it's just hard to understand.

i'm hoping tsn is updating them because both theirs or sportsnets haven't changed in years.
-
i agree with this. the wings should have done something last summer.
-
i'm actually not too disappointed (but i didn't expect much). i wanted a big scoring forward like everbody else, but it just wasn't realistic. but i like stuart. he should give us some grit and size on the back end (which we desperately need) and a tiny bit of skill. and the best part is that he pushes lilja and lebda down the depth chart! and we can probably expect some injuries from glass kronner down the stretch so it's not a bad idea to add some depth to our d. after all, that was basically our undoing last year. once everybody is healthy it should get interesting. i really hope mccarty makes his comeback and is in good form (probably a pipe dream, i know) cuz if he does he's a huge upgrade to drake (who pretty much does nothing). we're gonna need all the grit we can muster if we expect to beat anaheim this year or even get that far. the wings i think will be in good shape if all are healthy, but they aren't the favorites. i think the ducks are the team to beat. but stooey's a good pickup.
-
i just don't see why we need all of these small playmakers around. we have guys that do what fil or hudler can do only a lot better. we need a goal scorer.
-
actually, we've been the worst team in the league for the last month.
-
why? what did he say?
-
so you'd rather they goon it up because they can't win? yeah, that's mature. that's exactly the identity i'd want a team to have.
-
i'd say most of this team is worse than a hurt lidstrom.
-
well, our lead in the west is slowly evaporating. before our monumental skid i didn't even consider not winning the president's (not that it's that important). this team really isn't doing much out there at all. we need people back and i hope holland's taking a hard look at his squad because it is definitely missing some pieces. i liked babcock's quoted comment about in his experience tomorrow never comes. thinking about the future is great, and obviously you don't want to trade your whole future away, but the time is now. who knows what tomorrow will bring, holland needs to act today.
-
yeah, but a lot of our offense is generated from the back end. lids and raf are a huge part of our offense.
-
meech was especially bad tonight. quincey was by no means impressive.
-
at least the wings played hard tonight (other than the first half of the first). they looked like they were desperate, that's a good thing. unfortunately datsyuk can't do it all by himself. it's clear our talent completely bottoms out after dats and z with all of these injuries. datsyuk had to be everywhere tonight. he was defense, he was winger, he was center. anyway, i thought they played hard and that's all you can ask for. i was impressed with ericsson. i'd love it if they kept him up over meech, or even lebda. if he can add some bulk to his frame he could be really good for us in the future. this team definitely has some stuff to figure out. our injuries have caught up to us, true, but our problems run deeper, i think. i hope holland does something substantial.
-
agreed. i'm not too impressed with flip anyway. but clearly he doesn't really have a niche on this team. why do we need him when we have zetterberg and datsyuk? we need somebody big who can score.
-
good game. nice to see the wings control the ice again, it's been too long. i thought datsyuk played especially well. great for oz to get the so, too. i wonder if quincey will get some more time now that lids is down. what i saw of him tonight i liked.
