nice to see our boys upon their rightful perch atop the standings. i don't think we have much chance at the president's, but that's okay. well, the wings will be tested the first round, that's for sure. that's okay, a tough first round is good to season the boys for a long run.

how did bert look? kronwall skated?? is his injury not as serious as first expected?
-
christ, this team is falling apart. hopefully he'll get enough rest before next wednesday (or whenever the wings end up starting).
-
i guess we'll see, won't we. more than likely we'll be playing calgary in the first round. we'll see.
-
but if the wings lose saturday(in regulation) their goal differential will be less than fifty and if the ducks win their next two their goal differential will be greater than fifty. so they will have the better goal differential and take the conference. the the wings get at least a point saturday, or if the ducks lose at least a point in their next two, the wings will take the conference.
-
the difference between this team and calgary is that this team is stacked with talent and calgary is full of players that work their asses off. the wings should be better than calgary and should have a better record.
-
so, if the ducks win their last two and we lose on saturday, they'll have it. because they'll have as many wins as the wings and the season series was even i think it will resort to goal differential which they are beating us by one after tonight.
-
we have more wins than they do, too. isn't that the first deciding factor? i forget.
-
this has been a tendency of this team all year long. it is rare to see a 60 minute effort out of this team. we'll be playing a team, either in the flames or the wild, that has been fighting for possitiong for months and they're going to be playing balls to the wall. the wings are coasting and that's a hard habit to break.
-
is it?
-
that's great news.
-
i'm worried about this team. they aren't playing with any heart. they're playing one period of hockey a night and that's not going to get it done. we're either playing calgary or the wild in the first round and both are going to be a lot more hungry than us. if we play the flames in the first we could be in serious trouble. what does it take to get this team motivated????
-
great
-
it's a pretty good example of how they've played in the playoffs the last few years.
-
who knows, everytime they throw out a date it gets pushed back. what is with all these injuries????? what the hell?
-
yeah, he had at least a few shifts after that. i don't know how many. he looked shaken up after that collision, however. damn i'm pissed.
-
no kidding, i'd gladly take a loss if it meant bertuzzi's wasn't hurt. this sucks.
-
not to mention the wings haven't had any fire the last ten games. they're just coasting and it's scary. hopefully they wake up before the 11th.
-
the chicago feed hasn't even noticed that bert's not on the bench yet. where the hell is he? jesus christ, this is all we need. :nonono:
-
huh?
-
is zetterberg playing tonight? i've been out of town, don't have time to browse. is he back yet?
-
and home ice is pretty important, too. not only because we play much better at home, but because it would likely mean quite a bit less travel if we made it deep into the playoffs. playing teams out west and having to make the 2000 mile trek to the coast 4 times instead of three times in a 7 game series can make a big difference. i want home ice.

that's not a bad lineup. but here is bab's problem: of those five, two are rookies (who have choked when put in the shootouts, perhaps indicating they're not ready) one is injured, and one is just coming back from back surgery. now his inclusion of sammy in the shootout agains columbus was inexcusible, but last night's lineup was maybe his best option. i might toy with switching franzen in for cleary, but bab's doens't have much to work with. hudler and flip have great hands, but don't seem like they're ready to be put on the spot like that just yet. but then again, nobody else is getting it done so bab's might as well get them used to it and get them some experience with it now. i guess what i'm saying is that it isn't an easy choice to make. that and it seems to me that hudler is perpetually in bab's s***house.

draper's usualy got hands of stone. last night was an exception. he used to be better, but not much. i'd never want to see draper on the shootout.

draper?
