wings looking pretty good. dats is a man possessed, he's all over the place. obviously lids is a huge blow. hopefully it's not serious. he looked like he didn't know which way was up.

my first post will never look like that after a loss (especially after six in a row). sorry.

first of all, yes it does make the wings win the next game. (doesn't seem so foolish now, does it?) secondly, actually it does make me feel better to vent. i'll be the first to admit that frustration will cloud vision a bit. it doesn't mean that my posts have no merit, however. i do feel that when teams forecheck hard and keep the wings to the outside they don't have much of an answer. i sincerely think that. i also think the wings need to adapt a bit and not play puck possession exclusively. i have doubts about a deep playoff run with our style and our roster. i do. that's just how i think. whether i'm wrong or not is debatable, and i love to debate if you want to. i just don't like people breathing down my neck because i posted a BS post. thirdly, i'm a pessimist. i just am. i tend to see things glass half full. i post accordingly. it hasn't changed much in 28 years, i doubt it will. so if pessimists bother you, absolutely put my posts on the not-to-read list, because lot's of them will be glass-half-full. lastly, i have reasoning. and it was the espn.com stat tracker.

well, to think that BS comments aren't going to be made when people are pissed off isn't realistic either, is it. do you really feel your sarcasm in any way is going to make me change the way i post? like i said, if posters like me make you hate this site, ignore me. problem solved. then you don't have to challenge anything. you can post in peace.

a six game losing streak says a hell of a lot. i know how people like to get on their high horse at the first sniff of pessimism on this site, so let's just agree that you are right. you're obviously very smart and your opinion is more important than mine. so let's just agree on that and leave each other alone, okay? from my experience there are two different kinds of posters. people who criticize the team and people who criticize other posters. the wings have lost six in a row. people are bound to be pissed off. if you hate this site, as you say, when the wings lose, go elsewhere when the wings lose. until then, leave me alone. better yet: if you don't like what i have to say. put me on ignore.

just checked the box score. wings were out-shot, beat senseless in hits and takeaways, and emphatically beaten in faceoffs. i.e. this team does not play hard

didn't get to see the game today, but it looks like more of the same. this team is ridiculous. our longest losing streak since 91?? and before this we had 60 wins in our sights? wow, this is unbelievable. i know holland won't do a damn thing before the deadline (why the f*** didn't he do anything in july?!?!?!). doesn't sound like they put much effort forth again. i thought the lazy wings had left with the absence of schneider and lang, but it looks like people have decided to pick up their slack. i just don't see how a team can play like the wings did the first half of the season (by far the best in the league) and play like they are now (maybe the worst in the league). teams know if you push the wings to the outside and forecheck hard they're powerless. we have no answer. the puck-possession skill thing works great when you have tons of skill (i.e. 2002). the wings don't have the skill they used to. they need to adapt. i really can't see them going far in the post season with the roster as it is.

    Something I must complain about

our problems run a lot deeper than hudler. basically, nobody contributes offensively outside of our top line, lids and rafalski and cleary. that's it. this team's lack of depth has really been exposed lately. seemingly, we don't have enough consistent skill to play the skill game and we don't have the size or strength or speed to play any other style. in short, wings have a lot of work to do if they expect to get anywhere in the post season.

i will say this, to be in the midst of a five game losing streak, and to have gotten off of a three game losing streak not long ago and to still have a record of 41-14-5 is crazy. to have a record like we have makes the crash we're witnessing all the harder to understand. i'm gald babs didn't sugar coat things in his post game comments. when he said that this is unacceptable it made me feel better. they're effort is absolutely unacceptable.

let's see here, we've lost five in a row to the likes of the bluejackets, the leafs, the kings, and nashville. wow, i'm speechless.

most of the team looks pretty useless to me right now. what's infinitely worse is none of them seem to care. down 5-1 in the third and they're still consistently being outworked. beaten to just about every loose puck, losing battles along the boards. that more than anything is inexcusable. this team is the polar opposite of what it was the first half of the season. i just don't understand it. how can you go from such a hard working machine to basically rolling over and playing dead. i'm sure they'll get it back together before long, but these games are brutal.

Holland talks about upcoming trade deadline

i'm not counting on any blockbuster moves. there's just not much out there that's really doable. but i concur, to be a true threat in the playoffs, we're going to need some scoring. we don't really have a second line. we have a first, two thirds, and a forth. we basically have three top six forwards on this team (and without z and dats homer wouldn't be a top six so we really have 2). but we'd have to give up an awful lot to acquire anybody worth while up front. so i'm not holding my breath. to really be a front runner we're going to need somebody fast and strong who can score (probably somebody big and strong and fast on d as well). we don't really have an answer right now when teams forecheck us hard and push us to the outside. when teams let us play the finesse game we tear them apart, but when teams don't let us play our game, we don't have an answer. partly because we don't really have the personnel to play the gritty offensive game and we definitely don't have the personnel to play a dump and chase (which is ultimately what we need at least some of when teams push us to the outside and don't let us gain the zone). anyway, to make a long story short, the wings are good, but as they are, they're a little one dimensional in their approach. that coupled with inconsistent and unbalanced scoring makes stanley look unlikely (not that it's ever likely, but...)

    Defense Exposed

is that a joke? did you mean minor league?
  20. datsyukismyfriend

What do you think the problem is for our current slump?

i'd say effort and ballanced scoring. they just don't seem to want it as badly as the other teams recently. and we really need some ballance to our offense. i know hossa's a pipe dream, but that is exactly what we need. to me, anybody is expendable outside our top line (for offense).

i disagree. our passing has been like this for weeks. teams, i think are throwing a strong forecheck our way and the wings don't know how to handle it. teams are also keeping us to the outside really well and the wings don't have an answer. those things coupled with less than stellar effort spell trouble. it's not like we're losing to the cream of the nhl, here. three of the four were against nashville, the kings, and the leafs. that's gotta be cause for some concern.

    Filppula

i'm not impressed with flip. the only time i really thought he was doing well was when z was out and he was paired with dats. he is a terrible finisher and really not much of a play maker at this point either. he is definitely not a 2nd center at this point in his career. unfortunately i'm not too optimistic about holland aquiring a real scoring threat come deadline.

yeah, we play the central a ton the rest of the season. we are absolute s*** against the central this year. the final stretch could be interesting.

qft. especially: "maybe part of it is that other team has figured out our system a bit but we rely on it way too much time" the wings don't do well trying to adjust. when our system works we can seem unbeatable, but when teams effectively counter us we look powerless and we never seem to do anything to adjust other than babs throwing out some crazy line combos. that aside, if the wings continue to refuse to play a full 60, we'll see more of the same. this team really needs to address their work ethic and at least act like they care out there.
