liked hossa a ton while he was here. i wish him the best in chicago. they're going to be an exciting team, especially if hossa finds his niche there.

that's one way to look at it. another way is that we don't have the talent available to make up for homer's deficits.

i already did go for it. the point is that calling out the "we suck" crowd is no less pointless than saying the wings suck, and it adds no more to the topic than saying the wings suck.

i agree. holmer is useless on the first line. he is a defensive and offensive liability. without two all-star caliber puck handlers on his line, homer is a detriment.

it's not just not having a shooter to dish it to, it's not having another player on his line that can keep the puck in the zone. homer and bert can't hold on to the puck. datsyuk is solely responsible right now for gaining the line, maintaining possession, and setting up the play in the offensive zone. it's ridiculous. as soon as homer or bertuzzi touch the puck it goes the other way. datsyuk is pretty much carrying a fourth liner and a third liner (at best) around on his back. i feel bad for the guy. this is a different wings team for sure. it's hard watching a team that's been elite seemingly forever downshift into mediocrity.

when's the last time you saw detroit goon it up? it's the opposite, nobody on the team (except may) does anything when the other team's playing dirty.

how funny is it that sammy is currently outscoring every player on the wings? lol. granted, he has 4 games in hand, but it's still a sad state of affairs. i think, as a team, a goal of gunning for the playoffs should be revised to making sure that we have at least one player on this team that outscores samuelsson.

at least he's exciting and is trying to do something every shift. he's the only one out there that looks consistently excited to be playing the game of hockey. he's pure energy, i love it.

how sad is it that the only player on this team i get excited to take the ice anymore is helm. not datsyuk, not zetterberg, not lids, but helm. this is going to be a long low scoring year, i'm afraid.

i agree that we can't know what is going on behind doors, as such, we can't really surmise as to how lids could do things differently. i by no means think lidstrom is solely to blame for the wings' play this year and last (our problems have been the same since the beginning of last year, we just had the offense then to make up for it). it will take a concerted effort to right this ship. that said, lids is this team's leader, he shoulders a good deal of the burden. however he is leading this team right now isn't as effective perhaps as it should be. obviously things aren't going very well, lids is and should be under pressure to change what isn't working in terms of leadership. he is only part of the answer. i'm honestly not too worried about the wings. i think they are in search of an identity, i think there is a lot of will in that locker room, but i think there is just as much confusion right now. the team needs to find direction/cohesion. the coaching staff is a big part of that. so is lidstrom. so is everybody. they'll find their way.

if a captain has no influence/impact on his teammates/team, then what's the point of a captain?

unbelievable! three games into the season and nhln has already taken two away from me. this just gets worse every year.

two things, we don't have the offense this year to play the kind of defense we did last year and, looks like we want to try anyway. mccrimmon needs to go. i don't know if he's the problem or not, but this is the same team we saw last year with less firepower. they need some sort of shake up, because we don't have to offense to bail out s*** goal-tending and defense all year long.

lol. i think our four main problems are these: clearing the slot/crease. opposing players were aloud to stand where they pleased last year. challenging the point men. we rarely pressured and seemed content to let teams cycle the puck forever. clearing the damn puck. i'm not sure if it's selective memory, but i don't think i've ever seen so many botched clearing attempts or lazy skates to free pucks needing to be cleared. it was absolutely uncanny. INTENSITY. bottom line, if the wings fail again this year to meet other teams' intensities, our pk will be lousy. babs needs some way to motivate these fellas. i also agree with some others that dats and z need more limited roles on the pk. these shouldn't be our go to pk'ers. and ozzy clearly will have to be better this year. okay, so that's six points...

i've had center ice for four years now and for the most part it's been great. it used to be that between vs., nbc, and center ice i could catch every game. however, with nhl network coming along 2 years ago that is no longer the case. it's still great to have, but be aware that the nhl network will steal every 10th game or so and you usually don't know it until the last minute (at least i don't). and the nhl network costs extra! it's the ultimate "f*** you" to the fans hardcore enough to drop 160 bucks on a package thinking they'll get every game. the nhl says, "nope, you have to buy this channel, too." assholes. lol. that said, i still think it's worth the money.
