oh, yeah, and ozzie was awesome. great to see bert get ont he board, i'm sure there's lots more to come. i agree. i still feel that they're turning the puck over too much still. especially in their own zone. but you're right, the past few games have improved in that department.

great game. another nail biter i gues the wings are hell-bent on giving me hypertension. wings played an excellent third period. now if they can just find their scoring (other than pavel). 8 points in the last 6 games.

what'd he say??

same way we can.

What do we think about Bertuzzi replacing Holmstrom on the ZDH line?
datsyukismyfriend replied to sean's topic in General
i do believe he's alluding to the tendeny of teams tightening up defensively and amping up their physical play during the playoffs, not that we haven't played these teams before. they were a line for 03-04 before zetterberg got hurt. hull had a great shot and was great at finding space, but he was lazy. -

i don't like the idea of bert and lang on the same line. two big guys that have a tendency to get lazy (lang much more so than bertuzzi) and take bad penalties. i like the idea of spreading our size around. i think lang will work better with a workhorse (calder) and a shiftly little playmaker (hudler) than to stack all of our skilled size on one line. imagine how much bert will open the ice up for zetterberg and datsyuk. z and datsyuk are safer with him up there too. although the homer z dats line was producing like crazy, z and dats were getting knocked all over the place (which will only pick up in the playoffs). bertuzzi could potentially fill in for homer's scoring (and imo exceed it) and give some on ice protection for the little guys. lang seems to work pretty well with calder and hudler as they kind of pick up his slack and make up for his weeknesses and allow him to do what he can do under the right circumstances. i don't think bertuzzi would do that. just my opinion. -

putting bertuzzi on a grind line makes no sense. -

that's the great thing about the depth we'll have once z is back. we'll have a lot of talent for 6 top spots. that means pressure to work hard and lots of line combo possibilities. hopefully babs will utilize this asset and we can get together some lethal scoring lines. -

unless that line is potentially better with bert. bottom line is that just about anybody is going to produce with z and dats. the great success of that line the second half of this year had a lot less to do with homer than z and dats (obviously). you put somebody on that line that can fullfill homer's role and exceed it (bert), then it stands to reason the line will produce even more. the determining factor is clearly chemistry as chemistry could negate berts edge in all around skill and beastliness . but i think that is something that should be found out via trial and error. also, homer's not been the same since he went out and i think it's safe to assume z won't be the same for a while after he get's back. the great success of that line may be a thing of the past now anyhow. yep. i feel like most of the time hudler and clader are meerly working their asses off to counteract lang's worthless passes and just general lazy and seemingly aimless wandering. that said, that line is still creating chances and it's just a matter of cashing in (which all three are capable of). -
yeah, that was the best micd up i've heard in a while. most of the time the player that's got the mic doesn't have a whole lot to say.

that, i think should be one of the bigger arguments for keeping bert up with dats when z is back (in homer's stead). he can give dat's and z room to work like no other on our team. add to that a great set of hands and muscle and speed and the ability to hold his own in the crease and you have an all around upgrade to homer.

yeah, it was great to see him fight (even though he grabbed onto a leg for dear life at the end there )

i agree with everything you said (except kronwall)

i think that'll depend on how hudler lang and calder finish out the year. they're still creating chances out there even though they haven't been scoring lately. if they enter the playoffs on a bit of a roll babs will be hard-pressed to keep them together and consequently homer might be the odd man out (i really can't see babcock shoving bert down the the third line) and i think few would argue that a healthy bertuzzi>homer. but whether or not he'll develop and lasting or significant chemistry with dats remains to be seen. -

i still think bert needs some more time before he develops chemistry with dats. they're still figuring each other out and can't yet accurately anticipate each other's moves. he'll get there, though. -
he's hitting now too! i remember once at least tonight along the boards and several throughout the last few games. it's nice to see.

well, homer was already demoted tonight as most of his first line minutes went to franzen. filppula was also up there late in the third for a bit. maybe babcock has finally realized that it makes little sense to have homer up there with bert. imagine bert dats and z! if bert gets back up to speed(he's already playing well, but has little chemistry yet) and zetterberg gets back and healthy, no pun intended , damn that could be an exciting line!!!!! -
he's turned into one of our best defensive forwards. i really feel he's turned into a complete player this year.

what a great game. wings played a full 60 for once and controlled play for most of it. great game by hasek and dats and it was nice to see flip on dat's line at the end there and it got datsyuk his second best chance of the night. i hope babs will keep flip up with dats and bert. kronwall :nonono: what a disappointment he's been. another terrible game for him with multiple give-aways in the defensive zone. and sammy sucks too. anyway, i am happy. those losing streaks are tough to endure.
-
that sucks. sorry dude.
-
i'm nervous. i hope they come out flying. the ducks don't exactly spell slump-breaking win for the wings. i'd love to see bert score and dats to. lets go wings!!!!

if you think cleary is gonna go a point per game for the next 200 games you're nuts.

yeah, any goalie would do that. hasek tried to cover the puck on the goal against him and it was a foot and a half over the line. -

i think it swings both ways. if you go in coasting it's hard to break free of that habit. and when you're playing teams that go in having to work their asses off you get into trouble. the wins and losses don't matter as much right now, i just want to see this team working hard for 60 minutes which we haven't been seeing lately. it worries me. they need to start busting thier asses. yeah, i don't understand his logic here at all. there are many times when i don't agree with babs decisions, but this instance seems pretty self-evident. both these players provide essentially the same service but berts more mobile with better hands and tougher.
