hasek is the last line of defense. 4 goals on 16 shots is pretty much inexcusable especially since it's been a trend with hasek all year.

i all for something being done. bigger nets would create more goals, but i don't think the game would be more exciting, just higher scoring. defenses are just way too good nowadays, and that is what stifles play. in my opinion, we either need bigger rinks or less players on the ice. both would open up the game and make for more exciting hockey where the offensive zone isn't always such a cluster f*ck. rigid, enforceable limits on goalie pads, too. just my opinion. but this league isn't letting it's talent breathe. play is just too stifling. there is so much great talent but you don't really get to see it shine unless it's a pp or overtime.

nothing like ending the weekend being handled by the blackhawks. is anybody else sick of waiting for kronwall to 'reach his potential', or at least come anywhere near it? on the bright side, z continues his point streak.

everybody else getting this on center ice? i wonder why we're getting this game but we didn't get wednesday's? this one is scheduled to be on the nhl network, too, right?

well, zetterberg is actually usually pretty bad in shootouts.

there also hasn't been a game when z didn't get a point. you think he'll get a point in all 82 games? my point is that it's a little early to be thinking end of the year production, don't you think. if he ends up with 130 points, that'd be awesome, but i highly doubt it. not to long ago he was looking at 160 some points for the season. that's a 30 point swing in a few games. it's just way to early to be predicting what z will end up with, especially when you're using these stats in an argument.

datsyuk is shooting percentage is 3.5. that's nearly 5 times lower than usual, and he's shooting the puck more than he ever has. he has fewer goals than the top 55 point getters this year so far. it's obvious the guy is hurting for confidence. and whoever said dats plays the wing like a center is exactly right. dats is a playmaker, that suits him best. skating around and trying to find the open ice and looking for the big one timer isn't his gig. that may have something to do with it. as for z being far more effective, datsyuk is a huge reason z is scoring like this. not to take anything away from zetterberg, but his incredible start this year has also been a lot of luck. he will slow down. but dats is huge getting the puck in the zone/ keeping it there/ creating giveaways for the other team. he's just not getting the points right now. ever thing z does is going in right now. every setup seems to result in a goal, etc. dats has plenty of beautiful setups that that aren't turning into goals. anyway, i'd love to see dats scoring more, and he probably would at center, but really, why mess with this. you have two wingers at a point per game and a center that is tearing up the league. imo, keep it until it stops working. if dats points are suffering as a result, that's really okay, the team's playing great right now. not to say i wouldn't like datsyuk to be having the kind of year z is, but i just don't see the need to mess with something working so well. that's a good point and like somebody else said, it's not like he's having a bad year, it just looks that way when you compare it to z's production right now.

i'm getting sick of the nhl.

if you do find out that'd be great puckloo. what i don't get is the ducks game october 15th was slated for nhl network, yet it was on center ice.

i don't know why i'm so pissed about this as it's only been one game so far, but i'm really f-ing pissed. the nhl needs to take their heads out of their asses and their feet out of ours. no wonder hockey can't gain any steam in this country. s*** like this makes you not want to support this great game. no wonder detroit can't sell out a goddamn game. this league doesn't know how to treat it's fans.

so how many wings games will this nhl network be stealing from center ice this season? this is absolute bulls***. after all the money i payed for center ice i have to turn around and pay more money for another channel to get my games. unbelievable. what's the nhl trying to do? they already scared away the casual fans, now they're ******* with the passionate fans as well? i'm pissed. this better be the only game that i miss because of this.

that is a strange comment. but i'll take it as a compliment, i guess. either way, hitchcock knows the score, the wings are far and away the class of the central.

it's a tough situation, but i agree, oz has been far and away the better goalie so far this year. i know dom is notorious for starting slow, but he's started really slow. but it's a tough call, because having a happy, confident dom could be a leathal weapon. at the same time, ozzie is playing out of his mind right now, and he's bailed this team out several times with key saves, dom hasn't done much of that at all. it's hard to justify sitting somebody playing as well as ozzie. maybe detroit can do a tandem thing, rather than starter-backup. i don't if that'd fly with dom or not, i know he came here to be the starter.
